There are two very significant characters in this story. These two characters are, "Blake" and "Erika". They are very meaningful in this story because the story primarily focuses on what methods the central characters used to understand the problems they encounter in the story before achieving their goal. The author writes such a beautiful story with the point of view from each character. They each have different outlooks on what really happens behind the scene of a family living with someone that has cancer. For example in this quotes in states “I am the kid who played with matches. I used to steal from the shelf above the refrigerator, take them into my parents bathroom”(Picoult 111). In these lines in the book we’re introduced to Jesse, he’s very troubled in the family to the point where he separated himself in the attic above the garage and his parents are way to busy with Kate to even notice. Overall we mainly hear from the characters themselves making it relatively unique.
n the story on one of the very first pages Tim O’Brien was talking about how in your childhood everyone always thinks that they will amount to be a hero and maintain all of those qualities but all he felt was shame. Following this he was talking about he felt like a coward and how he didn’t think that he had the courage to go against the grain. From all of this I was thinking that he didn’t have enough guts to go to Canada because if he did, I don’t think that he would have regretted his decision. Tim O’Brien would have done not only what he wanted, but what he felt was right for him. Then later on in the story when Mr. O’Brien was expressing how horrible his job was at the meat packing plant was and how the pigs were going to the slaughter
I, Matthew Tohme, am writing this character reference letter in support of Kimberly McCarthy and to express my belief that she is more than adequately capable of raising her child in a way that is in his best interest. The practice of isolating a person or even one’s self is one of humanity’s greatest flaws. Isolation, or in other words alienation, has many classifications ranging from self alienation to social alienation. It is very crucial for humans to drift away from the use of alienation, due to the fact that alienation never comes to a positive end regarding of its classification. In fact, the majority of the time it ends in a destructive manner towards the alienated group as a result of the pressure and negatively fueled energy it gives off. In the novel Karma by Cathy Ostlere, the main character, Maya, is constantly alienated from her surrounding societies which causes Maya to

Moments in a person’s life, or decisions made by one’s self and people around them can impact the course of their future. Like author and life coach Tony Robbins once quoted “It is in your moments of decision that your destiny is shaped.” (BrainyQuotes.com 1). Janet McNaughton´s dystopian novel The Secret Under My Skin is an excellent portrayal of how moments in one’s life can lead them in their journey. The novel, shows how the protagonist of the novel, Blake Raintree, is changed drastically as she moves forward in her adolescent years. After having to endure an arduous childhood, Blake is indirectly given the opportunity to change her life, when she is chosen as a helper to the bioindicator. A bio-indicator is a respected career that

During high school, I did not have an abundance of friends. Although I had a joyful and uplifting mentality, the secular culture of public school deterred me from indulging in a vast array of friendships. I had a tough time trusting people who had the vocabulary of a sailor and refused to believe in God. However, towards the end of my senior year, I came across an admirable African American lady named Donneisha Floyd. Donneisha relates to me because she loves to work out, enjoys spending quality time with her friends, attends church, values her family, and most of all, she communicates with intentionality and reminds me of God’s plan for my future. She does this even during personal stress, pain, or heartache, which I find as an incredible
