What do you think we would do if someone from anther planet landed in the U.S and claimed it as his territory because he had discovered it? How would you feel about this?

Jupiter is the fifth planet from the Sun and is the largest planet in the solar system. It has a mass of more than twice the size of the rest of the planets and about eighty times more massive. To be put into perspective compared to our planet Earth, there would need to be eleven Earths lined up next to each other in order to stretch from one side of Jupiter to the other. We would also need about three hundred and seventeen Earths to equal the mass of Jupiter. Jupiter is mostly made up of hydrogen and helium and has four main moons- Lo, Europa, Ganymede and Callisto- as well as many other smaller moons. It is also the fastest moving planet, making a day less than ten hours and it takes approximately twelve Earth years. Jupiter also has the strongest magnetic field of all planets, the gargantuan.

There is a great amount of variation between the Terrestrial planets. These planets differ in size, atmosphere, and temperature. The temperatures vary greatly in the Terrestrial planets. Average temperatures range from 900° F on Venus to -50° F on Mars, which happens to have the coldest temperatures out of all the Terrestrial planets. These colder temperatures are a result of differences in distance, atmosphere, and magnetic field.

The first planet in our solar system, Mercury, is a very rough, jagged planet, complete with many craters and has many large rocks and dust. This dust is very fine, and small, like grains of sand. It has no atmosphere, so intense temperature fluctuations occur from day to night. The temperature ranges goes from 90K to 700K. However, due to much studying, we can concur that this planet is geologically dead, and hasn’t been ‘alive’ for an extended period of time. Also on this planet are no signs of rivers, clouds, storms, or really any type of weather. It can be seen to resemble the moon based off of certain aspects. In 1974, the Mariner 10 got within 10,000 km of Mercury, so we could have better, high-resolution pictures of that planet.

According to NASA’s research on aliens and life outside of Earth, the main idea of their research is to travel to distant planets in search for signs of life. NASA has done many projects and conducted a lot of research regarding this topic. One of the projects that they have done is send a rover named Curiosity to Mars. This rover was sent there to collect data, pictures, and any sign of life. Some of the things that the rover found were strange writing on rocks as well as tall rock structures that resembled Mayan sculptures. Other experiments that they have done are evaluating the atmosphere on other planets and comparing them to Earth. The point of this is to see if these certain planets are suitable for life or not. The buzz yesterday about a second Earth was answered when NASA announced the results its phoenix-like telescope Kepler , had found. The exoplanet that created so much excitement has a size and age comparable to Earth’s, and, critically, even exists in the goldilox zone of its Sun-like star, ensuring its neither freezing nor burning away any possibility of complex life.

In this research assignment I will be discussing and dissecting how planets, celestial bodies and orbits are created. These are the basis of how any solar system starts, and is a necessary part of our solar system. Many theories have been brought up on how they are created however the most accepted and proven method is considered the Accretion Theory1. This also helps prove how come the inner planets are more mountainous and rugged, and the outer planets are gas giants that are frigid, barren landscapes where no life could possibly exist. Exoplanets have been observed outside of our solar system and where first pictured in 2010 by the VLT (Very Large Telescope), the star Beta Pictoris b was observed having an orbiting body2, this shows that there are more solar systems out there than just us. It is important that we know how we came to be, not because it will help us, but because it fills humans craving to knowledge and understanding.

The important thing about outer planets is they are the farthest planets from the sun. The outer planets are Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. Outer planets orbits are belong the asteroid belt. They are heavy planets. But, most important thing about outer planets is they are the farthest planets from the sun.

The four outer planets are Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune, and Uranus, and these four planets are also called the “Gas Giants”. Uranus and Neptune have their own name “Ice Giants”. The reason that these two planets have that name is because they are the two coldest planets in the solar system and they are also called gas giants because they have no solid surface or solid core that we know.

The world renowned SETI institute (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) has identified over a thousand extraterrestrial planets, and scores of which are sprinkled with oceans and lazily drift around in the Goldilocks zone, or the hypothetical distance a planet must be from its star to harbor temperatures that consistently keep its surface water in a liquid form. But even amidst these encouraging similarities with Earth, these seemingly habitable planets are usually half the size of our home world. The smaller the size of a planet, the less stable the barometric pressure and temperatures tend to be because the atmosphere does not permit the same amount of room for pressure and temperature inconsistencies to disperse, as Earth does. The Solar System that I have chosen to create is a very large solar system. The star is a very gas oriented one that produces light just like our sun does. The density of my star happens to be somewhat light.There are two planets that have been made so that people that can live on. These two plants are the 3rd and 4th planets in my solar system.The first planet that is made for civilization is called planet grengion. It is the size of earth. The Terrestrial planets are planets that is composed mainly of silicate rocks or metals. The terrestrial planets are also the inner planets in the Solar System, they are closest to the sun. These planets would be Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars.

I would have to say that the atmospheres of Jovian planets and the atmospheres of terrestrial planets similar because they are all part of the same primordial solar nebula. Another similarity is that, they both move around the Sun at an angle orbit with changing eccentricities. Despite the fact, the Jovian and terrestrial planets differ in structure, they both have a solid core which in turn makes the cores of the terrestrial planets are larger than the cores of the Jovian planets.

The larger planets are toward the outside of the solar system because they have more mass than the other planets. Since they have more mass they have more force, and with more force the planets accelerate and move farther away from the sun. Also, the larger planets are gaseous planets which can only form further away from the sun. These planets can only form away from the sun because the temperature is cold enough for the planets to condense and become real planets. With the temperature being so cold the gaseous planets can grow larger unlike the inner planets. If the outer planets were too close to the sun the gases would expand and there would be no more gaseous planets.

Humans have longed to believe in extrasolar planets, as surely there have to be planets elsewhere in the universe. Claims of supposedly discovered extrasolar planets can be dated back to 1855 when Captain S. W. Jacobs from the Madras observatory, claimed that he had discovered a planet orbiting a binary system (Jacobs 1855), all the way up until 1991 when a team of astronomers announced then retracted the alleged discovery of an extrasolar planet around a pulsar star (Lyne and Bailes 1992). Planets are extremely hard to detect as they are a very faint light source and the light from its parent star is much brighter and essentially blocks out light from a planet (Winters 1996).
