Born and raised in Kenya, I permanently immigrated to the US in 1999. In addition to English, I also speak Swahili and German and look forward to utilizing these languages as a nursing professional, at least at some point in my career. I am currently enrolled in an MSN Degree Program at Capella University and I hope to begin your doctoral program at the University of South Alabama in 2017.
The University of South Alabama is my first choice among DNP programs in Informatics because it has a particularly distinguished faculty and a most creative and inspiring curriculum. I could not be happier with my chosen field and I feel very strongly that the University of South Alabama is the optimal springboard to propel me to the cutting edge of service

I will always remember my professor, the engaging character of her lectures, the excitement and exhilaration that I felt. Her class inspired, motivated and challenged me at each step with assignments based on clinical scenarios. I learned that I have a unique set of skills and passions that make a career in nursing the right choice for me. The profound sense of devotion to humanity that I find in the nursing profession has been extremely rewarding, (Kutney-Lee, Sloane, & Aiken, 2013). I look forward to many decades of service to come, using digital tools on the cutting edge to overcome health care challenges locally and globally (Moen & Mæland Knudsen, 2013).
I especially appreciate the way that nursing involves life-long learning (Edelman & Mandle, 2010). This is why I am applying for the doctoral program in nursing at the University of South Alabama, to prepare myself to make my maximum, lifetime contribution to nursing, constantly cultivating my dedication, intuition, and ability to comfort and reassure. I like to think that I have already achieved a high level of effectiveness at taking care of distressed patients (Berwick, Feeley & Loehrer, 2015). I now look forward with a great sense of readiness to the rigors of your
According to Rosseter (2011), one of the largest segments of the US workforce are comprised of Registered Nurses, with over three million registered nurses worldwide. Due to the fast paced and rising complex demands placed on our healthcare environment, it is no surprise that over twenty-four thousand post graduate students were actively seeking and earning their master’s degree in nursing in 2011 (DHHS, 2013, p.ix). In order to gain an understanding of the interplay among my education, career path and opportunities afforded to me by taking an approach to higher degree learning. I approached a co-worker whose capabilities impressed me and asked her five questions in person, in order to gain her insightful information of what I will be facing during these next few months.
This statement demonstrates my enthusiastic desire to join the School of Nursing PhD program at the University of Pittsburgh.
Being a nurse not only means compassion, dedication, and intelligence, but the profession also requires endurance, personal sacrifice, and the need for continuous education. I have learned that nurses are some of the most caring and selfless people that anyone will ever meet. Nurses are more than willing to complete challenging tasks and care for others in a way that the majority of people are unwilling to. I am driven to bring all of these qualities into my role as a future nurse practitioner, which is why I am committed to pursuing my Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP).
In today’s healthcare system, nursing is a challenging field as a result of rapid technological advances and changes in healthcare policies. As a dedicated nursing professional, with a great passion for learning, I strive to stay on top of these changes. I am determined to increase my knowledge to be an instrumental part of providing quality healthcare. The demands of nursing are high; however the rewards are even higher. Nursing requires both a supreme understanding of the science of health, and a caring bedside manner befitting only those who seek a position of such a personal involvement in the well-being of a patient. Academically, I will put forth all of
My initial interest in nursing began from my experience with my grandmother. It was in the fall of 2007 when my grandmother was sent to the hospital due to hypernatremia. My dad would pick me up every afternoon from school to visit my grandmother. I was given the responsibility to look after my grandma for nearly two weeks that includes in feeding her, assisting her, and other light duties. What fascinate me during my visits in the hospital were the nurses who assisted and took care of my grandma. They treated my grandma with dignity, kindness, compassion, courtesy, respect, understanding, and love. Their commitment, professionalism, dedication, determination and skills inspired me to pursue a career in the medical field. From that point, I realized that nursing is a field that enables people impact other people’s lives and make a difference. At 9 years old, being a nurse was a childhood dream and now I am at the point of turning my dream into reality. I want to study and pursue my dream registered nursing at Ryerson University that offers a nursing degree program that focuses on developing student’s critical thinking skills, ability to analyze reflectively and apply theory through community health focused practice making Ryerson one of the best nursing schools in Canada.
As I Reflect over this semester, it is difficult to believe that I am halfway through the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program. The (DNP) program has changed my life considerably by providing me with the tools I need to become successful in my nursing career. My goal in this program is to become the best care provider and nurse educator possible. Acquiring knowledge, technical skills, and examples of the reading assignments continue to help me meet my outcomes in this program. Also, each semester, my experience in writing continues to grow as well as my understanding of the purpose of a scholarly project (Kung, 2012).
