Operations Plan Supply Chain Whenever a new business starts up, they try to imitate successful aspects of other companies. VR Coffee Café is no different, our business’ supply chain will closely resemble that of other successful coffee shop companies, such as Starbucks. Starbucks’ supply chain’s primary activities include: logistics, operations, marketing and sales, and service (Bajpai, 2014). Since we already discussed VR Coffee Café’s marketing, sales, and service, this section will discuss VR Coffee Café’s logistics and day to day operations. Regarding our logistics, our company will receive our coffee from Java Bean Plus. Java Bean Plus offers a variety of green coffee that we will be able to roast ourselves (Java Bean Plus, n.d.). We will be using fair trade certified coffee; this is coffee that has been certified to have been produced according to fair trade standards. Fair trade coffee certifies that the coffee farmers are given a decent living wage, they work in a safe and clean environment, and they have rights, such as the right to unionize (Fair Trade USA, n.d.). Fair trade coffee also helps with improving the lives of everyone in the coffee villages by investing in housing, schooling, the natural environment, and their local economy (Fair Trade USA, n.d.). VR Coffee Café’s will receive our meats and cheeses from Boar’s Head Provision Company. Our bread and pastries will be made using locally sourced products when available.
