Presenting in the Huskies Showcase was a very new experience to me. I have never had the experience to conduct research and present it in a setting like the Huskies Showcase. Learning facts about my topic allowed me to discover things I have an interest in. For example, learning about how gene mutations can affect one’s life so much inspired me to use my interest in genetics to possibly find a way to cure or make life easier for these patients. I had discovered a tool known as ‘inspect element’ it had come across me due to my natural curiosity of clicking every icon, it enabled me to alter websites and their text on my screen. I had played with it for a while,I gained a new appreciation of websites and how they are made with so much work by seeing all the letters and numbers that made up the website, it was absolutely overwhelming. I used my new-found knowledge to impress my friends in school, I would go to a news website and would change the headline to something funny. This experience had opened a new door to my knowledge of how computers and websites ran; it was all code and I was amazed.

Knowing different people has made me aware of the various situations people are in with their families and how it affects them as a person and student. Being around so many people has helped me develop skills to interact with people and be able to comfort them when they’re in difficult positions.

It really helped my family and I find unresolved conflicts within our salon. As a business major myself it was exciting to do something hands on. It opened my eyes into part of what you have to do with a business major. Not only that, but it also helps one understand how to budget and how much work and money that is put into owning a business.
