Moon Jellyfish are in the “Animalia Kingdom, Phylum Cnidarian, Class Scyphozoan, Order Semaeostomeae, Family Ulmaridae, and Genus Aurelia” ( Myers, 2016 ; Espinosa, ; 2016 ; Parr, 2016 ; Jones, 2026 ; Hammond, 2016 ; Dewey, 2016). The morphological description of Cnidarians are corals, sea anemones, jellyfish and hydroids. These cnidarians form a diverse phylum that contains ~9000 species, which live in aquatic (predominantly marine) environments. The phylum-defining trait of Cnidaria is the stinging cell, the nematocyte an extrusive organelle used for predation, adhesion and defense (Holstein, 1981; Lengfeld et al., 2009; Tardent and Holstein, 1982) (Steele and Technau; 2011). Also, this phylum, Cnidarians, are divided into two groups, “Anthozoa (sea anemones, corals and sea pens), which live as
It’s a beautiful day at the beach, the sun is shining down on you as you float and drift on top of the waves. As you lay there without a care in the world, you are suddenly interrupted by a massive swarm of jellyfish; also known as a bloom. Not only does this send you into sudden terror, it also causes a much bigger threat to the ecosystem below you. The excessive growth of jellyfish swarm drastically lowers the population of fish eggs in the ecosystem. Because of this, fishermen lose millions of dollars. People in local communities are figuring out ways to solve this mass production.
Jellyfish stings are a major and increasing problem in Australia and require prompt medical treatment to prevent extensive injury or death (1). There are many methods to the treatment of Box Jellyfish envenomation in Australia; from sea water and ice, to vinegar and urine (1). Therefore, it is vital to remain relevant with current research and literature on the best treatment of this controversial topic, to ensure patients are receiving the best possible care. This paper will include a reflective paper on current literature pertaining to the topic and the practicality of interventions and methods of management in the out-of-hospital setting. Furthermore, utilising this information, a critique of current local clinical practice guidelines (CPG) and Justifications and recommendations for amendments will be made.
wind and rubber under the boat so you would go which way you steered the wheel.
The topic of my essay is going to about the mnemiopsis jellyfish and the harm the do to fish in the ocean specifically the black sea. The problem with them is that they eat the larva and eggs of the fish. In result, the people who fish in the black sea for a living are losing their product.
An entire new world, different from our own exists beneath the surface of our oceans. This life is full of color, shapes, sizes, wonder, and even darkness. Much of this life has yet to be explored but we still know that beneath the waves exist the most beautiful creatures and the most bizarre. Magical areas such as the coral reef and mysterious areas such as the depths of the ocean are homes to over 700,000 species that live in the ocean. This includes the eighty percent of the ocean that has yet to be explored. Even though there may be separate oceans on this planet, they are still interconnected by a body of salt water. No area of the ocean is the same, which brings us to the wonderful fact that so many different species are able to flourish

The Cannonball Jellyfish is a species of jellyfish in the family Stomolophidae. It is a blueish brown bulb shaped similarly to a cannonball and thus has radial symmetry. For defense, it stings whatever gets close enough with its short jelly-shrouded tentacles covered in nematocysts. These nematocysts also dispense a mucus containing a toxin that scares away most predators. However, the venom that is used is rather impotent. For food, they trap small prey like plankton or larvae by trapping them in their mucus-covered mouth-folds. They move around by either following a current, or moving in such a way that they are propelled vertically in the way they are facing. These balls of fun generally live
Jellyfish can be seen in freshwater and saltwater inhabiting everywhere it goes. Some may see jellyfish depicted in media such as the television show “SpongeBob SquarePants” as a fun recreational sport of catching Jellyfish in butterfly nets. Though most may recognize the creatures as your worse nightmare on a beach and avoiding getting stung by them. However, researchers and explorers have found effects that jellyfish have on impacting the ecosystem and life style of others. These findings have shown a divide between the benefits and negative outcomes they have.
The one opportunity for extra credit granted that year required to build a water strider, an insect which walked on water, using a small amount of aluminum foil and six toothpicks. This insect had to remain floating on a body of water for at least one minute in order to receive the extra points offered. Believing that my grade could benefit from the extra points, I was determined to meet the criteria for this assignment.
The event that I attended was the McKinney Visiting Artist lecture featuring Mark Dion in Fine Arts room 102 on December 4, 2015. The title was “The Trouble with Jellyfish,” which made sense for about the first fifteen minutes because it was basically a lecture about jellyfish. How they live, thrive in conditions that would kill most sea life and their fossils. The point of this he said was to make us, the audience fall in love with jellyfish which then segue to the work he did in the Wunderkammen (Curiosity) Cabinets and other some of his other displays. Every display Dion talked about during his presentation involved animals or nature in way or another. I think the point of him talking about jellyfish in the beginning was not just not makes
This is where he imagined he’d be basking in the sun just as that other canine was doing on the Fourth of July. Once he had the basic shape of the body of the boat he had to measure out the length and cut the cardboard tubes (pontoons) accordingly. At first he thought his scissors would be strong enough, but soon realized that they would not do. He used his father's’ chop saw to get the job done. Of course he didn’t have anyones permission and was scolded shortly but he knew that he’d be forgiven in no time due to the cuteness of his entire being. Once the pontoons were measured to the length of the boat he duct taped them together and to the boat, 3 lined up next to each other. His vision was starting to become a reality. The only thing left to do was cover it with plastic to keep it from crumbling beneath his four paws. He cut a strip twice the size of the base of the boat and wrapped it all the way around and into the inner sides of the box. This, he thought, would assure absolutely no water would be able to make contact with the cardboard (he was wrong). The finishing touches were to seal all of the openings with the duct tape. He covered every inch he imagined possible water damage could take effect. Mickey took a step back after the 6 hours of work and admired his boat. He was ready to put it up to the test and soar in the lake
Clownfish have interesting mating behaviors. For instance, they are hermaphrodites meaning they have both female and male genitalia. There is strict dominance hierarchy in a group of clownfish. Two clownfish, with the female being the biggest, reproduce through external fertilization. However, if the female was to die, the male would become the high female and the next largest male would become the highest male and reproduce with the clownfish who became female. Throughout this monogamous relationship, they can mate all year long. A female clownfish can lay 600-1600 eggs. While breeding, the male cleans debris and creates a nesting area with his mouth.
Imagine living at the bottom of the sea with little food to eat and you are suddenly caught. You realize you are coming up through the sea. You are pulled out from the water and you are having trouble breathing. The fishermen throw you onto the deck of the boat and you suddenly realize you have just lost everything but then after the picture is taken they throw you back into the sea. You swim back to the bottom of the sea and see your mate and babies. The blob fish was allowed to do this because they respond to the environment, reproduce, gets energy, exchanges gases, and
