As kids you always learn that some words are just bad to say publicly, but I’ve always embraced being a four-eyed pridester! Though pridester isn’t exactly a real word, it encompasses all the joy that having an extra set of eyes brings to me daily. However, this journey hasn’t always been easy and glasses can get in the way of daily life. Let’s start with not having glasses equipped with wiper blades. Do you know the angst that I feel every time my glasses become covered with a smoky smog during the winter, summer and rainy days. I go from utilizing four eyes to being visually impaired. And let’s not talk about how many times someone wants to try on your glasses. Like hello? I do need these things so that I won’t run into a wall. Also, let’s not get me started on the cleaning process. Every two seconds I’m breathing onto my lenses with a strong dragon-like breath to wipe them with my t-shirt, blouse, or even my grandma’s hanky. Can you say exhausting? And grandma

Substance abuse isn 't adequately addressed. One of the substantial drug uses is marijuana. It is also known as cannabis, hemp, dope, or weed. Marijuana is used for beneficial reasons and harmful reasons. Most cannabis users are addicted to it, but it primarily needs to be used for medical purposes. Although mounting new evidence confirms the healing qualities of marijuana, much opposition still exists preventing it from people who need it the most.
Researchers face the challenge of integrating elements of orthodox Christian theology and orthopraxy into the theoretical orientation of their research. To maintain the integrity of the study, the research must exhaust ever effort to take themselves out of the research, allowing the research to speak for itself. Biblical exegesis can influences one’s research; a researcher should acknowledge their assumptions, taking steps to mitigate them from the research.
Dr Nyhagen contends that positioning secularism and its values as the only position of legitimacy within the policy and political arena it has caused a democratic deficit with the silencing of progressive and conservative religious women within the public sphere. She deliberates that feminism has become conflated with secularism and that women’s religious conviction and social activism can create a feminist discourse but are excluded from mainstream women’s organisations and feminist movements, as the common ground has become a battleground with conversations about violence by men, political exclusion and the increasing sexualized representation of women have been replaced by the rights of religion to be seen in a public manner. Dr Nyhagen recognizes that it will be deeply problematic to find consensus between groups on homosexuality, divorce and a woman’s ownership of her body (abortion, Muslim dress) but ‘the feminist challenge is to develop intersectional analyses that does not necessity or privilege gender’ .
To some extent it could be argued that the U.S is a less secularized country than Australia. However, with research as evidence it can be argued that the U.S is to the same extent as secularized as Australia. Both countries prohibit the religions from having any influence on the state by having a true separation. With the number of people believing in a religion constantly changing, it is evident that it has become stronger in the public sphere and that there is a strong connection between education and welfare levels of a country and it’s religious outlook.
Society has continuously changed, transformed and grown over the years. Recently the nature of society is one of mass culture, emphasizing conformity. On February 5, 2016, I had the privilege to spend the day with the patients of Regent Care. I was accompanied by my classmates from the Communication Disorders program. As I walked into the facilities cafeteria we gathered around the round tables. As we waited for instructions our professor gave us an overview of what we were expected to do. There were big squared plastic bins that were filled with different kinds of supplies. As we assisted our peers get the supplies out of the bin we began to separate and organize the supplies by activities. We began by cleaning the round tables with water. After they were dry we began setting up the different stations. There were about five activities which included getting their nails done, decorating a picture frame, decorating a bag, painting figures as arts and crafts and bowling.
Secular humanism is appropriate in today’s society because it motivates its followers to accept and secure what they believe to be true. In fact, their argument is based solely on the application of reason, lessons learned from history, and lastly, their personal experience which form an ethical moral foundation to create a meaningful life. Although, secular humanism opposes how Christians view the Bible that does not defined them as being an anti-religious group of people, they generally encompass nontheists and are classified as non-religious because of their approach to life. Rod Farmer suggests, “Ten years ago few American educators had ever heard the term secular humanism; today the term pops up in numerous political and educational debates
“People hear what you say but see what you do; and seeing is believing. - Unknown. For this reason and many more is why I strongly agree in the common saying, “seeing is believing”. I feel this way because you can’t believe what everyone says because not everyone has your best interest at heart and also because your actions speak louder than your words.
