Organized Crime Group Analysis In this paper it was asked of us as a team to give an in-depth historical analysis of an organized crime group. With this class being about organized crime one would think to write about mobsters, but we decided to think outside the box. Even though when thinking of organized crime the first thought is The Italian Mafia and groups of that sort, one has to remember that organized crime comes in many different forms of organizations. From this class we were able to understand more on organized crime and who can be classified as an organized crime organization. Organizations that one would never really think of as having ties to organized crime may have some

Bite, 2012). The structure of the Aryan Brotherhood was built on race and control to protect its white members in prison but on the outside its street distribution saw only one color green. As for its political gain the group says it has no political ties what so ever. Through my readings I found that there is a link between the Aryan brotherhood and KKK and that’s in the military. Scott Barfield a defense department investigator said “Recruiters are knowingly allowing neo-Nazis and white supremacists to join the army forces, and commanders do not remove them from the military even after we positively identify them as extremists or gang members”. In the U.S there have been members of the Klan that held political ground Robert Byrd Dem U.S senator and David Duke Louisiana St. legislature are some. It’s a latter effect from prison to politics but within my readings the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Now-a-days The Aryan Brotherhood is dwindling in groups and more are being spread out and held in isolation all over the U.S to dismember groups (B.G. Bite, 2011) The Aryan Brotherhood run illegal businesses as themselves or allied with other gangs (Aryan Brotherhood, 2012). In 1972 it is said that the Aryan Brotherhood formed an alliance with the Mexican Mafia so that they could all import drugs into the U.S. The
Aryan Brotherhood was found in 1964 in a Federal prison system, which is San Quentin State Prison in California, United States. This gang was known as the “Brand or AB”. The brotherhood is a white supremacist prison gang that is known for the violent criminal activities in and out of prison. During the 1960`s, a group of white convicts serving time at San Quentin, were fed up with the with white prisoners being victimized by one particular predominant gang known as “The Black Gorilla Family”. However, that’s when whites started Aryan Brotherhood for their own protection. Aryan Brotherhood based their gang off Nazism, so to get into the gang, you had to kill a black prisoner. Which brings us to their motto, “Blood In, Blood Out”. Blood in refers
After looking into two hate groups the American Nazi Party and United Klans of America, it was noticeable that the two groups racial hatred stemmed from the fear of the well-being of their own race. Both groups fear that United States is in jeopardy of becoming a racially mixed country rather than a white one. They view many minorities coming into the country and they fear that these people will replace them. This is the reason they have distress over white people losing their jobs to minorities and the government having policies that favor minorities. It is interesting, both groups claim to not be racist, but they voice opinions stating that each race should have their own separate country. Compared to the United Klans of America, the American Nazi Party does not advocate for violence and looks to use more political tools to get their point across. On the other hand, the United Klans of America claims they will not hesitate to use violence. After researching these two groups, there is no doubt that both groups possess strong racial hatred to a wide variety of minorities groups that include Jews, blacks, Muslims, Hispanics, and homosexuals.
These were the people fighting against equal rights for black people and other minorities back in the 50’s and 60’s. There has not been a unitary Klan since 1944, but there has been smaller break off groups that have the same message of hate and that are still fighting against equal rights. White supremacist prison gangs have the biggest growth rate of white supremacists. These groups start in prison and continue to grow and stay active outside of prison when the inmates gets out. The prison gangs are the ones committing organized crimes. The two most famous prison gangs are both located in California, Aryan Brotherhood and Nazi Lowriders. Aryan brotherhood was founded in 1964 by Irish bikers at the San Quentin state prison. This gang is exclusively made of 20,000 white male members. Nazi Lowriders is a smaller gang with 1,000 to 5,000 members, but just as dangerous. In 1996, two members from Nazi Lowriders, Danny Williams and Eric Dillard, beat and stabbed a black teenage to death. How these groups are fighting will not make what they want happen. When people hear about these groups, everyone thinks of negative things. Majority of America knows what these people are fighting for is
White supremacists embraced the term ‘Aryan’ advocating ideologically driven white supremacy. Hitler manipulated Darwinism in order to avoid any further contamination of the Aryan ‘master race’. ‘Aryan’ in Nazi ideology was an individual considered racially superior. (Bergman, 1999) The AB combines the violence of a Prison gang, the power and money of organized crime and Nazi ideology. (The Aryan Brotherhood documentary, 2014) New recruits are schooled in Nazism and the superiority of whites. However in order to gain control over criminal enterprise, gangs form business alliances. (ADL, 2002) For the AB “…Organized crime comes first and white supremacist ideology second”. (ADL, 2013) The AB forged an alliance with the well-established Mexican Mafia for ‘business.’ The AB subsequently gained power and reputation. (Morales, 2013) The use of non-white business associates has initiated hostility with other white supremacist
The Ku Klux Clan, notoriously known as the (KKK), was first established as a social club. As time progressed, the clan became an underground movement dedicating itself to violent acts of terror. The clan’s primary goal was to repress Republican leaders and voters, both white and black, in attempts to restore white supremacy. The Federal Government attempted to step in and intervene but consequently failed in their attempts.
