Communication is the lifeline of all business without effective communication failure is sure to occur. The organization I worked for was all about communication both verbal and non-verbal. Different business situations and different employee needs demand the use of multiple communication modes to drive the message home effectively. By the company, having an understanding of the benefits of various types of organizational communication it help our management team communicate more effectively.
Our upper management communicates through nonverbal communication, which is through emails, text and fax. That can be effective to some because the emails may not be for all employee’s , the text messages can be used to get a message to a person or persons rapidly and a fax can send information to you that you can get later if you don’t have time to respond right away. As a company overall we saved money by communicating more through nonverbal communication than we would have verbally. Money saved by not driving from location to location to speak to a manager, employee, or corporate office. In that aspect, you saved on gas as well as wear and tear on company vehicles.
This would be a positive for all anytime you can save to the bottom line of your organization. There were times verbal communication, was used as well especially within the lower level of management. Which is
All businesses understand that they must use effective communication in order to do well as a business, without communication the business will be a mess and would not run successfully. Using communication allows the employees and offices to stay up to date with the businesses progress and what is currently happening. To use effective means of communication all employees would be in a way trained in order to understand communication and use the most effective means for it. This is done in advance to checking that communication is understood by the recipient.
With effective communication there would be a positive atmosphere in the work place, the staff would be more than willing to help each other out. Communication would be better as everything would be
According to (), Organizational Behaviour is the field of study that analyze the performance of the individuals as well as group within an organization in corporate industry. Organizational behaviour assists the management of the organization in business sector to identify the manner of the employees.
As stated by Robbins and Judge (2011), “organizational behavior is a field of study that investigates the impact that individuals, groups, and structure have on behavior within
Organizational behavior studies the impact of groups, individuals, and structures have on the personal human behavior within many organizations. There is many different definitions of organizational behavior, but they are all relatively the same in all cases. “Organizational behavior studies organizations from multiple viewpoints, including behavior within the organization and in relation to other organizations (Boundless.com).” This is not just the study on one organization, but the study within one organization as well as the organization affects other organizations. Organizations can vary in size and all have different outcomes inside the workplace. There are many reasons to study organizational behavior; one of the biggest reasons is to find out what is the best way for a company to operate. If you can pinpoint all of the bad habits a company has and can reverse them, then you will have a better performing company. Everyone company studies their organizational behavior is some way. Calling out an employees and correcting their mistakes is one example. Organizational behavior is only a study on the field and not an actual group within an organization. Almost all actions of an individual can have either a positive or negative affect on a company. Anything from attitude to behavior reflected from the attitudes of people can affect the outcome of a problem.
Organizational behavior is defined as the study of individuals and groups in organizations. (Schermerhorn, 2005) Organizational behaviors are the way in which employees or teams conduct themselves with in the organization. The organization may set the tune with its mission, vision, and
Communication is everything. If people do not communicate issues going on, upcoming events, or changes being made, the business will fail. The employees must communicate any issues that take place in order for those issues to stop. The organization needs to communicate the events or changes that take place in order for the employees to be prepared and to be able to communicate the correct information to customers. The lines of communication are effective and result in peak productivity for the staff members and the business.
There are two types of communication in an organization, formal and informal. Informal channels of communication are often found in informal groups, such as a peer group or a unit based council. This communication is most effective, and allows for the discussion about ideas and issues that are present and understood by all (Fallon, Begun & Riley, 2013). Formal channels of communication are stricter and fall down the hierarchy from managers to the subordinate people or vice versa. Such formal communication could include things like a verbal presentation or document that expresses a problem, new idea or policy. Communication is especially important in the organization because of relevance of conflict between employees. A person who exhibits positive communication techniques during conflict is an active listener, is able to decipher information and turn it into something both parties involved can understand and shows others that they are competent and able to stimulate a resolution to issues (Porter-O’Grady & Malloch,
One of the most important things a business needs to be successful is happy employees. It is important for employees and managers have an established plan to deal with critical matters. Managers must study the behavior of their employees to decide how they will achieve their desired goals. Organizational behavior is "the study of human behavior in organizational settings, the interface between human behavior and the organization, and the organization itself. (Griffin, 2012)" We can divide organizational behavior in 3 separate categories. The first one is the individuals within the organization. The second is the work group which is made by placing workers into specific groups. The last one is how the organization itself behaves.
According to Laurie J. Mullins (2013. pp.4-5), “Organizational Behavior is concerned with the study of the behavior of people within an organizational setting, generally along the lines of understanding of individual and group behavior, and patterns of structure in order to help improve organizational performance and effectiveness.”
Communication addresses how information circulates among the employees of a company, how information is passed from one person to another in ways such as email, phone conversations and face-to-face also known as formal and informal communication. Both methods are used with the lower-level employees and within supervisors and management patterns of communication. Communication is one of the most important skills that one can have to be successful in life. Whether you’re a student, a family member, a friend, or an employee one cannot just do away with communication. Communication is not only
Organizational behavior is vastly unique for each organization. Positive or negative behavior has far reaching effects on the internal and external environments. What elements helps develop the behavior of an organization? Organizational behavior is the main ingredient of all organizations, and can be the building block that rejoices successful, or screams failure. Elements such as the type of culture, form of communication, disposition of authority, motivational methods, emotional intelligence measures, and virtual component factors all have a part of organizational behavior. Successful organizations are mindful of every arena, and strategically prepare for and implement change where and when it is needed; thus building an organizational behavior of encouragement, ethical practices, as well as trust and commitment to see the vision and mission to fruition.
Organizational behavior is the behavior of individuals, either one or a group. It is not the behavior of an organization, but rather the behavior of the people in an organization. This can be anywhere from a family at home to a church to a work group within a company. Some of the challenges that make behaviors challenging in today’s workplace are high performance, ethical behavior, productivity improvement, technology utilization, quality, diversity, work-life balance, and the global economy, (Schermerhorn, 2003, P. 1).
Communication is essential in all facets of an organization. It can aid in decision making, planning and conflict resolution. The ability to effectively communicate allows facilitation of relationships between superiors and subordinates; essentially this creates higher job satisfaction (Dogra, A., 2012). Open communication where employees have opportunity to voice their ideas and concerns, corelates to employees feeling a sense of value within the organization, which creates motivation (Dogra, A., 2012). Furthermore, in conjunction with these ideas, a sense of partnership and loyalty begin to develop between subordinates and superiors. The responses to this are typically seen in greater responsibility being given to the subordinate.
Communication is an essential component in any relationship, including how it affects organizational behaviors. Too much, or lack thereof, can determine if the message was properly sent, understood, and received. According to Popovic and Hocenski (2009), leaders need to be able to communicate to their subordinates in language they can understand regardless of their level within the organization (Popovic & Hocenski, 2009, pp. 15-16). Because communication is a vital part of organizational structure, leaders need to have a thorough understanding of communication. “To determine which verbal communication behaviors are commonly used, one needs to first establish the relationship between
