Overview of ERP; implemented in Omantel

ERP system integrates technology that ensures the operation are managed and used effectively by organization (Maguire et al., 2010). This system enables an organization can observe the different departmental functions in one database. It improves and shortens the business process, so restructure is essential for existing business.

The ERP was invented between the 1960s and 1990s. It gives the opportunity for supplier and manufacturing companies to keep updated records of customers. So they can hold sufficient inventory of products satisfying the customer demand (Polychronopoulos, 2005). (Source: (Polychronopoulos, 2005)

ERP integrates the key business and management functions that provide the real-time information for companies in the department of finance, human resources, production, supply Chain, etc. (Polychronopoulos, 2005).

Advantages of ERP
- ERP fulfills the organization’s desire to integrate departmental function in single system and will not necessary to manage systems separately.
- It helps to enhance the process that improves the entire supply chain process, and increases the transparency across the organization.
- It inspired the staff by providing real time information.
- It helps organization to manage resources effectively that could resulting reduce of operating cost. It is great beneficial for customer as well because of lowering the price.