They, in the beginning of their existence, claimed that they were a Christian organization, but in later years they persecuted Catholics and performed violent acts against them. Throughout their existence, they haven't had any known alliances with other hate or terrorist groups. They recruit by using fliers, hosting rallies, and by using word of mouth. They look to add white, Christian adults who personally oppose anyone that isn't like them. The group was definitely effective during their peaks, which occurred around the 1870s, 1920s, and 1960s. They often used times of uncertainty and change, to rise to power, such as the Reconstruction period, WWI, and the Civil Rights Protests. Today, the Southern Poverty Law Center "estimates that there are between 5,000 and 8,000 Klan members, split among dozens of different - and often warring - organizations that use the Klan name." (1) Their overall goal is similar to Hitler's as they are looking for a purification of the American population in which everyone who isn't white should either be killed or not be here. And lastly, they are not supported by anyone outside their group, which is a major reason why they are not prevalent today and why America's population is as diverse as it is
There is no stronger incentive than fear. Clans and secret societies are everywhere; Lawyers, police man, business man, politicians, life insurance sellers, car sellers and real estate agents are just some examples .The difference between them and the Ku Klux Klan is the aim and the means used to achieve their objective. The Klan’s aims is “by force and terror ,to prevent al political action not in accord with the views of member ,to deprive colored citizens of the right to bear arms and of the right of a free ballot ,to suppress the schools in which colored children were taught ,and to reduce the colored people to a condition closely allied to that of slavery”( Levitt ,
The Mexican Mafia, or “La Eme”, as they refer to themselves, is one of the most powerful and influential organized crime gangs in the United States. The organization has risen through the decades of mass gang wars and violence to become the power it is today. Their control is limitless and they have ventured far beyond the expectations of what was thought that gangs were capable of. They have infiltrated governments and manipulated politics. They have taken over neighborhoods and attempted to ethnically cleanse them. Innocent people have become caught up in the affairs of La Eme throughout its history and many have faced violence and death at their hands. This paper is a continual of the case analysis of the Mexican Mafia and will attempt to provide explanations for some of the crimes committed by this organization. Researching gangs and organized crime is important because of their large influence and control over many aspects of daily life. The significance of attempting to provide causations of their crimes can better provide the criminal justice system a clearer understanding of problems that lead to gang members committing crimes on behalf of the organization. A clearer understanding of problems can help the system to provide solutions to combat situations that inhibit crimes.
Duke attempted to achieve political power in the states and then at a national level (Southern Poverty Law Center, 2017). They also stride to keep all people for other races from gaining any type of power within The United States. The mission of the KKK KKK is to protect their past history and protect the future in their beliefs. They believe there is a war against their people; children cherished way of life and their principles. They believe they need to preserve their way of life. Since be reorganized the KKK KKK does not believe in hate despite what the group stands for. The group also claims that it neither endures nor condones violence of kind or form (Ku Klux Klan, 2016).
Organized crime groups are usually made up of members with similar ethnic backgrounds (e.g., Italian Mafia, Irish Mob) with the prime objective of seeking wealth and power. In the 1920’ during Prohibition, Organized Crime were instrumental in illegal alcohol sales. The success of Organized depends on an extensive peripheral network. That peripheral network involves bankers, politicians and law enforcement; ergo, these portals revolving around business activity protects the core of organized crime (Stratfor, 2010).
Drug trafficking organizations involves criminal threat that are a significant concern to federal, state, and local law enforcement officials. Drug trafficking is an organized crime group in the United States, nearly 40% of organized crime groups. Organized crime group involves drug trafficking, as well other illicit activity. There are a number of many drug trafficking organizations that are brought to the United States, although they are very structured and in operation they affect each other. Drug business believes in supply and demand, drug
According to The Federal Bureau of Investigation (2016), organized crime is any group having some manner of a formalized structure and whose primary objective is to obtain money through illegal activities. These types of groups are national and international they have set up shop throughout the inner working of everyday citizen’s lifestyle. They are business owner, computer technician, bankers, etc. Those individual who partake in these types of activities
Organized crime can have a huge effect not only on individuals, but also on a whole economy due to the black market and its illegal operations. Organized crime also tries to penetrate into legal businesses to strengthen the overall organization. Organizations members and the organizations itself, increases its legal money by investing in power and influence which thus givens them comfortability and a sense of feeling secure (Verhage and Ponsaers, 2009, p.407). Since, individual make up a crime family or organization, one cannot just look at money laundering on a group level, but must also look at those that make up the group and help earn a profit for the organization, they are a part and play more an important role than the organization as
There are several state-sponsored definitions of organized crime. According to Lyman & Potter (2014), FBI defines organized crime as any group having formal structure whose objective is to obtain money illegally. Internal Revenue Service defines organized crime as individuals or groups combined to obtain monetary, commercial gains, or profits by illegal
There are few adults in this country who have not heard of the terms “Mafia”, the “Mob”, or “Organized Crime”. Hence, there are probably as many opinions of what these terms mean as there are people who know them. Over the years, my perceptions about organized crime came mainly through Hollywood productions or news accounts of criminal activity. Overall, I have had a disapproving opinion of organized crime. I would say that for the most part my perceptions prior to enrollment in this class have been verified by the realities presented in the text, other readings, and videos. However, there are of course significant disparities between my knowledge and the actual facts of the groups.
