Organization Descriptions & Stakeholders Organization Description Communities Healing Adolescent Depression and Suicide (CHADS) Coalition was founded by Marian And Larry McCord in memorial of their son. The mission of CHADS is to save young lives by advancing the awareness and prevention of depression and suicide. CHADS has made significant accomplishments by outreach staff and strong ties with schools. Various successful programs are offered, such as school outreach programs, community awareness presentations and classes, and family support programs. For instance, with the efforts of CHADS, many schools in St. Louis area have already implemented the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program (OBPP), and have made a significant reduction of peer aggressive
Good friendships gained in school will last long past graduation day. People never think it would be their friend they lose to suicide, it happens. Everyone likes to push it aside and not talk about it but communicating with others can make a difference. That is exactly how Ben Finnie felt when his cousin named Kaleigh Finnie ended her own life as a college student. A daily national morning talk show also known as The Today Show interviewed Ben about his way of spreading the word about suicide prevention. Ben is addressing this issue by working among more than two thousand high school and college students through the Direct Change program in California by creating sixty second public service announcements videos to raise awareness about mental illness and suicide. (Stump 2016) Jana Sczersputowski, the founder and project director for Directing Change Program told TODAY, “Over the past four years we have received countless stories from youth and teachers who have shared how our program has opened up conversations in the classroom, home and between friends.” (Stump 2016) Finnie shared with the talk show, “I do not care whether it is one person or thousands of people, the simple facts that is could save a life, that is all that really matters.” (Stump
In this assignment, I will be talking about what stakeholders mean and the different components of the key stakeholders based on two organisations: Debenhams and Water Aid. A stakeholder is when a person shows a keen interest in the activities of a business, directly or indirectly.
Suicide is the second leading cause of death among teens who feel that the world is better without them. I want to make a program in school to help kids who are in need of mental assistance and care. One of my friends is suicidal and told me she didn’t feel like anyone wanted her here anymore. I immediately told her she was worth it, that she should keep holding on, but people like her need someone to talk to while staying anonymous, so they don't have to worry about their parents talking with potential therapists. I think a school program could help that. Having somebody to talk to while staying unidentified may be important to a kid who doesn’t want to confide in anyone out of fear. Knowing that they could get help without feeling exposed could help a suicidal
There has been a decade-long spike in the awareness of mental illness and suicide ideation among teenagers and young adults. Accordingly, researchers have determined, based on the results of numerous studies and trials, that there exists the possibility of dramatically reducing mental illness, suicides and suicidal behavior, thereby raising the potential of promoting overall wellness among young people. Many political leaders and mental health professionals, encouraged by the results of the studies, have asked school administrators and community leaders to enact awareness and prevention programs in their jurisdictions, while requesting that program leaders take responsibility for program results (e.g., No Child Left Behind, 2002).
The next educational effort would be the students at all schools with the focus on “health risks and nutrition and knowing what suicide looks like” in your friends or family. During education, the health maintenance and grief resource center would be initiated with location information given to all clinics, dentists, mental health counselors, schools, local hospitals, and churches. This approach to community assessment allows the PHN the understanding of historical trauma, sociocultural, and economic contexts and meaning to create partnerships with individuals, families, groups and communities promoting improved overall health and mental health (Stanhope & Lancaster, 2016). The focus of this program would center around Lake County Montana with adolescent and younger children at the forefront. Outreach, follow-up, and counseling is an impediment to improvement and stabilization for the mental health individual, which could be a risk factor for suicide and other health-related concerns. To assist with this goal, a grant will be required to cover financial needs. For example, The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s Research Grants awards monies from 30,000 to 1.5 million for suicide prevention, in 2015 they awarded 17 grantees for studies and programs to prevent suicide (afsp.org). These dollars will assist
Working at the Elmcrest Children’s Center this semester has opened my eyes to so many different issues that children face in our own community. The children that are sent to Elmcrest go through psycho-social evaluations before they are fully admitted to see exactly how the child reacts to certain situations and stimuli. During my time at Elmcrest, there have been kids that have been discharged to other programs due to the fact that they had dealt with suicidal thoughts and needed more intensive care than Elmcrest was able to provide. When I saw the article, “Physical and Psycho-Social Predictors of Adolescents’ Suicide Behavior” I knew that it would be extremely beneficial for me to learn more about what triggers these behaviors and how they
Temple University initiated to develop 35,000 seat football stadium with an estimated cost of $100 million in the campus area of Philadelphia (Clearing the Way for a Football Stadium. Philly.com). The objective of this stakeholder analysis paper is to identify the most powerful and influential stakeholders of Temple University stadium using three attributes - power, legitimacy and urgency. There are two divisions of stakeholders- Primary and Secondary Stakeholders. According to Clarkson (1995), Primary stakeholders are the most important groups as there is high level of dependency between each other and without which the organization/Institute cannot survive. On the other hand, Secondary stakeholders are those who don’t have direct

While the exhibit centered around drawing the attention to the number of youths who commit suicide each year, it also functioned as a venue for students to become aware of the resources on campus that are accessible to them. The Center for Health and Counseling Center offers free and confidential counseling to all Ramapo College students, as well as therapy group sessions and emergency counseling services after office hours through the Office of Public
The overall focus of this specialty group is on challenging thought processes and behaviors that contribute to maintaining anxiety and depression. The adolescents enrolled in this program receive group, individual, and family therapy. There is a strong psycho-educational component regarding diagnoses for both the teens and their families. Medication consultation takes place with a board certified child/adolescent psychiatrist. The school liaison works with the school professionals to provide additional information about the adolescent’s diagnosis and how it may affect school performance.
There is too much teen suicide in the United States. Many teens who are depressed have mental issues such as depression, anxiety, bipolar, schizophrenia, etc. Often, teens who have these issues feel as if they don’t belong. They don’t feel like talking about certain things going on in their life. Issues regarding sexuality, bullying, and abuse make children feel hopeless and unwanted. They feel alone. The suicide rate has gone up dramatically. There are approximately 100,000 suicides per year and 10,000 to 20,000 of them being from ages 14 to 24. Suicide is also the 3rd leading cause of death for teens.
Common goals and potential synergy between an organisation and a stakeholder is identified by understanding the needs and interests of an organisation and the stakeholder and establishing goals that can be long or short term that will be able to meet the needs and expectations of the stakeholders. You can establish these goals by communicating and negotiating with the stakeholders. By communicating you will also be able to understand what the capabilities of the stakeholder are with resources and finances.
