Being covered head to toe in thick, chunky mud really means you have been through a lot. Off roading seems to be a fun way to spend your Saturday night. Most high school seniors would go party and get drunk, but not me. Instead my decision was to hang out with Max and Andrew my best friends. We decided to go off roading. About a minute down the trail it got intense. The car was bouncing up and down and slipping like it was on ice. Eventually we came across and long rut and Andrew decide to floor it through it. We began to tip on our side, the fear struck me like a bullet and I told Andrew to floor it again. He did and we got unstuck only to head into a giant puddle at the end of the rut. Quickly the car engine began to drown in the brown water and smoke arose covering the environment in a white fog. Now I have done it and this time it's going to be hard to get out of this one.
We began to try everything we knew on getting cars unstuck, but nothing would work. At one point we walked in the puddle and tried pushing it out. Eventually we called a friend to help pull us out. We hiked two miles down

Stepping out to examine our surroundings and making sure that the car was safe from any more ruts and puddles we carefully moved on. Now off the trail we drove down to Walmart to buy cleaning equipment. The car's interior was covered in mud and the outside was indescribable muddy. Walking through Walmart covered head to toe in mud was hilarious. I never felt more exposed before in my life. Quickly, we purchased our supplies and went to a car wash and got kicked out for how muddy the car was. Eventually we found a car wash again and began to scrub the car everywhere. The soapy water covered the car including us as, we scrubbed it till it was squeaky clean. After that the interior was scrubbed till not a drop of mud was scene because Andrew had to drive his parents to church in the
Why do you think McCarthy has chosen not to give his characters names? How do the generic labels of “the man” and “the boy” affect the way you /readers relate to them?
Jamie and Mark Roberts of Forteau posted a picture of themselves paddling around in a puddle in the main road of their town using an inflatable dinghy. This is to show the terrible conditions of their road.
Prometheus, a Titan in ancient Greek mythology, stole the fire from Zeus, the ruler of all Gods, and gave it to humanity, even when Zeus strictly told him not to. As punishment, Prometheus is bound to a rock. Every day, an eagle swoops in to eat his liver, but Prometheus does not die. His liver regenerates only to be eaten again the following day. Because Prometheus “carried the fire” to humanity, his days are forever filled with torture. Similar to the situation that appears in the Cormac McCarthy’s novel, The Road, the main characters, a man and his son also “carry the fire” for the sake of mankind. “Carrying the fire”, a motif that Cormac McCarthy portrays throughout his novel, The Road, can be used to explain the reasoning behind why
In 1949 the Trans-Canada Highway Act was passed by Canada’s Parliament. The Act allowed for the building of a national highway with costs divided between the Federal Government and each provincial government. Construction of the highway began the year after the passing of the Trans-Canada Highway Act, 1950. Seven years after starting construction Saskatchewan finished its section, becoming the first province to do so. The entire highway was not completed until 1971, but Prime Minister John Diefenbaker opened the highway in 1962. The Highway is the world’s longest national road, 7821 kilometers, passing through all 10 provinces. The highway is not a single highway but rather splits into two or three parts in some areas. The main part of
We live on dirt roads, which don't have many cars on it. one way to improve the roads would be to trim trees and trim areas around intersections, so you could see better. Another improvement would be to have the potholes filled in.
There are many different reasons why Ryan, Max, Jeremiah, and Aiden should go on this road trip.
Little to our knowledge those tarps were full of water and dead bugs due to the fact that it had been drizzling all day. As we went down the first hill my mom got drenched with water and dead bugs and their bodies. They were all over her. As we got off of the ride the rest of us couldn’t help but laugh at the way she looked with dead bugs in her hair, mouth, eyes, and anywhere else they might have gotten. After my mom got cleaned up as best as she could we continued our adventure.
This morning prior to the start of school in the area of Ash street it was reported that a man in a dark blue van had asked a student to come over to his van. Upon this being reported to the school we called Dispatch and an officer was sent to the seen to investigate. Pleas remind your students to be aware of their surrounding and to not approach cars and people that they do not know and to always eminently let an adult know of any situation like this
In the 1940s the Beat Generation sprung up and took the nation by storm. Many people in their later teenage years started to become “rebels” to what society thinks. This rebellious lifestyle sparked various different views; those that look up to them, and those that look down upon them. Jack Kerouac plays a major role in this time period pertaining to this lifestyle, authoring many works about it, one being On the Road. He uses the characters in this story to depict the diverse views on the Beatniks. This strong interpretation used throughout the novel sets the stage for many other authors writing on behalf of the Beat Generation. The characters he uses in this
Groaning in frustration, I get up as fast as I can, flinging mud off of my person. When I'm all done, I grab my bag and head back into the direction of the road. Or at least that's what I thought.
Back in July, I was at Jordan’s house and was having a horrible day. He tried to make it better by doing a lot of things. We ended up going out to his truck just to ride around, and he thought it would be fun to go to a gravel road. After hitting the
As I approached the next light, a red light, I stopped and just so after I stopped the blinking yellow arrow appeared. I sat patiently waiting for a clear path so I could make the left turn. Noticing that no cars were near, I made my turn. CRASH, SKRT, CRASH, I yelled “ WHAT THE HELL” and tried to pull my car to the side of the street but it was no longer drivable.
This was an event on Thursday at the Common Ground, which started at 9pm and ended at 11pm. I went to this for another class called ECAP which is Exploring Conflict and Peace. This was something very important for me to go because I always hated when this school had a whole week of take back the night. I went to one last year, but it did not impact me or hit me in the way it did this time. The reason is that I was full of anger and I did not listen to anything they said even when some people re-enacted the stories it made me disgusted and made me want to criticize them because they did not know what that person felt. One can reenact it but I felt offended rather than sad, and I just felt that no one should ever reenact stories. Now, I finally
I was not too brilliant, but what do you expect from a twelve year old. We literally could of died! David was fourteen and did not have much driving experience. Because of that, I consequently got thrown out of the wagon several times, but I just had to get up and take it like a man. Eventually we found a pond. It was an area where all of the cows drank and cooled off in. We parked the ATV and got out to go look around.
If you happen to get into a crash, you should immediately pull to the side of the road and stop. If
