Introduction

Group organization and planning is a very complex and multifaceted problem that we all face. Coordinating numerous individuals, each with their own sets of preferences, objections, and requirements is not a simple task. A domain in which this problem clearly presents itself is in the theme park/amusement park industry. Parks like Universal Studios and Disney World attract more and more guests every year which obviously creates longer and longer waiting times for attractions. This can create instances where if not properly planned for, groups or families may not to be able to experience everything in a park that they pay for. Recently, parks have started to offer companion apps that guests can load onto their smart phones to access ride wait times, park maps, and even dining reservations. This is only a partial solution as it only presents the information to the user, it does not stitch it all together to be as effective for the user. Thus, Park Planner is a decision support system to be utilized that incorporates optimal decision making strategies, along with real world information, and group dynamics to facilitate the most efficient and enjoyable time at an amusement park.
