I am from Coral Springs, Florida. I am just assuming that you do not know where Coral Springs is because it is not a main, huge, famous city and you probably are not familiar with the South Florida area. Coral Springs is about 25 minutes in a car to Fort Lauderdale, and is about 35 minutes in a car to Miami, perhaps more famous and familiar cities that you may know. I have lived in the same house in Coral Springs ever since I moved there from Colorado when I was only a few months old. I love where I live and I love having my friends and family nearby, but I wanted a change.

Every summer I look forward to sitting on a large, warm cabana under the Texas sun. My feet buried in the sand as I welcome the lukewarm waves against my legs. Being a beach bum in South Padre Island, Texas is a great way to bring on the summer. This island isn’t short of attractions, from the beautiful ocean, to tasty restaurants, to fireworks over the ocean you will never get bored on your vacation! Last summer I was joined by a few of my closest friends. We made so many memories as we all went parasailing for the first time. Our relationship grew stronger as we were able to share a new experience together. Spending a few weeks in South Padre Island with family and close friends is a great way to make memories that will last a lifetime.

Have you ever been on a vacation? To me a vacation is a time to be with friends or family. When I think of vacations, I think of packing, the flight or drive, and relaxation. Not only is it very exciting to go on a vacation, but you get closer to the people that go with you.

I remember visiting the community center near my home every Saturday to find some new craft to work on. I have always enjoyed the hands-on experience of DIY projects -- from sewing clothes for my stuffed animals to folding origami animals to creating a picture frame. I remember reluctantly leaving at the closing time only to return the next Saturday to work on something for another four hours. This stopped when I entered high school and volunteering occupied my weekends. However, my love of arts and crafts never diminished.
