S: Page 132 is about a story of a family that lost their child due to the baby being premature.
E: I think this story taught a really great lesson about how important it is to have safe sex, if you're not planning on having a baby. I think it also showed the importance of staying away from drugs and alcohol while pregnant.
E: I went to school with a girl that had her baby prematurely. The baby ended up having to stay in the hospital for a while, but she is 3-years-old now and has no issues.

E: Reading this page made me think of all the pregnant woman that I have seen smoking. It drives me crazy when I think about all the woman that smoking even though they know that it could harm their child.

S: Page 134 is all about the embryonic period of pregnancy. The embryonic period lasts from week 3 to week 8, and it is a very important time because that is when the ectoderm, mesoderm, and endoderm are being formed. The ectoderm, mesoderm, and endoderm will later for more important oragans and body structures.
E: I think it is very important that mothers are taking care of their babies at this very important time because anything harmful that the mother could be doing at this time could cause the baby to not develop correctly.
E: I took a human biology class while I was getting my AA degree, and the professor explained to us how if the mother were to drink alcohol at this time, then the baby could develop an organ or body part incorrectly.

1. The medical care facility should have had an interpreter there at the childbirth. I think it was absolutely ridiculous for Sherry to have to go through natural childbirth and have the incident with the air not being on as well. The doctors and nurses should have also been properly trained and more compassionate.
There are many stereotypical views of foetal development. A pregnant woman is expected to have a healthy diet, exercise, take vitamin supplements, and have regular visits to the doctor to benefit herself and her baby. The NHS website also informs why mothers should eat healthily so this is a reason why mothers feel
The article I have chosen ‘Children of Smokers Face Higher Heart Risk’ talks about the risks smoking poses for the children. Children who grew up in smoke filled environments developed thicker artery walls than normal regular children. This Pregnant mothers who go on smoking during pregnancy are also putting their children’s health at risk.
The growth of a fetus is directly related to the nutrients and oxygen given by the mother. However, a mother’s diet in pregnancy alone has little effect on the baby’s birth size but does significantly impact the child’s life. The mother’s ability to nourish her baby is created during her own fetal life and is impacted by her nutrition in childhood. The fetal supply line is what affects the baby’s growth.
There a multiple prenatal influences that can affect the well being of infants. One of these influences would be poor nutrition. Poor nutrition is consuming foods that are unhealthy for the fetus as well as the mother, and can benefit in a series of birth defects and diseases. Mothers that are pregnant should maintain a healthy diet in order to give birth to a healthy child and to reduce the risk of pregnancy complications. When you're pregnant, the sum and sort of sustenance you eat is critical for the wellbeing and ordinary advancement of your baby. The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics prescribes that, by and large, pregnant ladies ought to expend 2,200 to 2,900 calories every day, expanding
The first thing that might come to your mind when reading it, is that the author tries to demoralize the way American parents have used to raise their kids. But in fact, the book is just a good comparison of how Amricans and French people tend to do things in regards to pregnancy and parenting.
[The educational Flyer is designed to inform young women regarding the health issues caused by smoking. Smoking not only damages overall health of women but it can also cause brain cancer. The effects of smoking on health can also be transferred to children and may result into complicacies in pregnancy]
On July 11, 2011, a 2 pound, tiny baby girl named Alyson was born. Nostalgia crawls into my thoughts as I remember how strange it felt to interact with such a medically fragile, yet unique child. I’ve been around infants before, but this was somewhat new to me. Alyson had a severe problem in her heart, which caused her growth and mind to be delayed. Slowly but surely, I watched Alyson as she grew out of her hospital room and into a home.
Healthy People 2020 wants to help mothers, infants and children achieve optimal preconception health, and interconception health. The main goal is reducing the infant mortality rate and preterm births. In order to achieve this, it is important that mothers are educated on how to take care of their body and their growing baby. “Preconception (before pregnancy) and interconception (between pregnancies) care provide an opportunity to identify existing health risks and to prevent health problems for women and their children. These problems include heart disease, diabetes, genetic conditions, sexually transmitted diseases and unhealthy weight” (Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, 2016).
decided to research How a Pregnant Woman's Choices Could Shape a Child's Health. When women find out that they are pregnant they filled with many different emotions. They think they have to change their whole life style to accompany their pregnant body. In some aspect you might have such as if you were an avid smoker and a daily drinker. I believe most of this is based on the women's decision what she wants to eat, continue her fitness routine or have her daily glass of wine. There are some women that don't care what they eat or what they drink while pregnant while there are other women are constantly watching what they eat and how much caffeine they intake.
Midwives see women at postnatal stages, which is also an opportunity to advise her pre-conceptually on her next pregnancy. Preconception is a series of interventions that enable a midwife to "identify and modify biomedical, behavioral and social risks to a woman’s health and future pregnancies. (Fraser and Cooper, 2009). Also it is important to confirm that each woman is fully aware of essential dietary requirements throughout pregnancy which will improve the health of the woman and her fetus: such as calcium rich food, a healthy balanced diet. Midwives could also suggest from personal experience, plans of action to promote healthy eating for the pregnant women and their families. One example is educating a pregnant woman on the importance of eating an iron rich
3rd Trimester, 31 weeks and 4 days, Baby Rohan Jameson Ramjit is growing healthy as ever. During these past 7 months, I have gained so much love for someone I have never met before. Being 24 years old and becoming a mother has changed my views on life. Learning so much about caring for a newborn has brought on the thought of bottle feeding or breast feeding and trying to figure out which one is safer for his health. Children enter this world helpless, trying to understand their new environment and learning their new touch. Infants depend on the caring individuals around them, especially their mothers, to help them in their first few days of life to figure out the new aspect of life. It is the obligation of the parents to take care and nurture their newborn. Parents are to deliver for their children both through emotional needs as well as survival needs.
Next, another cause to why tobacco is harmful, is because some mothers smoke during pregnancy. When mothers smoke while pregnant, it can cause life threatening issues for their child. A mother that smokes is much more likely to give birth to a child with defects. Congenital heart disease is one of the most popular effects (Banschbach 349). This is a problem because it is not only putting the mother’s life in danger, but it is not giving a baby the chance to be healthy and free from defects; some of these defects could be entirely prevented by not smoking. Not only does smoking cause heart defects, but it also can cause a lack of oxygen and nutrition while the baby is in the womb (Banschbach 349). Banschbach, found that many babies whose mothers smoke, are “born too early, and have a low birth weight, making it more likely the baby will become sick or die” (349). While these examples are the main effects, babies can also suffer from simpler physical effects such as, a cleft lip or palate. Lastly, one of the most harmful effects to a child due to smoking is the chance of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (Banschbach 349).
In the world today it is becoming more socially acceptable to smoke while pregnant. It has gone as far as some doctors telling their patients to continue to smoke while pregnant. Do mothers that decide to continue to smoke while pregnant really know all the negative short and long term effects it has on their baby? The fact that this is becoming more accepted in today’s world to smoke while pregnant is completely unacceptable. The list of negative effects that smoking while pregnant have on the baby range from premature labor to brain defects. Clinical studies have proven the negative short and long term effects that smoking while pregnant can have on a baby. Smoking while pregnant should be illegal, due to the amount of negative effects it has on the baby.
