Often it is said that you fight till the finish line. It certainly was true for a character from the movie Unbroken. Now let’s compare fighting till you reach the finish line of the 2014 movie Unbroken to the poem “The Wound- Dresser” by Walt Whitman. As I look over the course of the movie Unbroken, Louis Zampaeni transforms from a weak boy to a man full of perseverance.
This reflective essay will be adopted from Rolfe, Freshwater and Jasper’s (2001) reflection model. This reflection is based on a case study that I have read and will be based on the intervention I have chosen to treat the patient. Mr. Castello was admitted to the ward for observation after a fight and sustaining a laceration to his right forehead from a beer bottle and extensive bruising and scratches to his left arm. Mr. Castello had a pre-existing chest infection, Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus (DM), and asthma. Assessing, cleaning and dressing his wounds is an integral part of his treatment, as his DM can lead to delayed wound healing and increased chance of infection (Salazar, Ennis, & Koh, 2016). This could be successfully achieved through
My daily routine as a nurse would be to get patients medication to them make sure the patient's’ symptoms have not changed. If a patient is about to go into surgery, I would help get them prepared to go into the operating room. I would make sure to get the patient's’ vitals and to make sure they are feeling okay, or ask any garrulous questions like “did you feel sick over night?” or “were you in any pain or did anything change over night?”
Personal Goals I will stay calm and will not be nervous during the interaction. I will do this by focusing on the needs of my patient and by trying to understand how she is feeling in this situation. I will ask open ended questions. I will do this in order to foster a meaningful conversation and to allow my patient to answer questions in her own way. I will use silence throughout my interaction in order to give my patient time to think about what she wants to say. I will do this by waiting for her answers and by encouraging my patient to take part in our interaction.
Analysis While implementing Primary Health Care models, identical to those in metropolitan areas, in a rural setting is not practical, I feel there is an obvious need to improve primary health care in remote areas. This is due to the significant health gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians, in rural and remote areas
he lesson that I can take during patient interactions are to try find the best way to accommodate patient's needs and know my limitations. For example I cannot speak Russian and my patients are Russians with limited English, however, I know they need so much help and education. I rather talk to the nurse manager and refer them to another nurse that can speak Russian or to get an interpreter to help me. It might be seem "I am washing my hands" and try to get rid of them, but my attention was to help them better.
Working well with people is an important factor in the nursing career; a nurse must always be respectful to every patient regardless of the situation. Persuasion sometimes has to be used because a patient may not want a certain medication so a nurse must help the person understand that it is what is best for him or her health and their track to recovery. A nurse must always pay close attention to their patients because if problems or concerns come up, a nurse must be the first to notice it.
As a poor Asian who ventured out of a dominantly white, small town, I understand the consequences of being a minority. This is how my passion to serve the underserved originated, and why I have partnered with service organizations such as Berea Buddies and AmeriCorps. Being a member of these empathetic communities has deepened my gratitude for how beautifully diverse our world is and for all people regardless of the challenges they face. For example, upon entering my service year to mentor children in D.C. public schools, I was told by almost everyone that there is no helping those children because of the family and monetary problems they encounter. Their responses reminded me of the comments I heard when I decided my life after high-school.
The first and most important method would be, respecting the resident’s voice. As a nurse aide, I want to make sure that my residents are being heard. I want them to be able to come to me when they need help or have problems. I also want them to know that I am here for them.
Compassion, Dedication, Responsibility, Empathy these are just some of the many things nurses should have when caring for a patient. I have had the opportunity to provide service at St. Elizabeth’s hospital. I worked with St. Elizabeth Hospital Patient Portal Program; I would go from room to room and ask
For the last six weeks in both mental and acute setting, I have reflected on events that I had met in each week. Now, I am going to identify essential personal learning outcomes from those events and will include personal awareness of strengths and weaknesses. Among the different models of reflection, I will use the Gibbs model of reflection which entails six stages such as description, feelings, evaluation, analysis, conclusion, action plan.
Understanding that part of the success in recovering the patient lies in a good communication and it makes part of the success in recovering the patient. Starting the work with the patients, the first one that I consider the vital importance is in the form in which we establish a verbal and non-verbal communication. The first and most important thing I can do for a patient beginning the day is just to smile using a calm and welcoming voice. Then, as a patient care provider, it’s when I begin to develop a close nurse-patient relationship
This semester I learned a lot about writing in English 151. It has been a roller coaster ride with these essays for me this semester. I learned step by step how to write a good essay and how to have your readers be engaged in what you’re trying to tell them. Each essay I did has taught me something valuable I can take to the next level of English. I feel as if as the semester went by I did not take my writing that seriously and that reflected in my grades I received in each essay. It made me a better student and writer and it will reflect next semester. In this essay, I will reflect on what I learned throughout this semester that you should apply in your writing when you begin English 151.
opinion about respecting and understading other people, respecting your clients is the first step and aslo the only way toward the success in order to build up a good patient-nurse' relationship. For my personal experience, I was admitted to Horsby hospital for an operation, although I was hospitalised one night only and got discharged next day, I felt the nurses were so caring and were showing empathy, I remembered they gave me "a pile of" blankets when I was so shivery because of just out from operation room. The nurses approached me always with all smiles and kindliness. All because of the nice treating team, I could overcome my body ache.
The nurse must initially evaluate the patient’s charts for any bacterial precautions and fall risks. As the nurse walks into the patient’s room, the nurse begins by making sure the environment is clean and safe. The nurse would do this by gathering equipment, washing hands thoroughly, and wear gloves. The nurse is then to greet the patient, introducing self, then let them know exactly what you came to do. The nurse should first ask the patient for his or her name, birthdate, location of where the patient is currently at, and the reason as to what
