The historical perception that was going on in this film took account the years before, it would be a big leap to assume that they released this film just on the 2012 historical events. Going back a year before the film was released in 2011, big things did happen that put some relief on America. Back in May 2011 the assassination of Osama bin Laden occurred. “ A bold cross-border raid at night by navy SEALs killed Osama bin Laden, who had been living comfortably in the shadow of Pakistan’s premier military academy.” (Oliver et al., 2014) Relation of how they disposed of his body, was like one of the killings of one of the families in a way that they died. “ In euphoria the raid created in the U.S., celebrating the skill and power of the SEALs …show more content…
He probably thought about every mistake he made moving into that house. Should have known that is 15 minutes of fame was over and should have just wrote college textbooks instead. Should have told his family that they were moving into a house were a family was murdered in their backyard. Once he discovered the tapes of different families getting murdered, he should have handed it over to the police. Once he discovered the connection between each family of them living in the house that he moved his family into had all been murdered, he should have moved. Once he knew that he son was starting to have night terrors again after the first night in the house that should have been a sign that an odd presence was in the house. Altogether he should have realized his family was in danger right when he stepped foot in that house. He’s small minded thinking and selfishness got him and his family …show more content…
This mass killing shocked the nation wide, of a man walking into a elementary school and shooting any and everything in site including young children. He was a determined man that planned to kill years ahead, and didn't care who he hurt or killed. Adam Lanza thought he was corrupted by his society. He sympathized for chimpanzee that nearly killed a women, “And his attack wasn’t simply because he was a senselessly violent, impulsive chimp, which was how his behavior was universally portrayed,” he continued, “He knew that [his owner] was trying to coax him back into his place of domestication, and he couldn’t handle that, so he attacked her, and anyone else who approached them.” This man’s goal was to bring pain to peoples lives, thinking he was doing people a favor. He knew to get rid of anything that could have corrupted him and take over his mind so the first person he killed was his mother. Lanza shot his mother in the head 4 times, took her car, drove to Sandy Hook, shot children and teachers, then killed himself. This was a shock that many people could not
The Sandy Hook massacre also, described as one of the deadliest shooting in all U.S history. 20 children and 6 adults were killed on December of 2012 in Newtown, Connecticut. (Connecticut) This massacre was the earliest memory I could recall on gun violence, not just learning about it but also watching it unfold and be told on news outlets all over television and social media. The Sandy Hook massacre shaped my generation by creating a more debatable topic on gun control in the United States. Through the Sociological point of view, gun violence can be understood by the functionalism, conflict, and symbolic theoretical approach. While trying to understand such event with such theories, we begin to unfold how society has shifted and changed over time, how we as a society view gun violence today and what we have done to prevent such act to happen again.
The news comes in as a good look for the US and that accomplishment somewhat ensured the re-election of Obama in 2012. A western diplomat described the news as a "game changer"- not just for al-Qaida, but also for US foreign policy in Pakistan and Afghanistan, a region embroiled in turmoil and violence in 2001.Some fear that Bin Ladens death could spark a precipitous US withdrawal from the region with the war against the Taliban in Afghanistan still unresolved("Osama Bin Laden is Dead").
On December 14, 2012 in Newtown, Connecticut, a twenty year old man, Adam Lanza, went into Sandy Hook Elementary School and opened fire in two rooms. He murdered twenty children and seven adults before turning the gun on himself (Fahrenthold). Once again, if one of these teachers would have carried a firearm, they could have possibly saved the lives of the first graders and the adults that were murdered.
In the United States mass shootings has been a problem for the last few years especially school shootings which occurs often in the country. Why in this country? Well statistics shows that the United States has 31% of all public mass shootings from 1966 to 2012. Although, the percentage has gone up for the last five years. There is a higher risk of dying at school than at any public places. The government and the president of the United States are not treating this problem right and it has become a phenomenon in the country. According to the blog “I Am Adam Lanza’s Mother: A Mom’s Perspective On the Mental Illness Conversation In America” by Liza Long, she discusses her struggles with her mentally ill son and states the lack of help she was getting. She addresses the Sandy Hook incident in Newtown, Connecticut to relate it to her situation and how she fears her son might lead to murderous attack like the Sandy Hook shooting. Many of the causes that lead to school shootings are; lack of gun control, mental health & bullying, and definitely lack of protection at schools.
