Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) is a private limited company, incorporated and domiciled in Malaysia. KTMB Company is wholly-owned by the Government Malaysia. The principal activities of KTMB are to operate the railway transportation and the provision of related railway services in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore. The company operates the activities pursuant to a license issued by the minister of transport. First of all, KTMB started the operation on a 12.8km stretch between Taiping and Port Weld in year 1885, but nowadays, KTMB’s rail network is extend to 1661km from Padang Besar to Singapore and even to the Tumpat in Kelantan. For the West Coast line is runs from Padang Besar in between Malaysia and Thailand Border in Perlis, where it is connects with the State Railway of Thailand’s network. West Coast line is also include to Singapore through Butterworth in Penang, and also provide the line which is from Penang to Kuala Lumpur. However, for the East Coast line runs between Gemas in Negeri Sembilan and Tumpat in Kelantan. The reason is called as the East Coast line is because the KTMB Company has a service to send the passengers towards the destination or moving the cargo in two states in Peninsular Malaysia which is Pahang and Kelantan. The train travel thru’ the deep jungle of Malaysia to reach the east coast side thus earning a nickname which is called as Jungle Railway. In this thesis, I discuss my research and fieldwork at Klondike Gold Rush National Historic Park (KLGO) in southeast Alaska. The conducted research examines fragile archaeological sites in unstable landscapes and articulates climatic and environmental conditions associated to cultural resources.
