Where did the history of basketball start out and where will it be in the future? These are some of the many questions that will be talked about during my time writing this essay. Some of the many questions that will be answered my be controversial to some and interesting for others. There are many ways I can talk about basketball but in this essay the points I make will come from historical facts and analysis. This is an essay that will tell you the reader about the origin of basketball and where it is headed. The final position known as the center, he is in most cases the guy who rebounds and defends at high levels. These are the original five positions of basketball that are still around today. These positions also come with multiple rules that have been changed since the first thirteen rules. One of the rules that have been changes is rule number three, this says that if you catch the ball you have to stay in that spot the change that was made to this rule is that you now have to dribble and move up court with the ball. Another rule that was changed when the NBA came around was the two fifteen-minute halves which is now four twelve-minute quarters with a fifteen-minute half-time. Basketball has been around since 1891 it has seen a lot of improvements and some flaws, but with its flaws basketball is a great sport. The game has grown from a sport with just a few teams in the northeast to a nationwide sport with thirty NBA teams in almost all states and one in Canada. Basketball has also grown in paying wise, from the original $2.50 for home games and $1.50 for road game to the now league minimum of $507,336 for players who have not been in the NBA for ten years to $1,448,490 for those who have been playing for ten years. Basketball also saw in less then 100 years Juwan Howard get offers from the bullets and heat for $100 million for seven years. This was the biggest offer for a player for at its time. Juwan might have been the most expensive player, but he was far from a star. The NBA’s first star was Walt Chamberlain from UCLA later being joined by future star Bill Russell from San Francisco University. Walt and Bill would open up the door for future superstars like Michael Jordan, Irving (magic) Johnson, and Nate Archibald. Players like Michael, Magic, and Nate would open up the same door for stars we all know today as LeBron James, Russell Westbrook, and Kobe Bryant. The doors that opened for them will open for future stars of the game and the people who dream about becoming a superstar.