Sandy Hook was a chaotic town on December 14, 2012 where gunman, Adam Lanza, shot and killed twenty children and six staff members. Many family members of the victims are still mourning the loss of their children and loved ones. Over 500 lives were affected after this tragedy (Gay). The author gives an interview of the superintendent of the school in which he shows what he did after he heard the news of the shooting. “I was in the district office and my secretary told me the bus company reported a
The occurence of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting of December 14, 2012, in Newtown, Connecticut. The gunman, was 20-year-old Adam Lana, who first shot and killed his mother at their Newtown home. He then drove to Sandy Hook Elementary School where he fatally shot 20 children and 6 adult staff members. As first responders arrived, Lana committed suicide by shooting himself in the head. The shooting began at approximately 9:30 a.m. Sandy Hook was the deadliest mass shooting at a high school or grade school in U.S. history and the second-deadliest mass shooting by a single person in U.S. history, after the 2007 Virginia Tech massacre. This shooting yet again assured the nation that gun violence is still as big of a problem as it was back in the late 90’s when 27 teenagers got killed in another mass killing in Columbine, Colorado. We as a nation must stand up and oppose mass murdering because these actions are not only unjust but inhuman as well. The increase in gun violence can be decreased by, identifying the regions in the country where the most gun violence occurs and restricting their access to limiting or monitoring the availability of guns and ammunition.
Not one person from Sandy Hook, Connecticut ever thought this sort of event would ever happen. On December 14, 2012, 20-year-old Adam Lanza fatally shot twenty children and six adult staff members in a mass murder at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Before the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, Lanza shot and killed his mother, Nancy Lanza, at his home in Newtown, Connecticut. After the shooting, Lanza successfully committed suicide before he was detained. Which left, the state, officials, and the entire country to question why Lanza would do such a horrible act of violence to innocent children and staff members of the school. Also, questioning the security of schools, and even our country. There are many conspiracies of the

14, 2012. 20 lives were taken away between the ages 6-7 including 6 staff members by 20-year old Adam Lanza ( David Morgan). The Sandy Hook Elementary shooting was one of the worst shootings in U.S. history that prompted the controversial debate over gun control and whether there should be safer regulations on guns. Similarly, six years after the tragic shooting of the Sandy Hook, The Parkland, FL sought the same experience of an active shooter Nicholas Cruz 19-year old, contributing to the lost of 17 lives. Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School students took action by protesting the rights to a stricter gun legislation that should have been enacted to protect the lives of students all around and stop the massive school shootings by letting the hands of the mentally disabled gain access to destructive weapons and cause fatal consequences at the end (“How Many More School Shootings”). Therefore, due to the series of school shootings gun laws should be
On December 14th, 2012, 20 students and six adults where shot at the Sandy Hook Elementary School. The name of the killer is Adam Lanza. First, he killed his mother after taking her guns from her house, and then shot down the Sandy Hook Elementary School. I believe that Raymond should of have not supposed to killed himself just because his mother wanted the president running at that time dead. As much as it was difficult to kill his own mother it was the right thing because his whole life was ruined. He felt guilty and shot himself after he was caught by the sergeant. There was anything else that he could have done to make his miserable life better. I believe that troops that come from war come with a different mindset and they have bad nightmares. Raymond happiness did not last long and ended his life by being brainwashed and killing good and bad
Relationships always start off good and usually we hope they stay that way, but that is not always the case. Men and woman soon find themselves in abusive relationships filled with pain and regret. Movies and T.V shows give us vast examples of abusive relationships such as intimate terrorism.
When President Barrack Obama mentioned of the September 11th attack, for a moment the wounds left in the hearts of the Americans started bleeding again. There was nothing that could that could stop the bleeding other than one statement: “the perpetrator of the attack has been brought to justice”. On the night of 2nd May 2011, the Americans were woken up by the unusual speech delivered by the 44th president of the United States of America. The speech began by the president mentioning one of the worst terror attacks that have ever happened on the American soil. At that moment, the citizens remained silent as they listened and watched the speech. All they
This film response will be discussing the award-winning documentary titled Being Osama, produced in 2004 by Tim Schwab and Mahmoud Kaabour. This movie is about exploring intimately the lives of six Arab men that are very different from one another ; in their personalities, their background and their interests. Their connection is that they share the same first name and their experiences as Arabs living in Canada in the post 9/11
Iraq for Sale is a documentary released in 2006 by Director Robert Greenwald. This film gives the audience a view on the lives of soldiers, children, and many more, who have been transformed indefinitely as an outcome of profiteering in the reconstruction of Iraq. Iraq for Sale also exposes the connections between private corporations gaining an extraneous amount of money in Iraq and the decision makers who tolerate them to do so. I learned a great amount of knowledge about this crisis, and found this documentary informative and insightful. Greenwald did a fine job at showing what goes on to every day Americans when corporations go to war.
