Rather you agree or disagree with having a speed limit; or even obeying the speed limit. It is our morally duty to accept the fact that lawmakers created speed limits in the citizens’ best interest to protect drivers for minor and fatal car accidents. Some citizens still question, if in fact the government claims to set speed limits are really for the public well-being, or simply to make a quick profit. Of course, one thing we can
not really surprise me, after I thought about it, that speeding too fast is the number
Virginia deems it a crime to drive over 80 miles per hour (mph), or 20 mph over the speed limit. A simple speeding ticket may be taken care of by paying a fine after you return home. Because reckless driving tickets are criminal, they are much more problematic. You can receive a Reckless Diving Speeding ticket even when you are not otherwise driving recklessly, such as weaving, or changing lanes. If the speeding criteria is met, the charge is reckless driving.
Insurance companies, police agencies, state transportation departments, and national safety organizations would have us believe that speed limits are a critical
As much as going almost three times faster than the highest legal speed limit in the United States sounds great, it is very difficult to actually go that fast. In order to go that fast the driver has to find a street that allows you to both not crash or get caught. Cops are, statistically, more
This defendant was charged with violating probation and failing to provide a new address to his parole officer. The crown was seeking a jail sentence for the 18-year-old defendant, but the defendant had already been incarcerated for 31 days. After discussing his story and his goals for after his release, the defendant was given a sentence of time served and released the same day with recommendations from the judge to receive further education.
Early plea in any cases in the UK and Wales is very significant. One it quick, it’s save time and money Wolf Report. The magistrate then commence sentencing hearing. He first consult the court assistance and in sentencing the magistrate has to consider the guide line sentencing council 2010. Because of this cases is an early plea case, the magistrate has to consider the gravity of the case and the circumstances of the accuser. In carrying out the sentencing the judge told the defendant that the offence he committed was enough to send him to prison, but because he pleaded guilty he will reduce his sentence to twenty months of not drinking any vehicles in the United Kingdom and Wales he should also be given two years’ probation period. In this time he should not committed any crime or be seen in any crime scene. He will be arrested and send to jail if he break his probation rules. Normally in this types of case the defendant should have been sentence to at least six months in prison but because of the early plea and the circumstance of the defendant that makes the magistrates to give him lesser sentences. Another very important thing in this cases was, this is the first time the accuser has

If you increase your speed from 40 mph to 60 mph, the amount of energy released during a car accident more than doubles, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Speeding, due to reduced reaction times, is the second most common cause of car accidents and is a double threat to your safety. Not only does speeding magnify your risk of a car accident occurring, but also the faster you go, the likelihood the crash is severe or fatal vastly increases. Paying attention and adhering to posted speed limits, especially in construction zones, is a good preventative measure for automobile
In order to reduce fuel consumption as a response to the Mid-East Oil Embargo in 1973, the federal government in the United States passed the National Maximum Speed Limit (NMSL) Law in 1974, which restricted the maximum permissible vehicle speed limit to 55 mph on all interstates roads. This dramatic reduction to 55 mph reduces road fatalities by 16.4% between 1973 and 1974 (Partyka, 1991), but it is widely disregarded by motorists. Subsequent research and legislation suggest the speed limit issue should be revisited and the debate on the effect of speed limit policy on operating speeds and safety has continued. Consequently, in April of 1987, Congress passed the Surface Transportation and Uniform Relocation Assistance Act (STURAA), which permitted states to increase speed limits from 55 to 60 or 65 mph on rural interstates highways. 40 states of the 47 states adopted the increased speed limit within a year; 38 states increased the speed limit to 65 mph in 1987, with two additional states following suit in 1988.
It seems that, officials have carefully designed what speed should be enforced in different areas that we drive. For example, as mention slower speeds are
Speed can be defined as moving quickly. In the United States of America we have laws on and off the road. These laws are created and implemented to protect all citizens. One of the main law boundaries on the road is a speed limit. Speed limit can be defined as the maximum speed at which a vehicle may legally travel on a particular stretch of road. Speeding is strictly enforced and can ultimately cost a suspension of a license. The amount a person averagely drives over the speed limit varies from person to person. I have conducted a random survey of the average miles per hour driven over the speed limit. I have then taken these surveys and compared the men against the women to see if there was a drastic conclusion.
Speeding is defined as the act or an instance of driving, especially a motor vehicle, faster than is allowed by law. Speeding is often one component of aggressive driving which is defined as committing a combination of moving traffic offenses so as to endanger other persons or property. There are strong direct relationships between the speed at which we drive and the risk of crash involvement and the injuries sustained if a crash results. The probability of injury and the severity of those injuries increases exponentially with vehicle speed. Even small increases in speeds result in a large increase in the forces experienced by the vehicle occupants or other road users. Put simply, the faster you drive, the harder you hit and the more severe the injuries you or someone else are likely to suffer. Traveling over the speed limit can be especially dangerous in bad weather conditions. Speeding was a factor in 53 percent of fatal crashes that occurred when there was snow or slush on
Demerit points defined as marks given against a person for failure or misconduct. In Malaysia, there are only two main categories of drivers which are ‘P’(new drivers who just received their licence) and Competent Driver Licenses (C.D.L.) or passed drivers. According to Kejara System (2014) or the demerit system adopted by the Malaysian Road Transport Department, the reasons of introducing the system are to raise awareness of traffic rules compliance among vehicle operators, to develop drivers who are disciplined, responsible and considerate on road and to assist government’s efforts in reducing road accidents (“Objective” section). All in all there are 18 important offenses involved on the road whereby demerit points were given. Demerit points given varies according to seriousness of the traffic offense. Some of the offenses are careless driving, street racing, failure to adhere to the traffic light, driving over speed limit, failure to stop at junction and overtaking at a double line. For careless driving eight demerit points were given. If the demerit points accumulate to certain extent there is possibility for suspension of driver’s licence. So, giving demerit points is another way of imposing heavy penalty to careless
The act of speeding to get somewhere is only a feel good measure for anyone who does it. By doing the math the time that you save by going 75 MPH on the highway as opposed to going the posted 70 MPH speed limit saves you a total of 46 seconds for every 10 miles you travel. That means that there is a total of three and a half minutes that is saved over the course of a five hour long trip. These staggeringly unrealizable numbers that are shown are evidence that speeding only increases your chances of causing a crash on the road and not decrease the time you spend on it. Also by the laws of physics a average sized car takes 20 meters to stop in dry conditions at a
