In the story Only Daughter, the narrator and author face a challenge that is only hard on them because others do not understand. Sandra Cisneros feels invisible in her family with six other brothers. At times her father treats her kindly while other times he hurts her without knowing that he does. Her father hurts her by saying he has seven sons when he only has six and a daughter. When her father says he has seven sons he tries to make people feel bad for him; they give him free things because they feel sorry for him. Cisneros does not like how her father acts when he says seven sons; he gets his way by lying. In the end she writes a book and makes her father read it. When he is finished he asks her if they can get more copies of the book
