Introduction:

I know that we are all very excited to embark on our partnership with The Society of New Americans. This relationship will help us fortify our mission to broaden access to education by donating bicycles to students who need them. Fittingly, SNA’s mission to increase access to education within the different cultural communities it serves goes hand in hand with our own. All around us is evidence that globalization has resulted in people from different cultures and backgrounds interacting more closely with one another (Author last name, first initial. We as a company will need to recognize and appreciate the role that culture plays in our lives and the lives of others in order make our partnership successful.

Recognizing how a person’s values and beliefs shape and influence how they communicate is an invaluable tool. Consequently, this knowledge will help to appropriately tailor our conversations and actions to a level where the other person is most comfortable. This awareness, understanding and sensitivity is known as cultural competence.
