The acquisition of the Parthenon marbles by the British museum has been a controversial topic for many years. The Parthenon marbles (commonly known as the ‘Elgin marbles’) concerns the set of stone sculptures and archaeological features which were procured by Lord Elgin and imparted to the British museum in 1816. Although the British endorse the legality of the subtraction of the marbles, many argue that the situation was ambiguous.
