Have you ever been on a vacation? To me a vacation is a time to be with friends or family. When I think of vacations, I think of packing, the flight or drive, and relaxation. Not only is it very exciting to go on a vacation, but you get closer to the people that go with you.
Throughout my life, I’ve wanted to be many things. An astronaut, a princess, a doctor, a lawyer, and at one point in my life the president. Now that I am older and much more mature. I still haven’t decided what I wanted to be. When I first started my high school career, I was terrified. I didn’t know what I wanted to be. So I decided to try new things. I’ve been with choir ever since I was in the sixth grade, so I thought I would give it shot, and try something new. I started to take drama and art. I soon found out, that I wasn’t great at either of those things. I had stage fright and I sucked at drawing. But, I didn’t give up. I stayed with choir, drama, art, and basketball. Now that I am a senior and ready to graduate, I have found out I
A few minutes before we landed at the airport, I looked at the screen in front of me and it showed ‘33°C’. It had been a year since I last experienced that kind of heat and I couldn’t bear it last time, so I wondered how I would cope with the heat this time. As the plane began to slow and turn into terminal, I could hear people around me start to get there belongings together so that they could get off the plane first. People returned the magazines to the rack on the back of the chair in front of them and I turned off my iPod and put it back in my bag. When I took my headphones out, I felt like I was back in the real world now as I had been concentrating on listening to music for hours. It seemed like time was going slower and slower
I kept comparing my home and surrounding with the home and surroundings of these people outside of the bus walking and working and having there everyday life. I looked over at my mom who was glued to the window, eyes wide that kept saying, “ Kids! Look over here! Did you see that?” She looked like she was totally fascinated with this different life style. My mom is the most exciting person to go on vacations with because she will research about it before we go and always be happy no matter what. Yet sometimes she gets very annoying with all of the little facts that no one really cares about. My step father on the other hand, just kept saying, “ This bus is taking fucking forever. I want a cigarette.” Then he must of felt happiness remembering that he was aloud to smoke anywhere and everywhere as he smiled and lit up his cigarette on the bus. He doesn’t seem to enjoy getting there as much as just being were we where supposed to be. My step dad is not a very happy man, he is a very negative person. I was waiting to see if everything that came out of his mouth this trip was something that was colorless and rejecting. My older sister next to me was hot and sweaty, she didn’t show much emotion as I don’t think she knew how she should act or feel at all. My younger sister was bouncing all around looking from window to window and asking lots and lots of
Calaveras Enterprise sports reporter Guy Dossi met up with Calaveras High School head track and field coach Doug Avrit Monday afternoon before practice. Dossi spoke with Avrit about the recent spring break, the Stanford Invitational and about two basketball players who are new to the team.
California, I have found it, according to their state motto. A land plentiful in beauty. The north houses massive fields, ideal for harvesting the fruit of the vine. The middle of the state contains a massive hub for immigrants, a bridge made of gold, and buildings widespread. Down south there is an odd combination of Hollywood stars that own ten million dollar houses, while at the same time, only 80 miles south lies an area with a large Hispanic influence.
“Brrrring” rang the alarm. When I woke up I had to take a shower. I woke up around 7:30am just before my grandma came to pick us up(my brother Chris, sister Megan, My mom, and I). We were going to Florida to go down to Disney. All of us are riding in two airplanes down to Disney, and this will be my first plane ride that I went on. My grandma picked us up at our house and the airport is an hour away from us. When we got to the airport it didn’t take long to get through the security to the wait room before we had to go on the airplane. We waited for about an hour for it to arrive and be al set to go.
We went to the beach one last time, but we also went to the pool and to the hot tub. While we were swimming, we were talking about how much fun we had while we were there. We also talked about all the amazing stuff we saw and how it was a very fun experience for all of us. We swam a little longer, then went back to our hotel room to take showers and get ready to leave. It was around 6 o’clock when we went to the check-in desk, only this time we were checking out. We weren’t supposed to check out until 6:30p.m., but we checked out at 6:00 because we were planning to drive around a little bit and go out to eat before we started our trip back to Georgia, so we were just driving around and going to eat. By 7:00p.m., we had started our trip back to our home in Georgia. While we were in the car, I quickly thanked my mom for letting us go to Florida and for paying for the

Approximately 33% or a third of all families in the United States will go on a family vacation this year. Family vacations when you break it down is entirely for the parents. Parents and their children are stressed during the school year, whether it's providing for the family or homework. Family vacations may be stress reducing or enhancing depending on where you go, who you’re going with, and why you’re going.
The only sound that filled my ears was my keyboard clicking as my fingers raced across it. I had been procrastinating from finishing this assignment all evening, but I knew I needed to get it done. The burning sunset was shining through the windows as I was finishing up. It was a peaceful silence, until I heard the soft whispers of my parents that ignited my sense of curiosity. I was concentrating hard; doing my best trying to make out the hushed words that were being spoken.
“A penny saved is a penny earned.” “A job worth doing is worth doing right.” We apply both of these sayings to the working world all of the time. Why not apply them to our vacationing world as well? Like most people, I look forward to a vacation, but planning it can become overwhelming if you’re not prepared. Planning a vacation should be fun and exciting. Vacationing is not always a priority to many families due to economic distress, but as little as a few hundred dollars you can plan a weekend getaway that’s inexpensive but a lot of fun!
After working all year long, sometimes sixty plus hours a week, the mind and body can become very worn down. You have to have a break or your work performance could suffer. The last part of winter or the first part of spring, is when
After you choose your destination the next thing you must do is reserve your airfare and hotel. This may be tough because there are many websites and travel agents that you can go through. I have found that it is cheaper and easier to go through Expedia.com. You can book your hotel and flight all together and pay one low price. I have also found that flying with Southwest Airlines is very cheap and they have many one way stops all across the country and for a cheap hotel that is very nice I recommend the Extended Stay America.
Spending quality time with family is one of my favorite childhood memories, whether it was spending time outdoors, playing ping pong, or watching a movie. My most meaningful family memory came from our vacation to Colorado back in 2004; yes, 2004. Although I don’t remember all of the events that transpired, I’m able to recall most of the memorable events that took place. It was a cool, misty morning in the Colorado Rocky Mountains, and I could distinctly hear the unmistakable elk calls that echoed through the mountains. The breeze gently scraped my face as I got into the car to begin the first day of our family vacation in Colorado. I could hear the car tires gently humming on the road during this cool, foggy, Colorado morning. As I looked past the lanky pine trees, glistening drops of dew formed on the tall grass, dancing with the wind. As we moved further down the road, I could see the tip of the sun barely begin to peek over the steep, snowy mountain peaks; however, the sun was soon covered by the misty Colorado clouds. This was it: our family vacation!
