Overuse injuries are chronic, repetitive injuries that accumulate over a period of time. They often occur when not enough time is given for the injured area to heal properly. Acute injuries, on the other hand, are injuries caused by a single identifiable event. High-speed or high-contact sports more often have acute injuries while sports with less contact usually have overuse injuries, such as running or swimming. Overuse injuries are particularly serious because since they occur with a gradual increase of symptoms, athletes will usually try to work through the pain, thinking that it isn’t that serious. In this case study, which was a study on the injuries of 16 teams in the Big Ten Athletic Conference, 571 injured athletes reported 1317 overuse

Football players who are subjected to multiple repetitive blows to the brain can experience serious long-term damage that can affect every aspect of their lives. These blows have a cumulative effect on the brain that can lead to symptomatic concussions, asymptomatic post-concussive abnormalities, and altered neurological and cognitive functioning. Furthermore, participating in tackle football prior to the age of 12 places an individual at an even greater risk for degenerative damage. Kevin Turner, an Ex-New England Patriot and Philadelphia Eagle, took these risks. He began his career as a tackle football player at the age of 5 and ended his career after playing in the NFL for only eight years. In 2010, he was diagnosed with debilitating ALS

But with prolific past injuries on players caused by malicious hits, such as Todd Bertuzzi’s infamous check on Steve Moore in ’04 or superstar Sidney Crosby’s year-long concussion in ’10-11, speculation has started to gather regarding the complete exertion of violence in the NHL. With over 50% of players getting injured each year and
Rational and Irrational Arguments from the Jurors Susie Morel Opening: Throughout the story the jurors came up with reasonable arguments for their belief of guilt, some rational and other irrational. Old Man argument: Juror number nine pointed out that, the old man made a testimony. The old man said that he was in bed, heard the boy scream “I’m gonna kill you”, ran to the door and saw the kid run downstairs, all within fifteen seconds. Yet how is all that possible for a man who carried two canes and had two strokes within the past two years.

He was born during the Golden Age. He became king a surprisingly young age. He achieved many things and had an important job. His death was and still is a mystery to most. It was said he wasn’t in his original tomb. But he was eventually found. King Tut became a Pharaoh at a really young age and he had many achievements but died at a relatively young age. In sports, especially professional sports injury is a great possibly, and a common and very serious injury is plaguing all sports. The concussion is that injury. And over the past few years the NHL and other leagues or trying to crack down on concussions; but those are only partial solutions. In hockey concussions, can come from anything and happen at any time. Thus, proposing a solution or a way to prevent them, is very difficult. As per a study that took place from 1997-2004, results published in 2011 by CTV, states “With averages ranging from 4.6 to 7.7 concussions per 100 NHL players per season, it’s likely that each of the 30 teams in the league will see at least one or two players miss time due to a concussion every year” (Tahirali). Thusly supporting how many players received concussions, even if this study is older. Many people are fighting to get the game changed to combat concussions, and just as many fight to not change the game; although they still do not want concussions.
