There are many types of pollution, some examples are ocean and air pollution. Ocean and air pollution are serious issues that has been going on for years. Until today, pollution is still occurring and still considered a threat to the environment and people. Air pollution is when enormous amount of dust and gasses combine. On the other hand, ocean pollution is when marine animals and lifestyle are being affected due to natural and human activities. There are consequences to humans and animals if these types of pollutions are not solved. It can also cause a shorter life span for the majority of the people. Pollution is a critical issue, sadly people are not wised enough to care and act upon this situation. Ocean pollution is caused by humans
Pollution has always been an issue within our society. Derrick Jenson and Stephanie McMillan as well as Michael Pollan have all written articles about the issues in our environment and the effects of pollution. We are causing an increasing amount of pollution as time goes on. Virtually everything we do causes some form of damage to the environment and it seems that regardless of how much we want to fix this issue we are making no progress towards a solution. Based on their articles “As The World Burns” and Pollans article “Why Bother” these authors have similar views and yet contrast on many points.
Millions of tons of trash are dumped into the ocean each year (OI). Ocean pollution can be stopped! I am going to explain what people are doing to the ocean and how it can be stopped. First, two billion people within 30 mile of the coast create 100 million tons of trash every year (Doc. 1). This can be stopped if we reduce plastic in the waste stream, improve solid waste management, and increase, capture, and reuse more plastic (Doc. 1).
This article, “Oceans of Pollution” is written by Dahr Jamail. He presents this article with many details to support his argument. Two main topics with support are used, which is how plastic is causing a great pollution affecting the fertility rates of the fish because fish can ingest tiny sizes of plastic therefore harming the creatures. As well, another topic in this article is the dead zone affecting the ocean, caused by natural environment, climate changing the temperature and human factors. This article mainly presents this article to the government to suggest for change and to humans, many who are biologists, who care about this huge problem. With the intensity of the ocean’s pollution, the article uses three rhetorical topics, pathos,
Ocean pollution is caused by many things, plastic, humans, and oil spills, we are trying to stop this. So many people just put the plastic in the ocean and people are trying to stop them. Two billion people within 30 miles of the coast create 100m of coastal plastic waste. We can help by reducing plastic in waste stream, and try to stop pollution. Another way we can help is by recycling (Doc.1). We cause pollution to by dumping trash and garbage onto beaches. We have to help protect oceans by monitoring the water to see if people can go swimming (Doc.2). The oceans have to stay healthy because they are a habitat to animals (OI). Another reason we have to keep oceans healthy because they are a big food source for us (OI). In
Pollution is one of the biggest global killers, affecting nearly 100 million people. Pollution comes in many different forms and affects the world and the environment in many different ways. Along with the best known pollutants such as water, air, and land, there are other pollutants that many people do not know much about. These include light, noise, thermal, and household pollution and are all just as damaging as the most known ones. Pollution is an introduction of a harmful or poisonous substance into the environment that has a negative effect on life around it. Pollution is deadly, and it is destroying the only world suitable for life. Pollution is a
Although thought to be “not a big problem” and “under control” by most people, pollution is making its way in being a serious and an unforgiving threat to society. Pollution a topic everyone hears and knows exists. What they don’t know is how serious of a problem it is already becoming. Many health issues are being reported now that are linked to air pollution and even the most severe weather places have encountered are linked to air pollution also. By society, not fully being aware of the true threat that pollution is making, it will only become a growing threat that they will be encountering.
Living in a beach community my whole life makes me appreciate the ocean a lot more than most. According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration 1.4 billion pounds of trash a year ends up in our oceans. This enormous number does not belong to our beautiful blue oceans that take up more than 70 percent of earth. If this doesn’t catch your attention right away, then how about our oceans being slowly destroyed as we move on with our daily lives might help you become aware. For starters ocean pollution is when direct or indirect objects or chemicals enter the ocean causing serious harm to marine life and human health. Ocean pollution is being caused mostly by people on land who visit beaches all around the world. Not living near the ocean does not give one an excuse to not be concerned about ocean pollution, if this mess keeps up, marine life can eventually become extinct, more and more people will become ill, and many of jobs can become destroyed, as well as many other ocean related hazards.
drug residues and sediments in the field, it will then eventually runoff into our streams, lakes, rivers. Which cause our water to be contaminated and affecting our food quality and living organisms in the water. I think it is good that we have a system to take control of our agriculture but we don’t realize how much it is hurting us and the environment around us. We are not the only ones who are affected by water pollution but also plants and animals who feeds out of these waters.
Ocean pollution is a problem that can not be solved unless everyone is focused on doing so, our world will suffer drastically in the long run if we do not fix the increasing pollution, and its not just effecting the air we breath but also the food we eat because of water contamination. "The single biggest problem in reaching international agreement on a topic lies in convincing sovereign nations with different goals, opposing political systems, and fluctuating positions in day-to-day politic that their interests all lie in the same direction" (1, 106). Pollution gets into the sea from many sources but has the same effect, consequently swimming in our seas can make you ill. It costs big time to help decrease pollution and to study it. Poor or struggling nations will have a hard time affording it, which does not help because it has to be a world effort. Researchers calculated that $44 million a year is spent just protecting aquatic species from nutrient pollution, still there is so much pollution.
According to World Health Organization (WHO) estimates, two billion illnesses and 1.8 million deaths related to contaminated food, human exposure to contaminated food is the most worldwide public health concern. Many people concerns about chemicals in food, food may be accidentally or deliberately contaminated by chemical hazards. Contamination occurs through environmental pollution of the air, water and soil, such as toxic metals, dioxins and PCBs, or through the use of various industrial chemicals, pesticide, power plant emission, chlordane, toxaphance, and DDT. These chemical substances which persist in the environment accumulate in the food chain, threats humans’ health and have enormous impact on the environment and society.
We have an environmental responsibility as humans. Getting to live on earth is a privilege and we are responsible for keeping our planet clean. We are also responsible for preserving the planet and its resources for as long as possible. As we take the resources given to us, it is our duty to help out where we live and give back to the environment in return. To help keep the planet in great shape consists of some easy tasks that anyone could do, and even the smallest thing could help impact the environment in a positive way.
Pollution is caused by people littering, throwing their trash everywhere, wasting energy, and burning fuel from vehicles. Pollution effects all animals and plants from around the world. It can harm them and kill them. Some animals have gone extinct because of pollution, thanks to humans. To be exact, over 11 species of animals have gone extinct because of pollution, Not to mention people have died too! How much? Well, about 6.5 million people have mainly because of respiratory problems (lung cancer caused by air pollution) . Yea, its really bad. Pollution has been around for a long time in the U.S since the mid-19 centuries. It got worse because of the industrial revolution. This caused the air and water to become polluted because of all of the manufacturing factories, which uses coal for their factories and threw their waste
Environmental pollution is one of the most serious problems faced by humanity today. Air, water and soil-all harmed by pollution are necessary to the survival of all living things. Badly polluted
Pollution is not only a national problem, but a worldwide issue. A global problem. From air pollution, water pollution, thermal pollution, to radioactive pollution, and so on.
Pollution is one of the biggest problems human civilization is facing in today's age. It is one of the many challenges the world is facing today. The impacts of pollution lead many people to illness, death and disabilities annually. Global warming is a result of environmental pollution. Developing countries like Bangladesh suffers the most compare to the developed countries as they don't have enough resources and technologies to combat pollution. They don't have the sustainable economic growth and development to focus on the economic goals.
