All of the adversities that have been in our lives, the troubles and obstacles, have strengthened who we are and what we do to contribute to society. We may not realize when it happens, but all we know is that obstacles don’t stop us, instead we figure out how to work our way around it. I have had to travel through many arduous and challenging obstacles such as moving into the United Kingdom with my mother, Agnes Ann Murray, in 1877. When my brother heard the news, he collapsed on the floor, dejected, swollen with emotions and realization of fate. He leaned against my mom’s faded and parchment knee. “ Momma, why can’t you take me? Don’t you love me?” asked my brother “ I do love you. It’s just that Gilbert is younger than you and has a future …show more content…
The shelves of many counters were full of acid cans that pointed out the flaws in plastic contaminants in our canned goods, and implied that there's a retain in the aluminum free radicals hanging around after being heated and have contaminated the contents. Every twenty-two minutes, time began to evaporate and we were called to go to our safety areas by the church bells. It was a difficult time in war between the United States and UK during 1857 to 1879.
A UK soldier said, “ Get into your refuge area. Now!” He grabbed ahold of me and dragged me to a house. Branches and twigs were stuck in between my skin and bones. There was bruises of a multitude of hues, colors that normally should not be on someone’s skin. There was garish purple splotches, roughly the size of a fist, while others were more grayish, but I still looked just as bad. And they were all over me. It was horrible. It wasn't just the bruises. There was scars, too. Lines across my body, like someone or something had dug its nails into me, tearing my flesh. Someone had clawed away at me, the gashes told the whole story. It was horrible, I could hardly bear to look at myself. What has happened to me? Their was a sudden pressure and dead silence with everything moving in slow
Everyone has experienced adversity at one point in their life, whether it be a final exam or staying strong while you're going through a rough time. As for many, they assume that running from their problems is the easy way out when in fact running from your problems may seem easy at the time, but is a race that can never be won. Instead, we need to face our problems straight on, because the feeling of conquering a challenge gives us an unexplainable feeling of success. Through the character Mrs. Taylor, Author Hugh Garner depicts how facing hardships head on, leads to the feeling of accomplishment in his story, “A Trip For Mrs. Taylor”. Based on the story and a personal example it's evident that when an individual faces adversity, they strive to overcome challenges which leads to the rush of success.
The lessons we take from obstacles we encounter can be fundamental to later success. Recount a time when you faced a challenge, setback, or failure. How did it affect you, and what did you learn from the experience?
Times like the year 1943, were never talked about in my family. 1943 was 60 years before I was born, yet if you bring up that time, you would be hushed by your mother and told to be quiet. But why? Nobody in the family even knew why. Well, except my great grandfather, Joseph G. Koch. He lived it. Saw it. Smelled it. “The odor of burned flesh was strong,” he said. 2008 was the year when everything changed in the family. The code was cracked. The silence was broken. The secret was out. That was the year my twit-headed uncle put himself to good use, and asked my Great Grandfather about the importance of 1943 and what it meant to him. This was the first time anything was talked about. The hushes and whispers finally dissipated.
Life is about dealing with obstacles and learning how to hurdle over them, but also learning from them. Obstacles that we have no choice but to encounter sporadically. Things thrown at us without any warning. I've faced many obstacles in my life, but who hasn't? We are all damaged, scarred, and bruised. We all have stories, some long, some much too short. My story starts here.
Have you ever been scared to accomplish a challenge? I'm going to be talking about the time when I accomplished one of the challenges that I have always wanted to learn how to do. Some people that were involved or a whiteness of my accomplishment was my sister named Malina and my little cousin named Mazzy .
THE well one more obstacle i became over was to become good at wrestling and i actually started practicing and my coach believe me and one my last tournament i got second place in my tournament and they were all proud of me How i overcame my obstacles was i just kept doing what i needed to do to become successful and i didn't do it by myself i had many people to help me friends family and sometimes people that i don't know and i just never stopped when i was tired or was done with it but people showed me that never give up on your dreams and i just thought of what the prize at the end of the road would give me and it gave me stuff that will help me in life Well one obstacle was that i had to bring up some of my grades and if any of my friends
August 27th, Sometimes you just to need to know the facts, and at other times, you will need to put on your best act.
