Outline of Informative Speech
Topic: Korean pop
General purpose: To inform…
Specific purpose: To inform about Kpop.
Central idea: To inform my colleagues about Kpop. Kpop is more than ‘Oppa Gangnam Style’ that many have come to know. From music, it branched out to the other forms of media that becomes a part of pop culture and that of the new generation.
Attention-getter: Play ‘Run by Tiger JK ft. Baby-T & the Jungle. I wanted to play this for a different feel from the comedic Psy’s great works.
Credibility Material: Though I’m not Korean and I can tell why Kpop has attracted me and brought me to the larger world. I can tell you my exploration into the different music and culture…show more content… Recruited and/or picked individuals must have an overall talent, visual appeal, and charm. [cost of living + housing expenses + hiring choreographers, trainers, voice coaches, & language tutors = $2.5 > $5 million to care and train prospective idols]
a. The ‘Big 3’ is the leading entertainments that produce idol groups who ride on the popularity of the Hallyu Wave.
a.i. SM; “SM Town” – initially it was founder, Lee Sooman’s abbreviated name but now it stands for Star Museum
a.ii. YG; “YG Family” – founded by Yang Hyunsuk of Seo Taiji Boys; YG stands for his other name Yanggoon
a.iii. JYP; “JYP Nation” – founded by Park Jinyoung, a well-rounded artist, CEO
b. Many trainees come and go through the entertainment some wait as long as Big Bang’s GDragon and Taeyang’s 6 year wait till their debut and some took 1½ year before debut like that of 2ne1’s Sandara Park. Some are not even able to surface to the point it is nonexistent.
c. Each individual go through harsh training in vocals, choreography, and language and sometimes in variety, hosting and acting. They also must endure being away from family and live with others competing and working together for that same artistic dream. Sometimes, visuals are taken into consideration and if needed changes will be made.
