The time was November 13th, 2015 and it was typical fall evening in Paris. On the streets, people shopped and families ate their dinner in outdoor restaurants. There was no warning to the disaster that would strike later in the evening. Suddenly, a car screeched into the street and gunshots rang through the air. There were screams and people ran for cover as the shooting continued. Within an hour, thirty nine people were killed and many more injured. The Paris Attacks had begun. A major change that could be made in an attempt to advance security is the removal of Schengen’ Border-Free zone. The Schengen’s Border-Free zone is the agreement of twenty six European countries to abolish border checks between countries. This agreement boosts integration and economic prosperity and makes it easier for goods to travel from one area to another. Without the border-free zone, business would go down and the European Union would be damaged. Also, the cost of maintaining the border control, which includes paying for patrolling parties, surveillance systems and check posts, would hurt Europe financially. Other forms of security that were emplaced after the Paris Attacks were bag searches at bars and shopping centers, increased ID checks, border checks, and more security in markets, train stations, schools, hospitals, and concert halls. Because of the increasing security reinforcements in France and in other countries in Europe, citizens feel as if their freedom is being taken away and that they are living under “lock and key”. Additionally, most of northern france was shut down and surrounding countries tightened their borders, leading to less immigration from Syria and Iraq. All parks, concerts, and other tourist sites were closed and the United States and the United Kingdom sent travel warnings to Paris. This led to less traveling and immigration to France as well as to other countries. Changes of policies to secure safety could be seen around the world. In the United States, some Republican senators refused having Syrian Refugees in their states because one of the ISIS attackers was a
In recent news, there has been a string of attacks all over the world; each attack has been related to terrorism. A passenger boarded a train traveling from Amsterdam to Paris, armed with a box cutter, a pistol and an AK-47 with intent to harm innocent people. Four passengers on the train quickly subdued the terrorist before anyone could be harmed. In November, Paris, France was struck with terror when three armed men set off a string of attacks throughout the city, to include a bomb and active shootings. This attack left nearly 127 people killed and wounded. Most recently, in San Bernadino, California a man and woman left from a holiday party and returned with assault rifles. The officials attributed their act to terrorism, where the
As all have known Paris was attacked by a bombing. Which has caused many damages on the area. Although the damage has been done to this wonderful place the president Francois Hollande has taken charge against it and has taken it fairly quickly. And it might cause more damage than before to Paris and it’s people. Also it might cause damage to the other country or state and those people. He has taken charge and he's not looking back.
In our present times national security became a priority. According to Tricia Escobedo, the last year’s terrorist attack in Paris on the night of November 13th left 129 people dead and hundreds wounded. The perpetrators were a mix of French nationals, and Syrian refugees that migrate to Europe due to the current open door policy for asylum seekers (1). We have a problem because our southern border is an open door for foreign terrorist to enter our country, due to the fact that the many people cross illegally. According to Stephen Dinan, nearly 800,000 people arrived in the past two years (1). I am veteran of the United States Army that deployed many times to Afghanistan, I lived in what we call forward operating bases, this forward operating bases had a secure perimeter due to the presence of physical barrier in this case a wall, in order to protect the people inside, and this solution work because it keep any threats away. We had 100 percent control of the people entering the Forward Operating Base, this kind of control reduced drastically any possibility that a foreign terrorist could enter inside the base, and cause severe casualties between the civilian and military personnel.
On the evening of Friday, 13 November 2015, a massacre including of public mass shootings and suicide bombings occurred in the capital of France, Paris. The attackers killed 130 people and wounded 368 serious injuries. Just 10 months previous, on January 7, 2015 two terrorists attacked Charlie Hebdo, an office of a Parisian satirical magazine. They killed eleven and wounded eleven people. During the attacks in Paris, no one victim was armed. They didn’t have any chance to defense for themselves. When police arrived, it was too late to save the innocents. The world today is full of dangerous with terrorism, criminals, mass shootings, and so forth. We 're not safe from anything.