My life isn’t that appealing, I always imagined myself in better position that I am now, maybe living out of state somewhere with a boyfriend who loves me and a job that could sustain my college tuition. If you would have asked me at the age of eight what I wanted to be when I grew up, I would have said something on the line of “a Lawyer, Doctor, or even an Astronaut” but no one ever tells you how hard its going to be and how much debt you’ll be in at the age of twenty-five. From childhood to adulthood, everyone chooses a path, where they must overcome obstacles thrown at them. Obstacles in life make us who where are, they make us learn, and they predict how we will turn out. My obstacles consist of mental, physical, and social throughout my childhood, adolescence, and adulthood years which made me who I am today.
Going through your life without an obstacle or setback is unrealistic. You are bound to have them no matter what you do. Some obstacles are harder to get over than others and some are minor and easy to deal with. All of them though, are very important to your life and shape you into the person you are now or will become. Everyone deals and manages with them differently, but it’s how it affects you after that is important. Did you come away from it stronger or weaker? Did you learn a lesson or not? Each obstacle you overcome should hopefully make you a better person in some way, shape, or form. I have had many personally, but one that has impacted me the most had just recently taken place in my life.
As humans, we face various obstacles on a daily basis. Most of the time, they are relatively insignificant due to the frequency and value they have in our lives. However, all of us have and will continue to deal with significant obstacles that will greatly challenge us. I have discovered that having a supportive family, setting goals, and determination has helped me effectively overcome obstacles.
Many people face challenges and obstacles at a very young age and that can change who they are as they grow up. My grandma faced a very harsh and unfortunate childhood. Her father died when she was 17 and that changed her life and her future. It meant she was given many responsibilities since she was the eldest out of her siblings. She had to do many house chores such as cooking, washing the clothes and dishes and waking up early in the morning to get water from a nearby well every day! This placed a very large obstacle in her life at a very young age. She had to leave school at a very young age because of all the responsibilities she was given and had to overcome these obstacles and face them with great integrity. But due to these obstacles that she has overcome, it has changed who she is now. She struggled in life right from when she was just a little kid. But if she hadn’t overcome these obstacles she wouldn’t have been a very independent woman like she is today. If her father hadn’t died when she was young, she probably would have had a completely different
We all face obstacles in our lives. Sometimes the obstacles are physical and we must determine a path in which to best navigate past them. Occasionally, they are less visible, but no less real. From childhood we learn how to overcome obstacles, but as we age the obstacles become seemingly more difficult to navigate. How we choose to overcome our obstacles is dependent upon how we have found success in overcoming them throughout our lives. Resiliency is an enabling attitude which allows us to overcome those obstacles (Harrington, 2012).
Obstacles are all over life, they are big and small but we try to overcome them. Many Books topics are overcoming obstacles. Two stories that people overcome obstacle are So Far From The Bamboo Grove and A Work In Progress. So Far From The Bamboo Grove is an Autobiographical fiction book about a young Japanese girl named Yoko and the Danger of World War II the AUthor is Yoko Kawashima Watkins. A Work In Progress is a Book about a double amputee Aimee Mullins she wrote about her struggles of not having two legs. These two people had big obstacles and decides to overcome them instead of letting them take over.
I am a determined woman paying for my fresh start out of pocket by working full time and attending school to become a RN. Always being independent and working hard from a young age helping to support my single parent household. The obstacles I overcame by being low income, helping my father recoup after having several surgeries, and health problems, plus my health problems. Yet, I have kept my grades up, having nearly perfect attendance in work and school my whole life.
Obstacles, conflicts, and circumstances in life, all often seen as hindrances in one’s life. These things can often hurt people and their futures, but they can also lead to a change in person’s view or personality. Some obstacles and circumstances that shaped my life were my inability to talk to people, my mother’s sickness, and my dependency on other people.
