Parks and recreation, informally known as Parks and Rec, was a comedy that aired on NBC from 2009 until 2015. It held a very strong cast with good recognizable actors and actress like, Amy Poehler, Rashida Jones, Nick Offerman, Chris Pratt, and Rob Lowe. The show was a great success bringing in many golden globe and Emmy nominations for prime-time comedy. Parks and Recreation is a good comedy because it has great characters, witty scripts, and the fact that they face everyday problems.

A comedy should have great scripts because you must have good jokes to keep your audience engaged. Andy Dwire is the guy constantly making people laugh with his humor. One of the things that makes Andy Dwire so comical is his mental gap he always has. He is a man with a lower IQ that makes everyone love him. Comedies must have real world problems so the audience can relate to the characters and compare it to their life. Parks and Recreation is constantly putting its characters in real world situations. Leslie Knope and her husband Ben Wyatt are always facing real world problems. After Leslie marries Ben Wyatt they start trying to have children. In the episode “Triple Threat” they finally are pregnant but are astonished when they hear it is triplets. As soon as this discovery is brought to their attention Ben he then rushes to do financial reports to discover they will not ever be able to afford it on his current income. Ben and Leslie both then rush to find new jobs with a bigger income. Ben eventually finds a job in Washington D.C. being a campaign manager for a congress man.
