Since then, the U.S. government has enforced immigration to target people of Muslims backgrounds. They are targets to further investigations, interrogations, and deportation. United States policy makers have questioned the process in admitting Syrian refugees, especially the security vetting procedures. The vetting process starts with the United Nations referring only those people who are vulnerable and/or tortured. This also includes people who have been victimized and are helpless. If there is a problem, they veto the admission. The process takes two years or more, and a very small number of people are admitted.
The refugee situation has been important because it allows the U.S. alert about keeping out those who pose a threat to our national

refugee policy. The report details the U.S. refugee admissions process and placement of arriving refugees. Refugee admission and resettlement in the U.S. are authorized by the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA), as amended by the Refugee Act of 1980 (Congressional Digest 2016). The two purposes for the act were providing a uniform procedure for refugee admissions. Also it authorized federal assistance to resettle refugees and promote their self-sufficiency (Congressional Digest 2016). Arriving refugees in 2015 were placed in 48 States and the District of Columbia. Once admitted to the United States, refugees are eligible for initial and longer-term resettlement …show more content…
has admitted thousands of people in tragedies, the Syrian Civil War continues and this will result in more admissions. In 2013, the U.S. admitted 69,909 refugees and granted asylum to 25,199 individuals (Dakwar 2016). It also increased grants of immigration protection for victims. However, following the Syrian refugee crisis, more than 4 million Syrians have fled conflict and violence in their home country, and 6.5 million have been displaced internally.
In 2014 a group is created and is Al-Qaida’s enemy, the group is known as ISIS. America opposes ISIS. We are here today because the administration has failed. ISIS is our enemy, the U.S. needs to fight them and defeat them. America stands for freedom. We are the beacon of light, of democracy, of freedom in the world. And part of that value of America is allowing people who are escaping monsters like ISIS to be able to become Americans like us. We need to screen and make sure that we are completely safe. But if we stop that program, we give ISIS a win
Currently, the United States is very restrictive in its admission and resettlement of refugees. Since the ongoing Syrian war has resulted in the largest refugee crisis in history, this should not be the case. First, compared to other nations, the United States has had more experience resettling refugees. This experience would be highly
People all over the world have been asking themselves if it is right for their country to let in refugees from Syria. It is a question everybody fears from answering because of the consequences it may take. Several states in America have denied the entry because of security reasons and the over population. Even if there are several countries still refusing Syrians there are a few who are accepting them. Looking at some articles, I’ve seen differential opinions and one must read and understand why Syria refugees need a chance to be rescued from all the chaos and horror they’ve been through.
The topic about Texas stepping out of the federal refugee resettlement has been causing controversy since November of 2015. Nevertheless, before introducing the topic, we should know that the term “refugee” can be defined as “person who is unable or unwilling to return to his or her home country because of a “well-founded fear of persecution” due to race, membership in a particular social group, political opinion, religion, or national origin.” (Johnson). The controversy caused about this topic is due to Texas governor’s concerns about security threads from the Syrian refugees, however, the Federal government has a security process that is applied to every refugee that entries in the country. Moreover, we will review the next question: What is the government’s legal process to let the refugees in the United States?
Many U.S. citizens have no problem with Syrian refugees coming to America. According to both “Why America Could-and Should-Admit More Syrian Refugees.” and “Our Responsibility to Refugees”, The authors feel that The people of the United States are turning their backs on the refugees. In “Why America Could-and Should-Admit More Syrian Refugees.” the author says, “The United States has resettled over three million refugees, offering victims of persecution and conflict the opportunity to build a new life. Refugee resettlement is unequivocally safe. It would be wrong, both morally and politically, to curtail Syrian refugee resettlement, and why it is in fact both ethically imperative and politically expedient to instead expand U.S. commitment to refugee resettlement” (Long). This author sees nothing to fear from refugees. Furthermore, the writer of “Our Responsibility to Refugees” states, “The U.S. can do more and we must. Since 2011, more than 4.2 million Syrians have been displaced by war and violence, and fewer than 3,000 of them have resettled in the U.S. President Barack Obama has committed to resettling 10,000 Syrian refugees in the U.S. His administration needs to
The United States defines a refugee as”any person who is outside any country of such person’s nationality or, in the case of a person having no nationality, is outside any country in which such person last habitually resided, and who is unable or unwilling to return to, and is unable to avail himself or herself of the protection of, that country because of persecution, or a well-founded fear of persecution on account of race, religion, nationality, membership in a particular social group, or political opinion.” The president may also designate certain people who are within their country of nationality or habitual residence as refugees. However, those who have ordered, incited, assisted, or otherwise participated in the persecution of others are not included in any meaning of the word refugee. Citation Once a refugee has been referred for resettlement , the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) determines whether to admit the applicant based on several interviews, background checks and other criteria. Once a decision is made the refugee’s case is given to a resettlement agency.
