Pacific Command’s Multinational Planning Augmentation team (MPAT) was formed in 2000 with the vision to form a “A cadre of multinational military planners from nations with interests in the Asia-Pacific region capable of rapidly augmenting a multinational force headquarters; established to plan and execute coalition operations in response to small scale contingencies”. This includes, humanitarian assistance, disaster relief, peace operations and military operations other than war. The cadre includes the participation of 31 nations within the region. This organization was formed to address planning and execution of multinational responses, where numerous nations are asked to work together.
