Being my first time visiting an art gallery, my husband insisted on visiting the Art Institute of Chicago during our stay in the city. I must say it was a hidden gem in the city of Chicago. The Art Institute of Chicago gives the public and tourists the opportunity to personally view artwork from across the world. It gave me the opportunity to visit a place that I’d never pictured myself spending my time at an art gallery, and this experience exposed me to incredible works of arts. The Art Institute of Chicago gave me the opportunity to learn in an a different setting than I am quite use too. Visiting the Art Institute of Chicago prior to taking this course, I didn’t understand what exactly I was looking for or at. I just simply looked at …show more content…

While his art appeared not that difficult to duplicate, it was unique and had a different style that made Pablo Picasso famous. Picasso was the first artist known to use the form of art “cubism.” In this quote he is referring to his different technique and style of painting and how he creates his work of arts. Many of the earlier artists of Picasso’s time, painted what they saw. They tried to convey emotions by just simply showing a scene. For example, a happy painting would be a man smiling. As for Pablo Picasso, he painted how he thought the objects appeared in his mind, not how they appeared in person. Essentially he is referring to how he disobeys the norm but simply does not care that he does. Picasso paints how he feels and what he visualizes in his head, not what most traditional artist do, and create. This is what I feel made Pablo Picasso famous, different, and a memorable artist of his
As Pablo Picasso once said, “Painting is a blind man’s profession. He paints not what he sees, but what he feels, what he tells himself about what he has seen.” Picasso’s passion for art started at a young age, getting his passion for art from his father. Pablo Picasso is known for the innovative techniques he introduced to the art world. Salvador Dali was born on May 11, 1904 in a small town called Figueres in Spain near the Pyrenees Mountains. This town was also near the French border in the principality of Catalonia. Dali was from a rich family and his parents built his first studio for him when he was only a young boy. He spent his summers in Cadaques where his studio was and he lived most of his adult life in an extraordinary villa near Port Lligat.
The painting shows five women naked with flat figures, disintegrated planes and faces, inspired by African masks. The compacted space the figures occupy appears to project forward in jagged shards; a fiercely pointed slice of melon in the still life of fruit at the bottom of the composition teeters on an impossibly upturned table top. In this painting, Picasso makes a radical departure from traditional European painting by adaptation of Primitivism and abandonment of perspective in goodwill of a level two-dimensional picture of a plane.
May 11th, 1904 Salvador Dali was born in Figueres, Spain. He was born a rather intelligent child, and his mother often indulged him in his arts. Dali spent most of his childhood in their family's summer home in the village of Cadaques. It is here where his parents built him his first studio. His love and talent for the arts led him to attend the San Fernando Academy of Fine Arts in Madrid. His recognition for his talent was in Barcelona in 1925, at his first one man show. A year later, he joined the surrealists. In the same year, he met Gala Eluard, which soon became Dali's lover, business manager and chief inspiration. After being a member of the surrealists, he soon became the leader. His most surrealist work being the "The Persistence of

One of the most important figures in modern art is Pablo Picasso. Not only was Pablo Picasso a genius in the field of abstract art, but he also experimented with sculpting and ceramics. Pablo Picasso has taken the world to many places with his unique style of work which is why I believe he is considered to be a genius of the 20th century.
To begin, let’s take a look to the Picasso history. Picasso was born in Malaga, Spain on October 15, 1881. He became an artist at a young age and converted in a master in the field of abstract art. One of the typical characteristics of his works was, that every work starts with sketches and ends with the creation of a master piece of paint. At first glance Braque is reported to have said “Listen, in spite of your explanations, your painting looks as if you wanted to make us eat tow or drink gasoline and spit fire” but after a further

This abstract painting is illustrated by the use of geometric forms and irregular looking masks. Picasso’s art has been an inspiration to cubism and abstract art throughout the century. Although most of his paintings may be asymmetrical and unknown to the human eye, he introduced people and opened up their imaginations to see the world of art in a whole new perspective. Picasso is illustrating that every person is born to be different and nobody truly looks the same as another person. Cubism was an early 20th century style that introduced to world to a different viewpoint of looking at the world. By Picasso’s introduction to cubism art, he has taught people to deal critically and logically with complex and subjective
Pablo Ruiz Picasso created many historic artifacts. The artist got his well known name (Picasso) after his mother. This man born on october 25th 1881, with two sisters Lola and Conchita. His sister Conchita at the age of 4 fatally died. When Pablo was 8 his interests in painting started to get him into actually painting. Since the artist had such talent he then at the age of 5 got drawing lessons in Malaga, and his father who is an art teacher supported that in every way. Artistic Prodigy, is what people would call him, because of his unique talent. He may have been the best at art and drawing but that didn’t disclude the fact that Picasso wasn’t a great student and would have rather been drawing in notebooks than learning anything in
Pablo Picasso is the co-founder of Cubism art and perhaps one of the most influential artists of the 20th century and I feel his use of simple geometric shapes, interlocking planes, and collage make his art highly sought after. Picasso as a 15 year old prodigy at the Royal Academy of Art in Barcelona took advanced classes learning how to incorporate his ideas and concepts into art, and after completing his degree moved to Southern France where his paintings became famous for their cutting edge style of prominent colors and real life depictions of Picasso himself. For example, during his Blue Period Picasso had volatile relationships with women, financial issues, and bouts with depression so he used inexpensive materials such as blue and green
The painting, Les Demoiselles d'Avignon, was painted by Picasso in the year 1907 and is the most famous example of cubism painting, as it is considered the first cubist piece of artwork. With this piece Picasso marked an extensive break from the traditional characteristics of painting, he abandoned all aspects of traditional art with this piece. He veered far from the representation and form often seen in traditional art at the time. He depicted five naked women prostitutes in a brothel, but the women were far from realistic. Picasso had drawn them nothing like the traditional paintings of women. Their bodies were made up of flat, splintered planes rather than rounded volumes, their eyes were drawn lopsided, and their faces were off putting. With this painting Picasso did things that no other artist had contemplated at the time. This visual violent piece evokes and liberates eroticism. This piece and its unbinding desire was unprecedented in art and in the culture of that