I believe this is not an adequate answer as the perspective of him being the father to Gracie, any father would do whatever it takes to save/ protect their child. As any parent, they would do anything and everything for their child if they were in great danger. Such as, Gracie being stolen. Even if he would’ve been arrested, he would go to jail and know that he tried to protect and save his daughter.
In conclusion, I strongly agree and support the ideas of allowing more Syrian refugees to United States since it’s all global responsibility to give them equal opportunities to survive. These refugees suffered from the war and were also the victims of the Islam State and the terror group. We can’t judge someone by his or her religion beliefs or where they came from. Therefore, we should accept and welcome them!
Families: I establish a positive and productive relationship with families by building trust, giving respect, communication and consistency. I greet each child and family daily. When I inform parents of issues with their children, I do so in a positive manner using the sandwich method. This method gives strengths before stating any issues or concerns and allows the parent and myself to come to a meeting of the minds on the best way to approach correcting problems. This also allows parents to contribute to positive ways of working together to help further the child’s education and development.
Syria has been having many problems lately. There is a war currently going on ,and Syria is in need to transport their citizens to another country. Our group will focus on getting the refugees to be able to enter the United States. There has been issues in the United States in which refugees aren’t able to enter the
Many people believe that the United States should not let Syrian refugees into the United States to escape war would damage the country’s safety and way of life, but the U.S. should allow them in because it provides these immigrants such as humanitarian aid, safer families, a well- rounded education, and a strengthened workforce. As the Syrian Civil War rages, ISIS bombs the Middle East, and Russia targets airstrikes, thousands of Syrian refugees flee their home and country with their lives. Children cannot go to school and parents are running out of money. They need aid, but in the war-torn cities there is little help that these people can find. Separated from their jobs, livelihood, and families, they can
The dilemma regarding the American refugee policy and America’s stance on refugees at this point in time is a challenging topic for many to discuss. Not only is this controversy affecting Americans, it is also hurting refugees in desperate need of our help. America needs to start handling the emerging refugee crisis by first working to remove the stereotype associated with refugees, then the U.S. needs to assess which refugee countries should (if any) actually be banned, and after accomplishing those-- America needs to work to help the countries in need by letting refugees in, and working to help the refugees live happily in their country of origin.
A refugee is someone who has been forced to flee their country due to persecution, war or violence. They are placed in different countries around the world to find refuge which means they will be safe and stable in a refugee camp. Refugees go through a rough time trying to get into the U.S. due to the U.S.’s current policy of admitting refugees. In the article “The U.S. admissions process” states that the screening process takes 18 to 24 months to approve of one refugee and if a refugee is approved for resettlement in the U.S. then they can enter the U.S. and get help , but if they don’t then they’ll be back in their country (U.S. Committee For Refugees And Immigrants).
The process for Syrian refuges is a long one, a year or longer. They are interviewed, background checked, and fingerprinted. The refugees that are applying for resettlement are native to Syria but have been living in Turkey, Jordan, and possibly Lebanon according to Devon Cone (2015). The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration website also includes information about the Refugee processes.
A refugee is defined as an individual who has been forced to leave their country due to political or religious reasons, or due to threat of war or violence. There were 19.5 million refugees worldwide at the end of 2014, 14.4 million under the mandate of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), around 2.9 million more than in 2013. The other 5.1 million Palestinian refugees are registered with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA). With the displacement of so many people, it is difficult to find countries willing to accept all the refugees. There are over 125 different countries that currently host refugees, and with this commitment comes the responsibility of ensuring these refugees have access to
The author began the document by describing the catastrophic events that took place and ends it on good note of civilization. The author on small bases happens to argue on how we human kind have turned into brutal species, that we are not concern about anyone else but our own self. He gives an example of terrorist attack on world trade center (in New York), genocide in Rwanda, and Khmer rouge to support his argument. According to me, author argument on human species being the most selfish is very true, we have lost our ability to think wider and open, we have lost our moral values and principles. The author than describes the barbarism and the civilization in broader and main form of argument.
