Advertising is an important component of the promotion of the marketing strategy, along with direct marketing, PR etc. The aim is to promote business and communicate the information to the intended audience to increase sales. Businesses that continue to advertise regardless of economic times have a competitive advantage over businesses that trim their ad budgets. Advertisements offer a lot of toys, games and food. We should remember that children simply want some products without being concerned about the quality of these goods. There are many advertising 's critics in our world. The critics say that "It manipulates people" but it is not true because advertising can only persuade, techniques like subliminal advertising are pure science fiction. People are free to choose. They cannot be forced into buying what they do not want or regard as poor value. (Yeshin,1993) There exists an opinion that advertising creates unnecessary wants and drags down media standards. One man 's wants are another man 's needs. All advertising does is to present choices. If a product is legal, decent and honest, people have a right to be informed about it. Advertising supports the media. What media people choose to watch, read or listen to is up to them. It is therefore logical to curb advertising which supports a socially undesirable habit such as smoking or alcohol, and to support advertising which will change people 's attitudes in a benign direction, as in the context of AIDS or not driving after drinking.
