The ROTC program was one of the greatest experiences that I had in high school and it changed me significantly. The best aspect of being in ROTC was that I could do whatever I wanted and whenever I wanted such as going to trip and also getting free food whenever my instructor ordered them. One of the best parts of the program was when I first started to learn about the military which was my primary goals at the time because I have always wanted to join the military though after four years of doing research in the program I have decided to change my mind and wanted to go to college instead. The worst part for me in the program was the fact that I had to deal with freshmen every day it was not an easy assignment for me at all especially when
The men of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated that I have had the privilege of being in contact with all were noble men and equally important leaders. I have had the privilege of interacting with many men throughout mentoring programs and community service projects and often found that those whom I deeply admire shared the common brotherhood of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated. My undergraduate advisor Dr. Fredrick S. Stephens is one of those men that have had a major impact in my life and induction into Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated. I come from a family that has strong beliefs in civic engagement. His example and guidance throughout my college experience challenged me to be greater leader and servant of m community. I needed that guidance to enhance my development as a professional social worker and in life.
HCC's Omega Sigma chapter recently won two Awards of Merit at the Phi Theta Kappa-Texas Regional conference. Both their community service College Project and Honors in Action research project were recognized.
Last May, I traveled with Alternative Breaks to New York for community service. During this service, I worked with Meals on Wheels who dedicate their time to provide food for the elderly of Manhattan. As I delivered the food to the seniors, I got a sense of fulfillment because I made them smile by providing them with food. Thus, I chose MDC’s Single Stop because I wanted to make a difference in my home campus by providing and assuring nourishment to those that do not have it just like I did in New York. As my first two years of college comes to an end, I wanted to leave a mark of my own here at home at Miami Dade College North Campus. During the month of September, I decided to partner up with a few of my peers to serve at MDC’s Single Stop.
As a Jackson Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corp Cadet and Police Explorer, upon acceptance of this scholarship I will be able to contribute to society. How might you ask? Throughout my high school career I was taught the value of serving and protecting the community. “Integrity first, service before self, and excellence in all we do” was the motto taught to me by the AF Jr. ROTC program . “Class two line of blue law enforcement through and through” was the motto taught to be by the Youth police academy. These motto’s reflect everything that I stand for, everything that I believe in. That if I was ever to gained the privilege of
This fall is my first semester at “Cougar Nation”. I previously attended Saint Xavier University in Chicago, where I held several leadership roles. At the beginning of my sophomore year (August 2014) I resurrected an inactive organization on campus called the African American Studies Diaspora Club. The organization’s mission is to encourage and celebrate the gift of knowledge, power, and unity existing throughout SXU’s diaspora of African American students. Under my leadership, the AASDC became the premier Black organization on SXU’s campus as well as an excellent service to the Chicago community. My work within the organization allowed me to be blessed with several related opportunities of service to the SXU community. I was dedicated
Although Professor K loves to see leadership from the officer team, she likes to be involved with helping the members participate and explore their natural abilities. She attended the officer team meetings with the administrators and librarians. Once she became familiar with facts regarding the project, she began to advertise on her own. Not only did she advertise for the event, but she encouraged members and students who were not members to volunteer as tutors. She explained to them how this would increase their leadership skills and how important it is to help others, even their fellow students. Because of Professor Kallarackal efforts, we had a huge turnout of members and other students attend to help others pass their

United States Army defines leadership as influencing people by providing purpose, direction, and motivation, while operating to accomplish the mission and improve the organization. Leadership to me is defined as doing what is morally and ethically correct, all while influencing people to accomplish a specific task. A Senior Warrant Officer is essential to the overall leadership of the military.
“Woodstock Academy Girls Varsity Team”: A program that is more then banners, championships and awards, a program that is built on dedication, excellence and teamwork. Five years ago I found myself at the Bentley Athletic complex, intimidated by the talent that this program exuded. I remember vividly the first day of tryouts. I was 14 years old, I had come from a small private school so I did not know anyone in the school. My parents dropped me off waved good bye and said good luck! I walked slowly with a ball at my feet, water in my bag, and my head down over the table to hand in my paper work. Tryouts started a few minutes later and Amy Cross the head coach of the program at the time gathered all the girls around and introduced the senior class and talked about the expectations of this program. As a team we were required to attend every practice and game ready to work hard for 2 hours, respect towards our

While I knew that the NSCS was involved in the community on some level, I was not aware just how involved they were. Volunteering at local organizations and helping to donate items to organizations in need were just a few of the examples. I was pleased to see the level of involvement that there was. I was also surprised to see how much of a variety there was between the officers. Some officers were newer to the college scene, working part time jobs or no job at
There are many important qualities that it will take to become a successful United States Military Academy cadet and successful military officer. I feel that I will be successful if, I use my own experiences and beliefs in life in the Army ,that has groomed me into the leader I am today and the leader I will be in the future. My beliefs in order to be a successful cadet and officer is to always be honest, and to gain the loyalty and respect of your subordinates, peers, and superiors alike.
The Chapter Advisor Team went above and beyond to ensure that the chapter’s goals were not only being met but were being surpassed at all times. Despite having a hectic schedule, the advisors made the officer team as well as the members feel welcomed to ask any questions or make any suggestions. Creating ideas was strongly encouraged amongst all officers and each position was greatly respected which was truly crucial in the decision making process for upcoming events. Since early in the semester, the executive board of officers became knowledgeable of the Phi Theta Kappa responsibilities. As an organization, the Omicron Tau chapter treated teamwork as the most important characteristic because together, they stood stronger than ever before. The advisors cooperated with each other and determined each other’s skills to help the chapter flourish with efficiency by creating an outline of responsibilities for each event to maintain an organized environment.
