The global dispute that centers on technology, ranging from basic machines to the internet of things, is a very broad one. To each person the use of electronics means something different, some despise the rate in which the world is turning to robots and some praise the idea of the world turning into the real life version of the movie “Back to The Future”. If you walk around randomly asking questions about the future and technology, you are most definitely going to get a wide decree of answers. It seems though, as a unified decision that the world is in favor of such changes and will continue to move towards movies like “23”.

One of my main goals this year is to land a top-notch internship with a technology company. I have been trying to read as much as possible on the best ways to accomplish this. There are many books and articles that have helped me, offering advice on interviews and what sort of skills I need to develop to obtain one of these internships. An article that I read “How to land a top-notch tech internship — and a tech job — while you’re still in school” by Michael Deng, gave some great input and I think it impacted my sense of professional identity and pertains to my goals that I have set this year.

Technology has always had a significant impact on the way we communicate and socialise. Today’s technologies have, in many cases, become so integrated within our daily lives, that they play a part in constructing our existence and understanding of reality. The Internet is one such piece of technology that influences our perceptions of our self and our surroundings. This essay will aim to explore the social implications of experimentation with identities online, as well as evaluating the ways in which new technologies may continue to shape this issue in the future.

Have you ever had the absolute need to be in constant contact with someone? Some people in society always have the need to be connected to someone and others really don’t have too. Though some people in society fall somewhere in between these two categories of people. These people don’t have that constant need to be connected to someone or something, yet they do like to be able to contact someone in just a few seconds if they need too. People that fall in between are ones that rather talk face to face, but like the fact they have the ability to contact those that are far away, or not close enough and be able to communicate in person. I have begun to notice that at my school a lot of people would rather be on their phones than be in contact with the people around them, but in some cases there are a few that are not “tethered” to their phones.

It is important to use our common sense and utilize technology when it’s smart to, but also understand and recognize the power of technology and not abuse it or use it to harm others. We as humans in modern times have a huge responsibility to use the technology that God has allowed us to invent in a balanced approach.

Everybody thinks that technology is so fantastic this day and age, but have you ever stopped and thought about the negative impacts that it can have on the world and everything on it? See, technology, and gizmo's can be great, but at the same time they can destroy animals lives, and even human lives. So, today I would like to tell you all the negative impacts of how technology affects nature to the way it affects some other things in the world.

Technology has made communicating difficult and has slowly ruined people’s friendships. Henry David Thoreau says, “Society is commonly too cheap. We meet at very intervals, not having had time to acquire any new values to each other.” People want to be talk to other individual as fast as possible, and when people have that mentality it becomes difficult for the person to relate. Technology has made people vulnerable about there self and continuously judging the way we behave. Business contributes of how the individual view themselves and it puts them in lower self-esteem. Although it does have its advantages such as given people connection with those far from them, technology has ruined the connection and intimacy that people once experienced in a pre-digital age.

Humanity has evolved since the beginning of time, from using rocks and other objects to create tools that would ensure our survival to producing technology that before seemed unimaginable to us. Technology has become essential to the people of modern society and is used to carry out even the simplest of everyday tasks. Today’s generation of millennials has become so dependent on technology that it controls our daily activities, creativity, and relationships with others. It’s because of our idleness and indolence that makes our generation “the dumbest.”

Across the world, everyone has one thing in common: perspectives. However, it is important to note that these viewpoints are not the same. Every individual has had different upbringings, resulting in differing opinions about different issues. One of these issues is the use of technology in learning. With today’s expanding technology, there is a myriad of entertainment apps and games for students to enjoy. This serves as a convenient scapegoat for teachers that have failing students. Rather than accepting that some students are trying their hardest or that they simply do not care enough about the class, they are quick to blame the rise of phones and apps for their student’s poor performance in school. No matter the topic, if both sides of an argument are articulated in a fair manner, bias is more likely to be eliminated.

I’ve grown up in a strange time period. Born in 2000, I have grown up with modern technology in a unique way. Just as new developments were being made from home phone, to flip phone, to smart phone, I was reaching the ages where that new technology made sense for me to graduate to. I even still become jealous of kids now who are allowed to skip those steps. My education was shaped by changing technology. When I started school teachers were still using projectors and wet-erase markers on plastic sheets and our standardized tests were all paper based, then as smartboards and tablets became normal for class use and the standardized tests became digital I was right there. It made sense to go from washing projector slides to drawing and playing educational games on a smartboard because of the way I learned to interact with new technology. It made sense to go from paper to online based tests because I was taught how to use a computer slowly for years. I still played outside and hung out with friends which many people prefer to forget about my generation. As so, the impact modern technology has had on my generation is less of a direct interpersonal one as many older people think, rather modern technology has caused us to question our global relationships; who we are, what we are here for, how do we matter. In a large part who I have become today is a direct result of this, I am a member of a global community but I am a small and generally insignificant member. This isn’t a bad

Robot assistants, a virtual you, digital butlers and drone deliveries are a few of the new inventions that companies are trying to make to advance their business (The Guardian, n.d.). Online shopping retail sales are predicted to grow to around $370 billion in late 2017, up from $231 billion in 2012 (CMO, n.d.), it is estimate that this number will keep going up as advancements in technology keep improving. It is also estimated that 72% of people aged between 13 and 35 research and shop their options online before going to a store or mall. These statistics show that every year young people usages of technology to buy a goods or service through technology is getting higher and higher. An example of a company using new technology is Dominos. Dominos have decided to add drone deliveries to their already successful business. “We invested in this partnership, and technology, because we believe drone delivery will be an essential component of our pizza deliveries, so even more customers can receive the hottest, freshest pizza we can offer” said by managing director Mr Meij. Dominos have taken a calculated risk using modern technology to try and give them that boost they want. Technology is taking over today’s society and consuming the majority of Americans’ time everyday. In this day and age, a family’s idea of going out together is going to a restaurant where everyone sits on their phones instead of communicating with each other. Studies have shown that spending too much time on the internet and social media will increase the risk for someone to develop mental and sleep disorders (Wrenn). When someone is watching what another person is doing, they often feel left out even if they are not friends with the person. People devote every minute of freetime to their phones, T.V.s, and other devices watching moments they lived in the past or watching what others are doing instead of going out and living their own lives. A lot of people feel like they are busy every minute of everyday. They feel this way not because they are physically busy, but because when they are not actively doing something, they are on their phones which means they are not taking any time to just relax. Technology is supposed to be a helpful tool that helps people live more efficiently; however, too much of a good thing can be very detrimental.

We all know technology is a good thing, right? Or is it? We can all come up with reasons why technology is helpful or appropriate like we can for a particular medicine. And while some drugs are really great to cure or prevent a disease, sometimes the side effects outweigh any possible benefit. The same is true with technology. Some common negative side effects of technology are kids playing on their phones instead of going outside to play or young people not interacting face-to-face as much as they used to.
