For the children’s learning to be successful, parent involvement is critical. An orientation will occur prior to the children attending. Parents will be updated with the day care policies, the lay out of the day care, the expectations and the introduction of their child care provider. She is a single mother of two children. Her daughter is a year and half old so she is in the Radiant Rainbow Toddler Classroom. The staff so far has been lovely, and I know that I am just a second away if anything were to happen.” I then asked her about if she could see her skills improving since starting at HCDC which is one of the centers biggest objectives. In response to that question the mother said, “ Her social development is quite clear. As soon as I pick her up, she wants to tell me all about her day, who she played with, and what they did. The activities they do help to encourage creativity. She is always asking to do arts and crafts at home. I completely agree with the statement that “Accredited early childhood programs are definitely better than non-accredited ones.” The main reason is that the first impression of the accredited daycare I visited was very strong and impressive and as I observed it became even more evident that the center followed all state guidelines and went beyond minimum requirements to provide the best care possible for the children. However, non-accredited daycare maybe cheaper, but they sometimes even fail to maintain the least standards defined by state guidelines as witnessed by me at the licensed daycare. This number is increasing and the need for child care continues to be more and more demanding. The big question is whether daycare centers, home care faculties, or the stay-at-home mom the best choice for children? Overall daycare centers are more beneficial to children 's social, emotional, and educational development because of the center ' tighter guidelines. About 57 percent of children are in some type of child care based in a daycare center, while 23 percent were cared for at home by a relative of some sort, and 12 percent are in home care facilities (Davidson 671). Over half of children are in a daycare center, meaning that is the right choice for children when we can provide the right staff, education, social and emotional atmosphere.

It is when they will begin to meet the friends that they will grow up with as they go through grade school. Children need this step in their lives to adjust from staying at home, to staying with other children in a completely different surrounding.
