On January 2017 the new president of the United States Donald Trump signed the order to ban immigrants, travelers, and even green card holders who were born in one of the following seven Middle Eastern countries: Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen, specifically Muslims and Syrians. According to what President Trump was saying, this order is made for the safety of the country, and to limit what is called the “Foreign Terrorism” inside the United States. People who agree with this law believe that banning believers of a specific faith and refugees entering the United State will make them safer. Citizens who agree with Donald Trump’s travel ban order say that they feel better and safer since this ban was announced. They say that immigrants are not welcome to enter the United States. They believe that immigrants who are escaping death in their countries are entering the United States to do “terror” attacks. A U.S. political polling editor at Thomson Reuters, Chris Khan, mention in his article, a couple of questions that were asked to people in the United States. One of the questions was, "What comes closer to your opinion? Because of Trump 's travel ban, I feel more safe / less safe." About 30% of the answers were “I feel more safe” And about 25% “I feel less safe” and the others had no response. Most people in the United States have some negative feelings about refugees coming from overseas after the attack of 9/11. Some Republicans say that they would feel safer if there were no Muslims entering the United States. “Banning people from Muslim countries is necessary to prevent terrorism” (Khan). Let’s start with the wording. The use of the phrase “foreign terrorist” has an extreme negative prejudice against 1.6 billion human beings (Chappell). Labeling approximately a quarter of the planet’s population as “terrorists” has become so culturally accepted that it has literally titled our laws!
