At the start of the semester I did not like the pass class, it made me feel as though I was less than other students and that I was unable to succeed. As I attended the class regularly I realized that it is not an embarrassment but, it helps you get one step close to being a college graduate. Once the pass class got going and we all started to get to know one another I became more confident in myself. We started to share our story and the reasons why we were made to enroll in this class. I found that most of our stories are similar if not the same. I also realized that there are others struggling with some of the same subjects I’ve struggle or I’m struggling with now. I’ve always thought I was the only one.

Although I haven’t tried it I’m going to and see if it works. I’m the type of person where if I’m being watched I will do my best work and with the pass class we have an instructor watching our grades and attendance at all time and that helps for me. Sometimes I do not want to go to class everyday but I do because I know too many absences with get me reported. Just like earning low grades will. Over all this half semester I’ve enjoy the PASS class. I would change the time to an hour and twenty-minute class with fifty minutes of studying and getting help in the tutoring center and thirty minutes of lecture and actual work. I feel like for the thirty minute we do go to the tutoring center it gives you just enough time to skim or look at notes before a quiz but if you’re like me I need to skim thoroughly for understanding that the only thing I would change. PASS has effected my academics greatly and although I know within myself I can do much better I plan to finish out the semester with good standing in all of my
I never would have thought that one poor grade would change how I view academics. Nevertheless, when I receive an eighty percent, that is unacceptable for me. Before I failed that test, an eighty percent was sufficient for me. I learned that not everything in life will come easily. Even though one might not understand that one grade matters, but it does impact your overall
College can be very helpful in more ways than just giving people more head knowledge. I do not disagree that people will benefit from learning a trade skill. In my personal opinion I think we should teach the basics of some trade skills in high school, and let the student decide if a college education is something they want to pursue. After coming to a college I do see that people should come even if it is for two years. The debt is always in issue when coming to school, but there are plans you can make to pay them off. Coming to college can do a lot to help anyone, but for the students that are coming right out of high school, college can be a safe place for them to experience the real world. In some cases it can give them some much needed
Since I was little I dreamed of going to college and become a nurse. Education is important to me because none of my family members had gone to college, and if I go it will be a family accomplishment and but also a personal one whereas helping people in need is one of the things I like the most. Besides, as a first generation going to college I will be an example to my younger siblings. I will be able to show them that if we work hard and commit to our dreams, we will accomplish them. I am planning to enroll full time in college and join clubs aligned with my degree. When I came to the United States the unknown of the English language was a challenge I had to overcome. However, it did not stop me to pursue my education, I started to create
College is a chance to further the education of most teens and adults in the modern world. Many people have the choice to enter college after high school or go later in their lives. Both of my parents made separate choices but both turned out to be very successful in their lives. College is a really tough decisions that could be beneficial in most cases because you do happen to get paid more money with a college degree. My mom chose to go to high school to continue her education in the medical field and it eventually paid off, getting out of student loans and having a lot of money to get the needs and wants of my family. My father chose to use his skills and the trades he learned to work and make money to support him and my mom, and he still continues to work using the trades he learned growing up. Both had different opinions on college and made their decisions according to the way they have been raised and their environment. Everyone’s environment and ideas is one of the largest influences in going to college because they shape every decision that you have ever made and really effect your future. My decision had been made to go to college to make my future much better
Ever since I was young, I had always thought anyone could go to college, that college was the next step after high school. Although this is technically true, there are people that cannot go to college like other students. Whether it is because of money or conflicts within the family, there are some people that never got the chance to have a higher level of education.
Should I go to college? You might have asked yourself this question before, and maybe you were right now. Going to college begins a new chapter in your life, it is the beginning of new friendships, networking connections, and most importantly, opportunities for self-improvement and professional growth. Entering college, you will be introduced to new areas of interest, broaden your perspective and vision of possibilities, establish and accomplish goals, develop lasting friendships and define yourself in ways that you had never imagined. College education is the only way to ensure financial stability and some wealth in your future.
