Barnum, had strong determination and a goal throughout his life to make people happy with his work and make them understand how some things worked. When Barnum was fifteen, his father died from illness, he left many unpaid bills, which left Barnum and the rest of his family to attempt to pay for them by themselves. The ended up going broke and he had to get many different jobs to attempt to pay off dept (16). This was one of his first life lessons. Another major person in his life was his grandfather, also known to the town as "Uncle Phin." He was the father to Barnum's mother. Phin was known as the town prankster. The biggest prank he pulled on Barnum would stick with him for most of his life and it would be his first introduction to the prank world. Phin gave Barnum a piece of island when he was two. He grew up hearing about this island and imagined it to be full of beautiful green trees, he always thought he would grow up to be rich living on that piece of land, called Ivy Island. Anthony was born on February 15, 1820 in Adams, Massachusetts and passed away March 13, 1906 due to pneumonia and heart failure. She had 8 brothers and sisters. When her family moved to Battenville, New York, she became homeschooled. She is most famous for her prominent role in the women’s suffrage movement pushing the 19th Amendment that gave women the right to vote, but she has numerous additional accomplishments including: founding the National Woman’s Suffrage Association (NWSA) in 1869, the International Council of Women in 1888, and the International Woman Suffrage Council in 1904, publishing “The Revolution”, wrote the Susan B. For some, the connection with a star may be forged at a very young age; that was the case with me. Since I can remember, I have looked up to Ernie Banks. The success story of Ernie Banks, which resulted in him going down in history as one of the best to ever play the game of baseball, was improbable. As a student, King excelled in his work, and became a high school graduate at the age of 15. He had attended Atlanta University Laboratory and Booker T. Washington in his high school years. In addition, he began to attend Morehouse College on September 20, 1944. As a matter of fact, his father and grandfather had also been there. As a result of King’s early completion of high school, he graduated College at the age of 19. Still, in these years, and his years at Crozier Theological Seminary, which he attended after college, he began to question how to exterminate or confine the problem of social status and race in the country and society. It was evident, that King had the education to become a good leader in mending this issue, but it wasn’t known he would actually be imperative to changing modern day society in terms of race and equal treatment.
Since the founding of the United States of America, many presidents have worked tirelessly in their posts to change our country for the better. Some have seen abounding success, while others have met a slow decline from glory. Of all of these generally noble and brave men, one especially has stood out; Franklin Delano Roosevelt, a remarkable idealist of a man and an amazing vehicle for change in America. While still a child, Uncle Fin had given P.T. a piece of land called Ivy Island, and was told that it was a profitable piece of land, one of the most valuable farms in the state. (Kunhardt 8) When he was finally able to see Ivy Island for himself, he found that there were no “mines of silver and gold” but instead only an excess of snakes and poison ivy existed on the swampy land. P.T. realized that he had been the laughing stock of the family for years. This event was meant to strip him of his boyhood dreams and turn him into a hard-boiled Yankee, but instead it not only hardened him to life, but also seemed to compel him to hoax others as well. Lyndon B. Johnson had only served one term, but he surprisingly accomplished a lot during his only term. Johnson had the ability to pass the acts that Kennedy created during his time in office. Some of these accomplishments include: Medicare and Medicaid, Education acts, and the Civil Rights acts. In order to continue his war on poverty, he established Medicare and Medicaid to aid poor families and the elderly. To further help families in need, as well as children, Johnson passed education acts to fix and create more public schools in poor areas.
