The VP of management systems, H. Day, wanted to examine the turnover, absenteeism and productivity figures of The Old Family Bank. There were two departments whose results were vastly different. What he found was departments with increase in turnover and absenteeism had decreased productivity and those with decreased absenteeism and turnover had an increase in productivity, with the exception of the check sorting department and the computer services department. I. Problem – Loyalty to company, working conditions, and wage structure. 1. Macro a. One whole department in the bank lacked loyalty to the bank. Employees who lack loyalty to the bank may ultimately hurt the bank’s profitability. b. The bank does not have a universal system in place for paying employees. The skills do not match the wages. General feeling from the computer services department is that the bank is not supportive of the units and only cares about high productivity. c. At least one whole department in the bank had undesirable working conditions and was not encouraged by their work environment to socialize.
2. Micro d. Computer services employees feel others are receiving better salaries than them and their contributions are not appreciated. e. Computer services department works well together and have a good camaraderie, but they are not loyal to the company. f. Computer services employees stay working at the bank despite being unhappy with the status