My research into University of Alabama DNP program has revealed a curriculum with excellent depth that match my learning needs. It is an exciting time for me to perfect my skills in the field that requires brilliant people to help introduce and manage the changes that is taking place. I belief I have an opportunity to make a significant contribution to improving health of communities and organizations that I serve. My goal is to be prepared to meet the changing needs of our diverse healthcare system locally and globally, because of the transformation taking place in the healthcare system. I have the aptitude to inspire and motivate others to work together to achieve a common goal.
I have had the distinct privilege and honor of practicing the art of nursing since 2000. Throughout this time, I have seen the profession evolve through technology, practice and theory. With the recent and constant change created by the healthcare reform, today’s nurse must realize that learning is a lifelong process that does not end upon graduation. The nurse is never done learning, especially as technology and medical knowledge are constantly evolving. My most recent endeavor has been the pursuit of my Bachelor’s degree in Nursing at Western Carolina University. This education has broadened my mind to the opportunities nursing has to offer and has enriched my personal and professional goals.
In May of 2015, I completed my nursing degree from the accredited nursing program at Carteret Community College with an Associate in Applied Science in Nursing. My dedication and hard work to my studies can be seen through my three year membership in the Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society. As a new graduate in the nursing field, my objective is to grow and engage in the knowledge and expertise of my chosen profession. I am very flexible and eager to begin utilizing my newly acquired degree. Therefore, please considered my resume for the Transition to the Practice New Nursing Resident Program at Carteret Health Care.
I am very excited to apply for the opportunity to study Adult Nursing at your respected university. I have taken steps to ensure that I am able to develop my skills and attributes to make me an excellent candidate for this course. I am very driven to achieve my goal and become a nurse in the future. Nursing is a profession which I have admired from a young age. I witnessed empathetic, compassionate care from the nurses towards my family members and therefore really respect this profession.
I am a recent baccalaureate graduate of Charleston Southern University. I received my Bachelor of Science in Nursing in May of 2015. On June 20, 2015, I received my NCLEX-RN results and became a registered nurse in the state of South Carolina. After considering my options for a graduate program, I happily accepted my offer from Case Western Reserve University and moved to Cleveland to pursue my graduate studies. Over the course of my undergraduate career, theories were included in the curriculum but not in depth. It is for this reason that I am excited to partake in this course – to learn the foundational and applicable theories of the nursing profession.
What captivates me about this program are the mission and the core values of leadership development, interprofessional and interdisciplinary education, and cultural inclusiveness. I admire the program for nurturing many graduate students who come from a variety of professional disciplines. If granted admission, I would strive to further my education in clinical, in leadership, and in research to improve the health care experience for the underinsured and underrepresented populations in our society. I believe that by pursuing a graduate degree in the role of Clinical Nurse Leader, I can help change the culture of health care by influencing the policies of our health care systems and how medical professionals interpret those policies. I have an unwavering passion, a commitment to excellence, and a desire to grow academically and professionally in a spirited and diverse
Since I was five years of age, I knew my plan in life was to be a nurse. This was when my mother’s health went in a down spiral; from severe skin psoriasis to heart problems to losing the ability to walk on one leg. I was always eager to help in any way that I could, especially now that she has been diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and struggles with day to day chores. I’ve been constantly inspired by the dedication and persistence the nurses show in the constant battle to help my mum.
As an advance practice nurse, I hope to provide health care to medically underserved adult populations. The shortage of advanced healthcare providers will continue to be strained as life expectancy continues to rise and success of medical treatments expands. The overburdened health care system will be particularly strained in the already underserved populations. I also hope to eventually expand my practice globally. Many of those present at the University have shown interest in these areas, and I hope to connect with them as they will provide a rich education, expand my knowledge scope, and provide insight into my areas of interest in helping me reach my professional goals. and mentorship. The wide variety of clinical practice settings available will expose me to new experiences and provide insight for me as I continue to discover my niche in nursing. I hope to continue to grow my relationship with nursing with an advanced degree from the University of Michigan - as this will provide me with the confidence and credibility I need to successfully advance as an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse
I am a person that can handle an immense amount of stress and handle it very well and can think quickly on my feet, which is why I am the best candidate for your program. In addition, I am exceptionally dedicated to my studies, for example, my senior year of high school my mother suddenly passed away, and after attempting CPR there was no hope of brining her back, I went back to school the next day to avoid falling behind in my classes. Being able to separate home and work and or school is a crucial asset I have that will impact the nursing industry