On September 11, 2001, nineteen militants associated with the Islamic extremist group Al-Qaeda hijacked four airliners and carried out suicide attacks in the United States. Two planes were flown into the towers of the World Trade Centre in New York City. A third plane hit the Pentagon just outside Washington D.C., and the fourth plane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania. Often referred to as 9/11, the attack resulted in extensive death and destruction. This triggered the major U.S. initiatives to combat terrorism and defining the presidency of George W. Bush. Over three thousand people were killed during the attacks in New York City and Washington D.C., including more than four hundred
France in the recent years has been in the view and target area for the uprising ISIS. This terrorist group has targeted both the United States as well as France. The attacks here in the United States were not as grave as 9/11 or Oklahoma, but were still acts of terrorism that took the lives of Americans. The attacks were by gunfire and bombs that did not kill a great amount of people, the attack in pulse was the greatest mass shooting at the time, which is still a terroristic event, that was soon surpassed by the horrible Las Vegas shooting that left over 50 dead at a country music
September 11th, 2001 was one of the most tragic days in American history. On this day, an Islamic group called al-Qaeda launched numerous attacks on the United States and killed thousands of innocent americans. Although the cause of it all was al-Qaeda, people believe that it was in fact the U.S. government that attacked its own nation. However, evidence from live footage of the attacks show that their claims are indeed false.
Some argue that the 9/11 attacks hastened the airline industry to make changes that would have come sooner or later because many carriers were already in financial trouble. The airlines were forced to make cuts in their cost structure and renegotiate labor expenses due to a decline in passenger demand, which realistically was needed regardless of the 9/11 attacks (Logan).
On September 11, 2001, al-Qaeda, a terrorist group, hijacked four airplanes, bringing down the World Trade Center and nearly destroying the Pentagon. The attacks killed 2,977 people and started a global war on terrorism (9/11 Attacks). Since Afghanistan was training terrorist groups, our military sent soldiers over to the Middle East to help slow down the assaults on our country. The attacks on the World Trade Center affected the lives of many Americans and changed the way people see the world today, especially my cousin, Master at Arms (MAA), Robert Dempewolf.
The attack on 9/11 was one of the most deadly attacks the United States has ever faced. After the wake of the attack the government used every resource they could to keep this country safe. International intelligence was one of them. This solution worked for a while and the FBI was able to see how terrorists were communicating and any plans they had. However, as time has past international intelligence has gotten wrong information and terrorists are finding new ways to communicate. The effectiveness of this program is now being questioned as to whether it will help the fight against terrorism.
Broadcasted fear and alarming unorganized responses to the 9/11 terrorist attacks lead US policy makers to create the most popular policy affecting homeland security and similar federal agencies. The Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism (USA Patriot Act) was enacted by President George W. Bush in 2001. In response to the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center, the Patriot Act was promptly prepared in just six weeks after the attacks. (McCarthy, 2002) Underlying weaknesses of federal agencies was expected to be extinguished by the USA Patriot Act. Federal agencies were granted greater authority in tracking and intercepting communications, as well as actively
On September 11th, 2001 the attacks has affected the world in a tremendous way, including the thousands of people that died and were injured. The graphic videos of people jumping out of the buildings, the grey dust and blood covered people seen running away in terror, the attack on the pentagon and Pennsylvania and the final seconds of the three world trade Centre buildings will forever remain etched in the minds of those that saw the events live and have seen video footage of it.
December 2, 2015, there were 14 people killed and 21 injured from Islamic extremists. This attack took place in San Bernardino, California, and was put in place by Syed Farook and Tashfeen Malik. The mass shooting took place at a work training event, once the shooting was over the couple fled the scene. However, the police pursued their vehicle and killed both perpetrators four hours later. They both were not affiliated with any terrorist organization, but were inspired by terrorist groups and were “homegrown” (Serrano & Bennett) Islamic extremists. As the terrorist attacks are becoming more frequent and violent, the need for a solution is increasing to handle the war on terrorism.
November 13, 2015 is an indispensable day for millions of people to remember. Screaming’s of terror were heard on the streets of Paris, tears dripping down one’s cheek and blood dripping from bodies continuously. Many families were left with deep sorrow over the deliberate killings in Paris. Innocent lives were taken away, leaving the world in shock.
For example, terrorists attacks were made in Paris, France in 2015. On Friday November 13, 2015 at 3:20 p.m, guns went off, bombs exploded, and many people killed and wounded. Gunmen and suicide bombers all had hit a concert hall, a major stadium, and restaurants and bars almost all at the same time. It had left 130 people dead, and hundreds wounded, with more than 100 in critical condition. The President of France described this attack as an “act of war” against the Islamic State. Three teams were believed to be behind these attacks. Instantly after the attacks, French police carried out hundreds of raids across the country in search of the suspects. This tragedy hurt, and touched every single heart in the world. The U.S. sent troops over for support, and to help Paris out. Carried throughout all social media, were messages and prayers going towards Paris (Paris Attacks;BBC News, 2015).
