My brother Broden has a turtle, his name is Sam. Sam is a painted turtle, a painted turtles are the most widespread native turtle of North America. Sam eats about 12 to 15 pieces of food twice a day. My brother has to feed him when he eats breakfast and when he eats supper. Sometimes Broden takes Sam out for a walk on our driveway, other times Broden puts Sam on the trampoline and lets him walk around on it. Broden got Sam from a pet store in Iowa City, and he is not very good at feeding him so often times I have to feed him instead. You can tell if a painted turtle is a boy or a girl because males have long tales that are wide at the base like Sams, and females tales are thin and short.

The turtles start out the day basking in the sun. from there they go out hunting for food. Ornate box turtles move and hunt
Two things I learned was from Turtle pond lab was what B.O.D means for the ponds water quality and how to calculate it. To answer question number two I chose to explain the B.O.D results. I didn´t know much about the Biochemical oxygen demand so, I had to do a little bit of research on it. I find out that a high B.O.D measurement is actually bad because it means that the water is polluted and that B.O.D is used to measure a number of dissolved oxygen that an organism needs to break down organic material in a water sample. During this lab, I also learned how to measure BOD. When we were at the pond my job was to take a sample of the water in a black bottle and then 5 days later we would measure the dissolved oxygen in the sample. To find the
The novel “The Back of the Turtle” by Thomas King is relevant to Canada in both present day and history. Through the setting, characters and theme the story is portrayed in a way that makes it sound like a calamitous prediction for the future of Canada’s treasured natural world. Riddled with corporate greed and environmental disaster, the story follows those involved and affected by the catastrophe that destroyed Samaritan Bay. His lifelike characters are tangled with labyrinthine emotions that add another layer of complexity to the story. In my opinion, the novel “The Back of the Turtle” by Thomas King is a great novel because of the depth of storytelling that the author can achieve, and deserves to be recognised as a “Great Canadian Novel”.

Turtles All the Way Down Essay John Green, popular young adult coming-of-age book author, frequently writes first-person stories from the perspective of a teenager. This means many of his books are about maturing and growing emotionally. Turtles all the way down is written from the perspective of a junior in high school with very intense, intrusive thoughts. Though she is never fully better, throughout the book she both grows able to function with limited actions caused by her thoughts but also functioning in a way where she caves to her thoughts. I believe that while Aza feels very aware that life is out of her control from the very start of the novel, the pivotal moment for Aza is her car accident.

Kemp Ridley Sea Turtles can be found in the Gulf of Mexico and on the shores of North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida. The lifecycle of a sea turtle is magnificent. Kemp Ridley Sea Turtles are the smallest of the sea turtle species. The female sea turtle return to where she was born and lays her eggs. A Kemp's Ridley lays about two to three nests of approximately one hundred eggs every season from April to July. The eggs have to incubate for fifty to sixty days until they hatch. They dig upward and crawl towards the ocean.
The loggerhead turtle (Caretta caretta) distributed in all of the world’s tropical and temperate oceans, consists of 10 subpopulations based on biological and geographical traits. In 2013, 6 of 10 subpopulations have been assessed to estimate global population trend based on 3-generation change (approximately 10-50 years) of nest number as proxies of abundance. The result revealed that 5 of 6 subpopulations show a positive trend (North West Atlantic, Mediterranian, South West Atlantic, South West Indian, and North Pasific) and only one (North West Indian) show opposite trend. However, since North West Indian subpopulation is the second largest nesting population and contributes to a third global population, thus altogether, global population

In a land far, far away, there were two turtles who were born. They were conjoined twins and shared the same body. The more dominant of the two, the one with the red spots arranged in a way that looked like Jensen Ackles’ face, is named Toby. The other, who is quite frail, has a dash of yellow on her nose is called Tabitha. They are both turtles of the Landslide Turtle Colony and were born on July 8th in 2015. Although, they were not believed to live long because Tabitha was not receiving as much food and nutrients as Toby, which has caused her to become weaker than she already is.
Will you give birth to your child at the exact same place you were born? While the answer varies, it is a definite YES for loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta). It is well known that sea turtles would swim thousands of miles in order reproduce at the same location where they began their life (Griffiths, 2015). However, the methods they use to find the precise location on sandy beach has been mystery for a long time.
"A picture can paint a thousand words." I found the one picture in my mind that does paint a thousand words and more. It was a couple of weeks ago when I saw this picture in the writing center; the writing center is part of State College. The beautiful colors caught my eye. I was so enchanted by the painting, I lost the group I was with. When I heard about the observation essay, where we have to write about a person or thing in the city that catches your eye. I knew right away that I wanted to write about the painting. I don’t know why, but I felt that the painting was describing the way I felt at that moment.
