Despite all the exotic and remote wilderness, Brazil wouldn't be one of the world's most popular ecotourism destinations if there weren't safe means to travel through the largest tropical jungle - the Amazon - and floodplain - Pantanal - in the world. It's perfectly natural to have safety concerns when you're about to visit a region with an infinitude of potentially dangerous wild animals and other natural peculiarities, but the dangers aren't so obvious as one might think. And when it comes to the so often mentioned urban crime in Brazil, this is a non-issue for ecotourists. It is very safe to experience ecotourism in Pantanal. Are there any precautions to take? Even though Pantanal is one of the world's most biologically diverse regions, and you may have a glimpse of jaguars, anacondas, piranhas or caimans, you will be very safe under the guard of local guides and drivers who are experts at traveling through the wilderness without jeopardizing the delicate ecosystem.
