Writing is examined in the first chapter of “Writing about Writing”, a textbook by Elizabeth Wardle and Doug Downs. Not only does it examine articulate writing, but specifically the threshold Concepts of writing: “ideas that change the way you think, write, and understand a subject,” (Wardle, Downs 2011). Terms are used to educate readers, these terms are essential for the writer to better understand how to write, and for the reader to better understand composition. Three terms seem to do this; construct, contingency, and rhetoric.
AO1 = respond to texts critically and imaginatively; select and evaluate relevant textual detail to illustrate and support interpretations
The narrative convention of style or mood is a major component which represents the theme
“Focuses on the aesthetic aspects of the text (e.g., plot, character development, setting, length and complexity of sentences, word choice, word order, figures of speech, and illustrations)” (Botelho & Rudman, 2009, pg. 25).
When deciding whether form ‘enables authors to communicate meaning more effectively’ it is important to first discover what the author is trying to express through their literature. Whilst motifs and themes may be apparent to an audience, upon reading a novel or watching a play. However, is not necessarily truthful to the authors intended meaning if the meaning itself is within within symbolism or dialogue.
Use comprehension strategies to build literal and inferred meaning and begin to evaluate texts by drawing on a growing knowledge of context, text structures and language features
Responses (interact with the text through analysis, predictions, evaluation, and connections, but don’t just summarize)
In the process of writing, regardless of the form it takes, thesis or narrative for example, the purpose of the piece has several lenses that shape how the reader perceives the material. Of the less important lenses that shape the piece, mood, word choice, and rhetoric are only a few. These elements of the work, while minimal in a relative sense, accomplish the same as other, more important components, they influence how the reader perceives the material, how it is understood. If one is to effectively convey the message of the piece, one must first look at how the any reader perceives any text. This idea of how the reader perceives is a culmination of all the devices employed by the author. The idea is for the author to craft an aggregate

In Charles Rearick’s book, Paris Dreams, Paris Memories, he describes the various ways in which Paris is “represented” through various images he identifies as the City of Light, Old Paris, the Capital of Pleasures, and Paname. Rearick further writes how and why these images of Paris came of importance and how they shaped the geographical layout of the city we know today. All of these images together have likewise produced the city of Paris while also providing the framework of Parisian events and experiences.
There are different forms of literature which can include essays, poems, novels, reports and more. The one thing all forms of literature have in common is that they all have meaning, purpose and form, but how it is expressed is all different, the question is how. Most of the times authors have a reason to convey such messages, and how the messages are delivered is up to the author as well. The author uses the form, it’s aesthetics to send the readers an image; what kind of literature it is. The authors also send the readers a blatant message, the message is sent through the text of the literature. Through the text on the literature the author portrays purpose, and with the form of the
In his 1832 novel Notre-Dame of Paris, Victor Hugo interlaces discussions of medieval architecture with a story set among the people of medieval Paris. In his story, he introduces us to a number of grotesque and morally questionable characters, whose actions and appearances often bridge the line between empathetic and unpleasant. For each of these main characters, Hugo establishes a location for his readers to associate with them, and thus compares his characters to the architecture of the city, many of whose buildings and locations are mixtures of dissimilar architectural styles or are crooked and uneven. The architecture of these locations, as well as the symbolism of the architectural styles, provides us with both an emotional and a literal backdrop to the characters and their behaviors. Through these associations, Hugo uses the
If I could travel anywhere in the world, I would like to travel to Paris the capital of France. Paris is said to be one of the best cities in the world. Although it is urban, people there still live romantic and slow-paced lives. I think that such a place is hard to extremely rare. Also, Paris is famous for its politics, fashion, arts and science. I really want to try out the food in Paris especially the cheese there. I have also read a lot about the attractions in Paris such as the Louver, the Eiffel Tower and the Notre -dame de Paris. I yearn to see for myself these great works of art. Paris is also a shopping heaven; there are different famous brands and luxury brands in different department stores. Parisians understand how to enjoy their life and how to find happiness from ordinary things. They also understand how to transform their ideals about life into art, make them into music or other artistic forms. In a word, I really love Paris.
