W alther Schäffer, turning his attention away from the other members of Dritte Zug, took a glance of the time being kept on a pocket watch he happened to have on his person. The time on the pocket watch read 11:55PM, as suggested by the big and little hands of the clock being in the 11:45 position. Moreover, it had only been a few hours prior to their arrival at the Dweller city of Venice. Putting it aside, he observed the others in his group. Across the room, he saw Dietrich Gerber lying on a clean hospital bed, his condition having been stabilized several minutes earlier. Not wanting to waste any time, Giuseppe remained at the corner of the doorway. He occasionally popped out to keep the She-Wolf pinned down, who was taking cover from behind an overturned table. At the same time, Lester and Walther went off to find a way to flank the sniper. Heading inside the room adjacent the one where the lone Dweller Partisan sniper was in, Walther and Lester discovered a part of the wall blown open. The destroyed part of the wall was large enough to allow someone standing upright to walk past it. Much to their amazement, they also saw She-Wolf taking cover behind the overturned table, making a few shots at Giuseppe in retaliation. Each member of Dritte Zug, carefully and cautiously, made their way inside. In due time, once they were all inside, they all split up into two separate teams and began searching the entire building. Attention was especially given in regards to who was still alive, and who was killed due to enemy action. Much to their shock and dismay, the members of the RGA’s 240th Feldjäger Abteilung were all killed from what appeared to have been a major firefight. Upon gathering all of their findings, everyone in Walther’s group then assembled in the garage of the motor pool, where there was also the presence of two parked ambulances built on the chassis of pickup trucks and a few dead Ryanite bodies. “So, not one of them survived, is that correct?” an inquisitive Walther Schäffer asked all of his cohorts. No surprise, the others came back to tell him about the lack of any survivors. “Well, that’s a shame,” he admitted, “And we came all this way, thinking that we might be able to save them in time.” Brünnhilde told him in a flat tone, “It was not they were going to last long, Walther. If anything, this position is not that far from the only entranceway that leads to St. Denis
