Obesity, its Influence on Our Health

In doing my research on obesity I found a definition that I thought fully described the meaning for obesity and this is how it was defined. Obesity is a medical condition in which large amounts of body fat has come together to the point that it may have a negative effect on our overall health leading to a shortened life expectancy and/or higher risk for health problems.

While I was searching for some data resources on obesity I found that 67% of Americans adults 20 to 74 years of age were either overweight or obese in 2005 to 2006. Overweight and obesity are the most common nutritional disorders in the United States. Overweight and obesity are conditions caused by excessive and unhealthy amounts of body fat (Schiff page 351). When we become overweight and obese we begin to wonder just what actually causes it. During my research on this topic I learned that there is no simple cause for it. I read that there are physiological factors that can cause us to eat without thinking about what we’re putting into our mouths. Our consumption of the wrong foods and the serving size affects our body structure. In determining what makes us fat then we must consider our genetic factors, the amount of exercise we get on a daily bases and our environment.
We have all at some point in our lives ate too much and when we do we continue to get bigger and fatter: but all hope isn’t gone there is a safe and sure way to shed those extra pounds. We have to have…
