ENGLISH with Mrs. Spade… AWESOME FIRST WEEK! Our Dolphin Team did an excellent job assimilating to ODS over the past couple of days. We settled in, wrote a quick persuasive piece, and read the first chapter of The View From Saturday. I am already impressed and know we have a solid group this year. UPCOMING: Reading Check TVFS CH 1 A-DAY-9/11 & B-DAY 9/12 Print/Create artistic representation of yourself due 9/15 Special note: I purposefully placed some grammatical errors in last week's MSM. I wanted to see if any of our students or parents would catch them. Catch them...and tell me of course. We are a Dolphin TEAM. We need to help each other grow in all kinds of ways. We need to recognize that we are not perfect and sometimes we need help
Why resilience is important-based on the novel Island of the Blue Dolphins written by Scott O’Dell
The Dolphins are off to a rough start as they begin the season 0-3. Trying to build a better reputation, the team has been working hard to improve their skills and hopefully come out with a few wins this year. So far nothing consequential has been seen from Dana as they are yet to find the element that will take their team to victory.
There are five teams that are worthy of being called the greatest team in NFL history: the 1972 Miami Dolphins, the 1978 Pittsburgh Steelers, the 1984 San Francisco 49’ers, the 2007 Patriots, however the 1985 Chicago Bears stand out amongst the crowd because of their outrageous defense, popularity amongst the NFL fans, and their roster that was filled with Hall of Fame talent. According to the 1985 Chicago Bears Statistics & Players (2017), the team finished with a season record of 15-1. News analyst Tony Andracki (2016) stated that, “The 1985 Bears turned in one of the most dominant seasons in American Sports” (p.1).
This week assignment was really fun because it actually addressed some programming. During this week's reading I learned some new programming concepts I did not know and I acquired a better understanding on some others I get used to apply in the practice but I did not known in theory.
I really like getting into the nitty-gritty of solving problems. I was happy to see that several students actually provided solutions to the problems that were identified using Heap’s law. I wish I had the time this week to have looked into it myself. I’m hoping that we might be doing some of that next week though.
On August 24th was the Miami Dolphins football game versus the Atlanta Falcons. Although it was a preseason game it was still important because, the week before we got beat by the Dallas Cowboys 41-21,and we didn't want that to happen again. So in practice they worked harder and harder Intel it was game day. When they got off the buses they meant business, they looked ready to go. Everyone sat down at there sets 5...4...3...2...1 the boom the ball was kicked soaring as high as the birds.
In Pink Sheep’s house, Homie Dolphin was playing video games and eating burritos and Mountain Dew. When these two guys were too focused on the games a hater broke in the house and took their supplies to burritos and Mountain Dew. On his way out he took Homie Dolphin’s gold necklace worth a trillion dollars.
Banks, NASCAR, and Duke Energy; the city of Charlotte is well-known for all of these qualities. However, one thing that always pales in comparison to these traits—sports. Looking at cites like New York, Chicago, Miami and Los Angeles all have successful sports teams, whether they be football, basketball, or baseball. Charlotte in recent years has seen flashes of success but has never seen a consistent winner like other large cities in the America. Since Charlotte established sports teams, they have suffered from years of mediocrity because of a lack of star talent.
This week was full of topics that I had not studied before. I enjoyed learning about the Mexican American War. This is a topic I am very unfamiliar with. As a resident of Texas, I was surprised how much I did not know. I had always assumed that Mexico had a weak army so learning that they had a bigger and more powerful army was interesting. I was also unfamiliar with all the figures that played a role in the Mexican American war. I wonder if we could have a president who now who is able to keep his campaign promises now the way James K. Polk did. It was encouraging to me to see that the American soldiers acted appropriately and treated the Spanish priests that they encountered with respect and behaved well. It was fascinating to see Robert
The animal that I choose was Bottlenose Dolphin, but if you want it scientific name is considered as a Tursiops. Bottlenose dolphins are mammals so they are warm-blooded just like human. There are so many things to talk about this species like what they do during their environment and learn about their life cycle. It is great that I am learning about my favorite animal and it turns out that dolphin are never separated from their families. Bottlenose dolphins are very joyful that like kids would want to swim with them and play around.
The theme I chose for week 8 is balance. Balance, by definition is: “a condition in which different elements are equal or in the correct proportions”. (Merriam-Webster Dictionary). Since I started back at SNHU, I have had to learn a delicate balance of work, family and school. When my children were little, my life completely revolved around them. Having a special needs child, I was already juggling many obligations. I am that mom who volunteers for the PTA, cooks for bake sales, and drives carpools. As my three teenage children are getting older and becoming more independent, I find myself attending more activities instead of less. Knowing that the first one is headed to college in next year, I am savoring the last year of high school with her and when she leaves home, I will once again have to adjust my balance to fit everyone’s needs.
Finished writing one pretty spectacular cross-curriculum lesson that ties children's lit pieces with environmental conservation. I think I'm most proud of this lesson out of all the ones I've written up so far. I used The Lorax (best Seuss book ever), Operation Redwood and Girls Who Looked Under Rocks (thanks for the book recommendation Sass!)
The brain, the most complex organ that commands the body nervous system.Being present in all vertebrates and most invertebrates animals, but differing in characteristics between each other. The size and shape of the brain differs between species, humans being the largest when comparing it to body mass and following with the species of dolphins (delphinus) which brain is the most similar to ours. The biggest brain on earth its the whales (Orcinus) but when compared to its body mass is actually regular size. Both the dolphin and whale belong to the category “Cetaceans”, both mammals that have the need to breath air, have bone structure and even vestigial limbs which scientific believe that are remains of an ancient land walking ancestor. This
Dolphins are the marine mammals that have been impressing and intriguing us for thousands of years. Not only are these amazing creatures beautiful and intelligent, they also have been protecting, saving, and healing since the beginning of time. Dolphins are capable of compassion toward humans and have healing powers that may be the end of all suffering.
Some may ask, “What is a turning point in life?” A turning point is when life turns into a different direction. Turning points aren’t as easy as they sound. Most of the time, turning points are stressful times, but the result of the complex decision is what affects one’s thoughts and possibly the way he/she looks at his/her surroundings. The following will state how Karana (Island of the Blue Dolphins,) Rachel (Eleven,) and Moon Shadow (Dragonwings) faced life changing decisions which impacted their lives.
