Parenthood When I search to find a new television series or movie I often search for series that have similarities. First, I always look for passion. I want to be swept off my feet as if I was in the show. Next, I enjoy watching a show that I can relate to from my own experiences. Finally, I love the drama. I want a series to have me so hooked that I cry for my characters. For instance, I cannot and probably will not ever be able to make it through The Notebook without falling in love, comparing my relationship, or breaking into tears at the end. These choices are what led me to watch the television series Parenthood. Parenthood is a drama-comedy series. The series includes a large family and the challenges they face. They had characters that were hard workers, slackers, lovers, children, adults, friends, and enemies. You could watch this series with multiple people in your house and find similarities. However, one character’s acting stood out among the others. Max Braverman (Max Burkholder) plays a teenage boy living with high functioning Asperger. He takes you along for the ride with the daily challenges of this disorder. It should have been nominated for an Oscar, because it was just as good as Jennifer Lawrence’s acting in Silver Linings Playbook. Parenthood has many plot twists, but they always keep you wanting more. Families are not perfect and this series demonstrates the difficulties many families face. This show is happy, sad, mad, and everything in between. You experience the full range of emotion. When Julia Braverman-Graham (Erika Christensen) and Joel Graham (Sam Jaeger) break up you feel your heart break as if you were watching when Dr. Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) loses her husband Derek Sherperd (Patrick Dempsey) in the series Grey’s
