I see that you are majoring in Behavioral Science. I’m also currently working on my BA in that as well. I hope to one day be able to become a Social Working and work with either troubled youth or substance users. I have seen The Passion of Crist. This is a very good and educational movie as it shows the triumphs that are told in the Bible. I do see how this would lead people to the Lord as they can really grasp the pain and suffering Jesus went through for our sins. This was a very emotional movie and let people see and feel the pain that happened. I think this is a great movie to discuss.
“When you argue against Him you are arguing against the very power that makes you able to argue at all: it is like cutting off the branch you are sitting on.” I got that quote from Mere Christianity. God is omnipotent and He is all- powerful. He knows and sees everything, God is unlike Santa Claus, God is something to really believe in. God has given C.S. Lewis a very intriguing way to spread his word. Mere Christianity has many ideas on faith and truth that helps my walk with the Lord.
Examples of a decision that's not rationally self-interested are when we donate money, clothes, food... for a organization or an individual. Such as people donate their blood for red cross, or people put money, even few cent in the donate box to help other health treatment...It is examples of not rationally self-interested because we give for other benefit and we do not really get back.
Being a Cristian is having relationship with God and knowing that a person is a sinner in need of forgiveness and salvation. Therefore, becoming a Cristian is a step someone takes after they recognize they have sins. Only by realizing it a person can step on a path to forgiveness. For instance, like an alcoholic when he sick help. The start is to understand he has alcohol related problems. Throwing him to rehabilitation is not going to make it work, he needs to be in peace with himself, with the man he really is. Religion is when person truly wants to embrace God and understand the essence of the Christian Worldview.
"It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not." This scripture represents the grace and mercy we all live under as believers. Many times throughout my life, weather looking back or trying to project forward. I realize that it is only by God’s Grace; that I am able to make it. And it is with this mindset, that I have the reasoning to want to attend Colorado Christian Univ. As a soon to be 35 year old man, I have seen a lot of life’s highs and lows. I was raised in a Christian home, by both my Mother and Father. I come from a long line of ministers my father pastored for 25 years in Denver, Co. at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, my brother is currently pastoring in Topeka, Ks. at Antioch Baptist church. So I am used to being
Who is Jesus Christ? Jesus Christ is the main child of god regardless of originating from a lady. He is the light that came to earth to clear up our way and our spirit. He is a man that strolled to earth the distance from Israel.
Since the start of our country, America has been known as a land of immigrants, a melting pot of different cultures and ethnicities working towards the American motto of the land of the free, home of the brave. Since colonial times, immigrants have been an integral part of society, majorly contributing to U.S culture and economy, yet many Americans have always had very conflicting ideas on immigration. Many people look past the benefits immigrants bring to our economy and society and instead scapegoat them for many of the United States’ problems surrounding unemployment and budget. The positive effects of immigrants, both legal and undocumented, in our country far outweighs the negative effects because of their important impact on society and the economic help that American relies on.
It’s taken 17 long years to realize who I am today, that person would be a loving, caring, compassionate, smart, wild, and of course fun person. I may even have different perspectives on things then others, but that’s what makes me. I also do have to say I wouldn’t be who I was if it wasn’t for my dad, grandmother and of course my love Christian. So now, let me begin to tell you who I really am. I’ve had a dream of becoming a traveling nurse since I was 11 because I grew up around my dad being a nurse, my nana having her own business taking care of old people with mental issues. I have been really interested to learn about the human body and how to cure diseases and what meds to prescribed to someone for their problems. I have already learned some basics of the human body, what muscles are in the body an how
Beliefs are vital in Islam. Proper beliefs about God, the universe, and humanity is the number one concern to Muslims. The Quran, the sacred text of Islam states, "Righteous is he who believes in Allah and the remaining Day and the Angels and the Scriptures and the Prophets.” Believing in these concepts, as well as many others, are essential to Muhammad's followers, each past and present. Similar to Judaism and Christianity, Islam also teaches that there is one god in the universe, providing Muslims with a monotheistic view. There are several beliefs in Islam that Muslims believe in. The one most important belief in Islam, and arguably the main belief of the religion is that there is only one god. He has ninety-nine
Through our faith we are taught to believe that Jesus Christ is the Messiah sent by God the father to save us from our sins. There are a vast number of ways that we can learn about Jesus. Some of these include the gospels, Sunday mass, and the Holy Eucharist. We can take what we learn from him and apply it to our lives acting a model of him for others. Through the certain actions and behaviors we mirror in our lives, we may be able to experience the presence of God.
“He was not happy. He was not happy. He said the words to himself. He recognized this as the true state of affairs. He wore his happiness like a mask and the girl had run off across the lawn with the mask and there was no way of going to knock on her door and ask for it back” is what Montag, the protagonist of Fahrenheit 451, thought to describe the situation he had found himself in; however, there is a deeper meaning to this quote that provides an insight into what the Modern period was (10). The Modern period was influenced by the atrocities that had occurred at that time such as World War I, The Great Depression, and World War II. This led to questions such as, “What was becoming of this world?” and “What did it mean to be American?”. Additionally,
The topic of random drug testing has been a very controversial one, especially in the last few years. RSDT (random student drug testing) made a rise in popularity after being legalized by the United States Supreme Court in 2006. This ruling made testing students who participate in extracurriculars or drive to school able to be tested for illegal drug abuse. This court decision is like many others in the aspect that some strongly agree and others heavily disagree. One side of opinions agrees with the court 's ruling and believes that RSDT programs help prevent drug abuse among the student population. Other people think that the programs infringe on the rights of students and offer no usefulness in the fight against
My great grandma died of brain cancer. My grandmother Christine lived an extraordinary 98 years. Even after she was diagnosed with cancer, she refused to let it consume her daily life. The memories of Grandma Christine’s nurses with their generosity towards all the people in my family and their infinite capacity to love filled my life with light. Gandhi once stated, “Be the change that you wish to see in the world”,(Goodreads) and these nurses embodied this for me. This experience guided me to pursue a career in nursing because I desire to give everyone the same treatment and care as the nurses who cared for my grandmother. I was able to recognize that my true passion is to help and care for others. I believe I have found my passion in nursing which will drive me to be successful, but I still need to discover what type of nurse I want to be.
Disregarding the fact that I’ve been gone quite a long time, San Antonio, Texas remains where I call home. As far as recalling my child hood, I was raised Catholic and followed many traditions that followed. However, over the years those faded and ultimately lead me to no particular denomination.
My journey has been a rapid one, which has moved and intensified throughout my fairly short life. My past had a fairly simple sense of spirituality. Most of what I believed came from whatever anyone told me. However, my present is much more different. Currently, I take what I hear from my trusted family member or priest, and analyze what it means and the core truths it proposes. I hope that for my future, I can reach the ultimate spiritual enlightenment, where I am able to not only understand for myself but to even teach the message to others I may know. My journey has consisted of naive moments, moments of clarity, and hopefully moments of understanding.
Passion can be a strong word, but it’s a strong emotion. Passion is what drives people, keeps them motivated. Determination and passion go hand in hand. I have a lot of passion for guard. When I first joined, I was so bad that I just wanted to quit. I thought I was horrible. I kept trying and trying but it still hadn’t clicked for me yet. I had bruises up and down my arms, cuts on my wrists, and I struggled to catch everything. Other people told me I was okay, but I wanted to be good. I was determined to be great, and now I’m going to strive for awesome. That passion and determination for this activity grew stronger and stronger, as I was trying so hard to be good at it. I felt like quitting, but deep down I knew I wouldn’t because I had already