When I was little, I dreamed about going to college somewhere warm where I could escape the snow. As I became older I realized that the dream I had as a kid was fading. At the beginning of the school year, the thought of going out of state was unimaginable. The only place that came to mind when I heard the word “college” was the University of Iowa. Shortly after the end of football season, my high school football coach, Coach Krusey would call me and a few of my teammates down to the conference room where coaches from various schools, sat down and talked to us about playing at the next level and furthering our education at their school. When other coaches also came to the school to speak to us, they opened my eyes to different options, soon
College. A time of learning, fun, and coming of age. It’s a place for everybody to enjoy and educate. College in today's society is gleaming with opportunity and prestige. College is where friendships are made, you learn what you love, where you truly become you. College is a life defining experience that all people should have the wonder of enjoying it and its benefits afterwards. It’s the entryway to a better life for you and your family. But the sad part is, not everyone chooses the path of college. Too many people aren’t going to college and enjoying it and the previously stated benefits that come out of going to college. That is why college is beneficial in being an entryway to the real world and helps you greatly become a better person
Although I passed, it did not feel the same. I still felt like I had failed my dad. My dad had taken another day off from work to be with me because I could not get the job done the first time. When I walked out of the test room, my dad was relieved to hear the news that I had passed. He had the same excitement on his face that he had last week when he thought that I had passed the test. It was like my dad wiped my failure from his memory and just focused on my success. I realized that everything does not always work out and sometimes failure can be better than success. When I failed the first test, I was upset and I knew that I had to change my study habits to get a better score. By failing the test, I had realized that one cannot go their whole life relying on luck. If someone wants to gain success, than they must work for it. Sometimes failure is necessary for someone to move forward. This experience helped to show me that it is ok to fail. The important thing is to learn from the failure and try to fix it for the next time. Maybe it was important for me to fail in order to learn the necessary adjustments I had to make to gain success the next time
All around me are people who would like nothing better to not be in an educational setting. The moans and groans I hear around me, due to stress, causes me to stress. The amount of times I've heard students say they wish they could just drop out, is a daily recurrence. Where has the want to be something bigger gone? Has it simply just disappeared? Yes, school is stressful. Yes, homework is the reason for failing grades. All of these aspects of school can build each student into what they want. A person just can't go into an interview for a CEO position with the words "some high school" on the education area on an application or resume. As a child, you have always wanted to be something big and as the years go on it gets more and more real.
Preparing for the In- Class Essay was definitely a struggle for me. I found every possible way to procrastinate, yet a small fragment of time was dedicated towards prepping for the In-Class Essay. I looked over the notes I had written over the book, and even google notes on the book to refresh my memory of the book without having to read it again. I felt confident in my preparation for the In-Class Essay, however I still felt butterflies walking into class that day. I have never been a fan of writing timed essays, and writing my essay on Wednesday did not change anything. I struggled with thinking quick on my feet and figure out which question I would answer. I found two questions that I was fond over, but debated over which one I could write
When I look backwards on my high school career, I honestly thought my grades as a freshman were a lot worse than they actually are. The lowest grade I received was a B- in Honors Geometry, and the majority of my grades were A's. I think I rather remember my negative attitude towards school and my lazy work ethic, which did not translate as heavily into my letter grades. Surprisingly enough, my most satisfying grades out of my entire grade book are the C's I received in AP United States History. At the end of my freshman year, I took a practice test to see if I could handle taking an advanced placement course my sophomore year. Lets just say that my test results were so bad that Mr. Bradley recommended that I not take the class and wait another year, however I was up for the challenge and wanted to take an initiative in my academics, so I took the class.
Everybody wants good grades and these simple steps will help you achieve better grades. All you need is a textbook, good attitude, confidence that you will do well, a good place to study, pencil, paper, flash cards, and a study partner but that is optional. Having good grades is always important especially if you are trying to get scholarships for college.
Skipping class gives an adreniline rush no one can explain,Have you ever skipped class, what are the pros and cons? Only the beginning of junior year, I was afraid to continue the class. I was afraid I was going to flunk out. The class carried on as I sat there day after day with the thought of failing on my mind. However, that only made me even more determined to get a higher grade on the next test. I could not let a bad grade eat me up and demolish my desire to succeed. Later when the second test was passed back, I looked at it, flashed a smile, and flipped through it, noticing only a few minor mistakes. Returning to the front page, I stared at that 92% until the end of class.
