My desire to be a nurse started when my partner got diagnosed with leukaemia. Going through a long hard process with the support of nurses made a massive impact on the positive outlook of treatment and the recovery process. This really inspired me to become a nurse with the attentive attention shown and care that was delivered. Although I understand that nursing can be an exceptionally demanding profession, I feel it can also be a satisfying career where you can make a difference to people's lives.
Having a career that has meaning and purpose is very rewarding and fulfilling. I get a great deal of job satisfaction when helping and caring for someone by meeting all their needs and wishes.

I have been a student at Leon high school since Pre-k year and in a couple of months I will be graduating from here. After graduation I plan to attend Tyler Junior College in hope of earning an associate’s degree in nursing as a licensed vocation nurse (LVN). After receiving my degree I would like to work at a clinic or the hospital in Tyler or Dallas. To help me achieve this goal I have prepared myself by taking three dual credit classes this year and a nursing class as a certified nurse’s assistant(CNA). In my nursing class I have complete hours in the classroom and certain hours working on the floor at Groesbeck LTC. This experience has helped me decide that being in the nursing field is really what I want to do. Contributing to the community I has

Since the beginning of the nursing profession, there have always been many students who want to become nurses. In the Middle Ages and the rise of Christianity, nurses were not like nurses today but they were radically different. As time went on, however, the profession emerged into what it is today. Today, nurses are extremely important to the work of the medical field. The medical field is booming with new employees every day. Because of this, the demand for students achieving a higher degree is at an all-time high as employers want more versatile employees. This can be a strain on those pursuing these degrees. Especially for those who work while they go to school. Students going to school and working at the same time can become very stressed, overworked, and may drop out. This causes the industry to spend extra money to keep the individuals on track. In spite of the medical industry’s efforts, nursing students and certified nurses are still quitting their nursing duties and seeking second jobs due to unfair pay wage and strenuous workload.
My inspiration to pursue a lifelong career in nursing derived from witnessing a close individual succumb to a painful and chronic disease when I was the tender age of 6. I pondered and researched endlessly on the symptoms and damage caused by that disease until I comprehended its origin and everlasting effects. The memory of witnessing that individual die will continue to plague my memories and serve as a reminder of why I continue to strive for my goals today. From that point on, I knew exactly the person I aspired to be in the future—a nurse. I was fascinated with acquiring knowledge about the human body and diseases. In high school, I applied to a local hospital to become a candystriper to gain more insight about the medical field and nursing. I was placed into the endoscopy department and it was there where I truly established my determination to take on the challenge of becoming a nurse. I witnessed and experienced a myriad of things during my time there. I grasped how to become more compassionate and to prioritize one’s life and safety above everything. The hospital became my personified version of Utopia.
The transition from student nurse to registered nurse can be exciting, stressful and challenging and reality shock can be experienced (Kaihlanen, Lakanmaa, & Salminen, 2013). The skills knowledge and values learned during the 3 years period of the undergraduate program should be demonstrated while working as a Registered nurse. The transition from nursing student to professional nurse is complex and multifaceted experience (Clark & Springer, 2012). Therefore, it’s essential to guide the student during their learning process for their professional development. It is difficult for the student nurse to work on their own unsupervised right after completing their program. Being independent registered nurse will take lots of practice skills wise and knowledge wise. The transition from student to staff nurse ‘is a common rite of passage that marks the end of initial educational preparation in the discipline and the
I had made an attempt to continue with school when I was younger but found it to be a very difficult task to concentrate on my studies while caring for twin boys. As a result I worked as a Sales Manager for eight years when I suddenly decided that it was time for me to return to school and finish my career. I’ve always known that the medical field in an industry that affords many opportunities and offers a broad spectrum of specialties. Once I had completed my first semester I quickly realized that in order for me to succeed and really grasp the in’s and out’s of the medical field I was going to have to find work within the industry. I resigned from my position as a sales manager and have taken an administrative role while I attend school. This not only allows me flexibility with school but also allows me to build relationships with key individuals who can not only teach, but also mentor. In this current role I am able to experience the administrative side of the business, which in turns helps me experience what I may or may not like. Nursing offers such a wide spread amount of opportunity that I believe it would be silly not to explore different aspects of the practice before settling on one specialty. I am now in my final semester with high hopes of being accepted into the Nursing Program in the fall and look forward to this achieving this goal that I have
“The journey to success they say requires persistence”; and many successful people learn from experience. To be involved in any profession one must first gain understanding and experience, the Word instructs us “... study to show thyself approved…” Working as a medical-Surgical Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), has given me the avenue to know more and inspired the desire to advance in the field of nursing. With this inspiration, I believe Nursing school will aide in the furtherance and I trust that i am prepared to take on the challenge head on.
Whilst studying Level three Health and Social Care, I became eager to explore areas and expand on my knowledge of Nursing. Studying units such as communication enables me to put my this skill into practice and in turn helps me to build on my existing communication skills. Completing Level two Health and Social and my first year of Level three gave me the confidence to continue pursuing a health and social care career as I achieved a B at GCSE and a DM on my current course for the first year. The Adult Nursing course offers a various and alluring challenge. With my chosen course, I will be spending approximately sixty percent of my time on placements which will boost my practical abilities in the field.
The idea of returning to school to master new skills to compete in the workplace is an excellent goal for any working adult. However, it is important for the working adult to understand success is base upon the journey taken and the path chosen by someone. One must realize there will be many barriers and difficulties along the way; however, with dedication, ability to prioritize, and motivation to stay focus, I will succeed and graduate with my Master degree in Nursing in October 2017. For me to be successful in achieving this goal, there are different pathways that I must chose and followed. These are assessing my learning styles, finding ways to manage my time, money, and stress, and setting S.M.A.R.T goals.
As I am applying for this course as a mature student I have no doubt this career path will be a challenging one, both emotionally and physically. However, I have the full support and encouragement of my friends and family and if accepted I will continue to study until I reach the top of my field. I was accepted for an Adult Nursing Course prior to my surgery for epilepsy, I decided to wait until I had the procedure. While in London’s UCLH, it only reiterated my aspirations. The work of the nurses there was amazing, they also kept me calm and supported me when my family was not able to visit.
I am striving to achieve professionalism and growth in roles and values while going through the bachelor’s degree in nursing program. I plan on taking each class one at a time, try to do my best, and gain the knowledge needed to grow in the nursing profession. By October 2010, I should obtain my bachelor’s degree in nursing, which will provide new opportunities, such as management, and educator positions. A bachelor’s degree in nursing will provide the opportunity to further my education to a master’s degree level.
I once heard someone say, “Find something you love to do and you’ll always be successful.” If you want to be in a field where you are continually learning, nursing would be the top pick. This paper will reflect the journey I have taken from Registered Nurse (RN) to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with the incorporation of my learning objectives from my clinical course.
I was only 19 years when I came to Australia all by myself to pursue the course of Bachelor of Nursing in Monash University in 2003. Being a teenager away from all family and friends I only completed 1.5 years and deferred from the degree as I was not at all happy with my performance. My heart and soul was always dedicated to this field so I became an enrolled nurse in 2008, got married and had two kids. But somewhere always in back of my mind was to be holder of a graduate degree and something which my parents always wanted me to do and the reason they sent me here so far away from home. I want to enhance my knowledge and be able to do things when I hear some nurses saying you can’t do this you are just an Enrolled Nurse. I don’t want to prove
